Capítulo 375: Chapter 375: The Love Burial Horsemen

As Clark's words fell, a ripple of spatial energy surged on the grounds of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, suddenly producing a purple energy dome. This dome split open at the center, revealing five figures who appeared before everyone.

The leader, with skin blue as the depths, had a metallic sheen and wore an ancient style metal armor. His appearance suggested he was more of a Kree than a human.

There was a song lyric that went: "Blue-faced Apocalypse slaughters, red-faced Stryfe suffers, yellow-faced Shang-Chi, white-faced Captain America, and black-faced Nick Fury chatter..."

Gorky once said: "There are no wrong names, only misheard lyrics."

These lyrics aptly reflected some characteristics in the Marvel universe. For instance, Apocalypse was a classic example of an extreme enthusiast, one who had embraced his style so deeply that it was ingrained in his bones. Not only did he style himself in a laughably exaggerated manner, but his newly appointed Horsemen were equally overdramatic.

To Clark, they seemed less like Apocalypse's Horsemen and more like a group called the Love Burial Horsemen.

They were so overly dramatic that they could endorse a free-to-play mobile game without any VIP equipment and not need any makeup to do it.

Imagine that scenario: "Hello everyone! I'm Bao Feng Nu, I'm the King of Random Lyrics…"

Such a mental image was promptly cut off by Clark.

Too damn cringe-worthy!

As soon as the Love Burial family appeared, Apocalypse naturally ignored Clark and Lois, both of cosmic and universe-level strength, and his gaze fell directly on the injured Charles Xavier: "Charles Francis Xavier, come with me. I can enhance your power, make you my fifth Horseman, and help me purify this filthy world."

Seeing Apocalypse acting like a sanctimonious preacher, Lois couldn't help but grimace and asked Clark, "Is there something wrong with this blue-skinned guy's brain?"

Clark shrugged: "Even you can see it, so he's definitely off his rocker."

Using mutants to rule the world was such a unique idea that probably only an old relic like Apocalypse could conceive of it. Even Magneto, known for his dramatics, wouldn't think this way.

After all, mutant powers are strong but not omnipotent. It's not the Stone Age where might makes right is the main standard of influence, let alone the only or most important one.

Let alone achieving such a crazy goal, even if you did, how would you govern? Are all the high-ranking leaders supposed to be mutants?

How would you distribute rights and interests among mutants? Based on work, capital, or strength? According to Apocalypse's ideology, it would be by strength. Then wouldn't a person's social status be determined at birth?

Who would bother striving for better?

Regardless of whether you're diligent or lazy, your treatment remains unchanged, so why bother? Moreover, the conflict wouldn't only manifest among the lower classes but would be even more intense among the core members. Since everyone's position is determined by their strength, shouldn't you, the ruler, also adhere to this rule?

Do you think you're powerful because you've absorbed many mutant powers?

Phoenix Force and Chaos Magic, would like to have a word.

Thus, Apocalypse's ideology is fundamentally flawed and doomed to fail.

Setting aside others, even his four Horsemen, who were right behind him, who would actually be loyal to him?

None!

Clark was absolutely sure that if they had to choose between him and Apocalypse to die, all four would point at Apocalypse's big blue head without a second's hesitation.

At the end of the day, Apocalypse's mindset was that of an ancient person from 5000 years ago, and his methods of conquest were outdated even then. Pretending to be a god, then boosting a few mutants' powers before trying to rule the world?

That approach might have worked in Ancient Egypt... maybe?

But if his rule had been effective, there wouldn't have been any rebellion, and he wouldn't have had to sleep in a pyramid for 5000 years.

As Clark and Lois internally critiqued Apocalypse, who was thoroughly outdated even 5000 years ago, the others' attention fell on Charles.

Charles, hearing Apocalypse's proposal, simply shook his head: "I could never join you." Then turning to his old friend Magneto, he added, "Old friend, you shouldn't help this man. It would only bring war and disaster to our kind."

Magneto looked at Charles with a complex expression and simply stated, "Look into my mind."

Charles was taken aback by the request. The two had known each other for many years, and this was the first time Magneto had made such an offer. He must have a reason related to his decision to re-emerge, one that he was not afraid to share.

Thus, Professor X, Jean Grey, Clark, and Lois all

 simultaneously entered Magneto's mind.

What they saw was a tragically beautiful scene.

Hidden away working at a steel mill, Magneto's identity was exposed just as he was preparing to flee with his family. However, they were ambushed by the police.

Initially, Magneto had given up resistance for his family's safety, ready to be captured and locked away again. But at that moment, his daughter's powers awakened. Desperate not to lose her father, she controlled a murder of crows to attack the police. One of the officers accidentally released an arrow that pierced both Magneto's wife and daughter, skewering them together.

Losing the two people closest to him in one fell swoop, Magneto's rage meter exploded, and he killed all the officers present with a single coin.

Clark internally lamented the loss.

As Marvel's "national father-in-law," Magneto's daughters were known for their extraordinary beauty and power. A young girl who could control crows upon awakening might one day control entities like Galactus or Groot. And now, such a promising seedling had been nipped in the bud. How could one not lament?

However, why did Magneto's daughter awaken with a power of mind control?

"Ah-choo!"

Perhaps due to his previous mental trauma, the otherwise healthy Charles suddenly sneezed, quickly pulling out a handkerchief to wipe the snot and blood from his nose before looking back at Magneto: "I understand your grief, but you cannot seek revenge against the world because of this."

Clark was at a loss for words for Charles's argument.

Magneto had just lost his entire family, and yet he was being told to be magnanimous. Out of nowhere, Clark recalled a video by Horseshoe Teacher...

As the emotional drama seemed to reach its climax, Lois finally pointed at Apocalypse, the leader of the five, and asked her father, "Dad, the others are complicated, and I'm not sure if they should be killed. But that blue-faced guy clearly doesn't seem like a good person. It should be okay if I take him out, right?"

Clark nodded: "If you take him out, that would pretty much wrap up this story."

Their conversation drew the attention of everyone present.

Are we not currently discussing how to rule the world or stop Apocalypse from ruling it, and yet you're talking about taking out the biggest boss just like that?

Receiving from Apocalypse...

Receiving...

...

"Received!"

Finally finding the best way to resolve the issue, Lois's eyes lit up. With a flick of her finger, a crystal-blue dagger sprung forth, aiming directly at Apocalypse. She squinted one eye, taking aim.

"Hmph! Courting death!" Seeing the casual disregard Clark and his daughter had for everyone present, Angel was the first to lose patience. With a flap of his metallic wings, he rose into the air, then with a sweep of his wings, he launched countless daggers towards Clark and Lois, indiscriminately scattering them.

For Lois, however, she didn't even bother to look at Angel's attack, confident with her father by her side. She just focused on aiming.

Clark merely shook his head slightly. The daggers that reached their vicinity suddenly turned into soap bubbles, scattered by the breeze.

Effortlessly neutralizing Angel's attack, Clark couldn't help but comment, "Your daggers' special effects are just too poor. They're several grades worse than those from fifteen years ago by Dan Chenzi."

Impression points from Warren Kenneth Worthington III: +99!

Meanwhile, after a long emotional buildup, Lois finally completed her "aiming." Whispering "Swoosh!" like a sound effect, the crystal-blue dagger transformed into a streak of light, silently piercing through the void, heading straight for Apocalypse!
