Capítulo 2: Chapter 2: "These are dragon eggs"

Laura screamed at the top of her lungs, the creature's jaws closing in with bone-chilling force as she rolled away desperately. The air thickened with fear as the realization hit her—it wasn't just preparing to consume her; it reveled in the anticipation, savoring the impending doom. Adrenaline surged through her veins, urging her to escape the malevolent entity's clutches.

In a frenzy, she fought to regain her footing, her heart pounding against the walls of her chest. Staggering away from the creature, its malicious intent lingered in the air like a sinister presence. The enchanted woods echoed with the primal roars of the creature, a symphony of terror intensifying the urgency of her escape.

Gasping for breath, Laura found shaky ground beneath her, her gaze fixated on Ana. Despite the visible bruise marring Ana's determined expression, she waved Laura off, a silent assurance that she could handle the situation. Yet, a lingering unease settled within Laura, intensifying the urgency of the impending danger.

"Leave it," Ana commanded, her voice cutting through the charged atmosphere, "I can take care of it." Her eyes, a mix of resilience and a hint of concern, met Laura's briefly before she redirected her focus toward the creature.

Swearing under her breath, Laura crouched back towards the creature, which had silently repositioned itself behind her. There was an unsettling calmness about it, a calculated malevolence that made her skin crawl. It was unhurried, as though reveling in the fear emanating from both Ana and her.

Its gaping mouth, wide open in anticipation, loomed over Laura. She hesitated for a moment, the air thick with tension. Swiftly, she threw the spare between its gnashing teeth, attempting to create a barrier, but the creature was quick to adapt. With eerie precision, it twisted its massive form, maneuvering around the obstacle with unnatural agility.

Laura's heart pounded as the creature closed in, undeterred by her feeble attempt to stall its advance. The once-harrowing silence was shattered by the creature's guttural growls, amplifying the terror that gripped her. It was a primal, terrifying sound that resonated with an unsettling familiarity, as though mocking their feeble attempts to defy it.

In a desperate bid to evade the creature, Laura stumbled backward, her gaze fixed on Ana, who now watched the unfolding horror with a tense determination. The creature, sensing Laura's vulnerability, accelerated its pursuit. It was no longer a mere adversary; it embodied an ancient malevolence, an embodiment of the dark magic that lurked within the enchanted woods.

The spare, now discarded and ineffective, lay between them as a futile symbol of their failed attempt to outsmart the creature. Its eyes, gleaming with otherworldly intelligence, locked onto Laura's. Panic clawed at her chest, threatening to overwhelm her.

Just as the creature lunged forward, a surge of magic coursed through Laura. With lightning reflexes, she intercepted the creature, her hands ablaze with newfound power. A radiant glow emanated from her, contrasting sharply with the eerie shadows cast by the ancient trees.

The woods themselves seemed to shudder as the magical clash intensified. The creature, momentarily halted, struggled against Laura's newfound strength. A cacophony of arcane energy echoed through the air, creating an unsettling symphony that underscored the battle between light and darkness.

Laura seized the opportunity to distance herself from the creature, her eyes darting between the malevolent entity and her as the creature fell flat on the forest floor.

"That was magic!" Ana said happily as she peeped to Laura's side. "You've got magic!" she screamed and pulled Laura in a tight embrace.

Honestly, how that happened, Laura did not know. What she did know was that she was damn scared, scared that everything was going to end in the teeth of an ugly creature like itself.

Trying hard to catch her breath, Laura pulled Ana backward a little as she let out a sigh. "Your leg hurt?" she asked Ana, looking at her leg, but there was no more sign of a bruise.

"I took care of it," Ana replied, still staring at Laura in awe. "Could you try that once again?" she asked, staring at Laura with her now brown eyes.

"I didn't know what happened, it just happened," Laura told her, and she scoffed.

"Just think of something that can pull up your emotions," she paused and looked around, sat on the dead beast, and rested her shoulder on its lap with her palm on her jaw. "Let's say you've a boyfriend you love, and someone killed him. Think of you using magic to kill the person, you know, angrily." She said it like it was that easy to develop emotions.

"Oh no, fucking way," Laura muttered loudly enough for her to hear as she took steps backward slowly, reaching for the broken spare. "It blinked just now," she told her, referring to the creature she was sitting on. Ana hurriedly flew away from it with a sense of fear gripping her. "Now let's get going," Laura told her as she noticed nothing was wrong.

"You suck at pranking," she commented as she reached for her bag and her little knife.

"But still, I got you," Laura replied, but she wouldn't give in. "But what was that?" Laura questioned her, hoping to get an answer.

"I know not," she replied sharply. "So where are we heading?" she asked as she put her bag on her back.

"The rock, I presume," Laura replied.

Laura had a feeling something significant awaited them at the rock. The rock loomed ahead, a silent guardian concealing the mysteries beneath. With Ana by her side, they cautiously approached. Surprisingly, the rock yielded to their persistent efforts, and with grunts and strained muscles, they moved it aside, unveiling a dark hole below.

Guided by Ana's touch, they descended into the abyss. Darkness enveloped them, but curiosity and a lingering fear pushed them forward. The tunnel seemed endless, its walls whispering ancient secrets as they ventured deeper. The air thickened with an otherworldly energy, uncertainty gnawing at them, yet the hope of discovery propelled their every step.

In the dim light, Laura stumbled on an unseen obstacle, causing a small commotion. Ana turned to her, concern etched on her face, "What is it?"

Laura looked down at what had tripped her, and to her surprise, there they were—two objects nestled in the mud, concealed beneath the darkness. Ana, with her innate curiosity, lifted one of them and examined it closely.

"What is that?" Laura asked, her eyes fixated on the mysterious objects cradled in Ana's hands.

"If my guess is correct," Ana began, excitement and disbelief in her voice, "these are dragon eggs."
