Capítulo 17: After-Dinner Closeness

"Mhm," he murmured, pausing briefly before flipping over, pinning her beneath him, his head nestling into the crook of her shoulder. 

"Ever since I discovered this spot yesterday, I've been thinking about it non-stop. It's really comfortable," he confessed, his voice muffled by her skin.

His face, buried in the nook of her shoulder, exuded a peaceful tranquility, reminiscent of a child snuggling close to his mother. 

Avery Miller gently wrapped her arms around his waist, her chin resting against his sturdy arm. She closed her eyes, feeling her heart racing uncontrollably.

"Which chef did you decide to keep?" he asked from behind her, his words slightly muffled as his mouth was pressed against her shoulder.

"What? What did you say?" she asked, lifting her head slightly to hear him better. 

But he just pressed her head back down into the crook of his arm.
