Capítulo 14: Interlude: The detective dragon curiously inquires into the origins of her knight

Narrator POV:

Swoosh

A gust of wind was created as Kurma landed upon reaching her destination. In front of her was the building of a branch of a certain community, located on the east side of the lower part of Little Garden.

[Thousand Eyes]

That was the name of the largest commercial community in all of Little Garden.

Specializing in the sale of information, it was said that as long as you could pay the price, you would know what you wanted to know. But that was not the most important thing about it.

The most important thing was the leaders of this community. Two beings in the two-digit realm, who, like Kurma, were at the apex of all of Little Garden, the so-called paradise of the gods.

Alpha and Omega.

The duality of the beginning and the end.

The twin goddesses and the leaders of Thousand Eyes. As well as one of the four truths that participated in the creation of Little Garden.

"W-welcome Kurma-sama"

The employee in front of the door bowed nervously when she saw her. There was clear respect in her behavior. After all, she was in front of someone who was an equal to her leaders.

Kurma, The world dragon. The strongest dragon among all of her race as well as the one with the purest blood. One of the members of Avatara, the community of the 8 kings of the sun.

"Don't waste time with formalities, guide me inside."

Kurma waved her hand and motioned for her to let her in. Once inside, she took a seat. Waiting for the manager to arrive, she reviewed her objective in preparing to come to that place today.

'To obtain information about the origins of my knight'

Kurma was very curious about this particular matter. It was simply impossible that one of the heirs to that throne had never been to Little Garden in his entire life.

'However, he did not lie to me at any point in the talk'

Mikhael had not yet reached the point where he could hide his intentions to her. Since her cute knight did not lie, it was obvious that he was also unaware of his own origins. That was why she came here.

'Biblical, without a doubt his origin is biblical. One of the 72 Pillars or the reincarnation of some fallen angel? No, his origin is not something so simple, not with those two entities attached to him.'

Kurma recalled with annoyance the two powerful beings that threatened her before. There was that woman with a pale complexion. But what made her back off was that mass of chaos behind her.

Pure, unadulterated chaos. Something that would give her a headache to try to understand, that exudes a sinister and ominous feeling that instinctively generates a rejection in all beings.

'What the hell was that...? That thing should be comparable to the four truths, it must come from the distant and unknown universes but, why did that thing stay by his side...?'

It was reasonable to come to that assumption. One of the dangers in void exploration was the possibility of encountering wild double-digit existences in the void by accident.

'At least it relieves me quite a bit in the sense that I won't have to worry about his safety in the void with those two existences with him, not by how protectors they were with him.'

"Kuu-chan!!!"

As an annoying voice interrupted her thoughts, Kurma just waved her arm, slapping that white-colored missile that proceeded to bounce around the room.

"Ugh... So today it's the big Kurma and not the little one, huh?"

The child-like existence, Shiroyasha rubbed her forehead after crashing into one last wall and turned around. "It's weird that you come out in your original form and not as an avatar."

"I came for an important matter, don't waste my precious time, and let's talk business, Shiroyasha." Kurma looked at this old friend of hers, now sitting down.

Shiroyasha now had the appearance of a golden-eyed girl with elf ears, wearing a blue kimono. You would never think that she was once the worst Demon king of the history of Little Garden.

Although her behavior was mischievous and unserious, she was still a celestial spirit, the embodiment of a certain type of celestial body, and also a Last Embryo, a true demon king.

"So, what brought you, that sleepy dragon who rarely returns to Little Garden, to visit me today?" Shiroyasha sat back in her seat with curiosity on her face.

"I want all the information available on a certain person."

"What?! Don't tell me, spring has come to my friend?!" Shiroyasha covered her mouth in shock, turning pale at Kurma's request. She acted as if the sun rose in the West. "Today is another big loss for the single people team!!!"

"..."

"Okay, I'll stop joking around, what's that person's name?"

"Mikhael. He probably has biblical roots. Look him up with Laplace if you have to, I'll pay the corresponding price."

Shiroyasha looked at her in surprise at what she said. Laplace was an expensive thing to use, even more so when she was almost out of energy from a certain unfortunate incident a little over a year ago.

"Laplace, huh? Now I'm starting to suspect that you really do have a little lover hidden around."

"Perhaps you're right."

Snap

Shiroyasha stood still, her fingers that sought to call Laplace froze in midair along with that cheerful smile.

'Are you serious? Kurma of all people?'

She raised her head shakily and looked at that appearance so similar to how she originally looked. Kurma, who had a character similar to hers in her other form actually said that.

"...Now you're making me curious about the person in question..." Shiroyasha smiled sincerely with interest. A rare sight to see since that incident a year ago.

But when Shiroyasha was going to call Laplace at last, a note fell out of nowhere. Both of them looked at the note in surprise. As it had the symbol of the twin goddesses, Alpha and Omega.

"Did the bosses really get personally involved in this?"

Shiroyasha looked in surprise at the paper that fell into Kurma's hands.

They usually got the information through their subordinates and warehouse. In other special cases, Laplace was used, which had almost all of Little Garden's information.

In some even more special cases, the twin goddesses get personally involved by answering a unique request. That they did so now only spoke to the nature of the case.

While Kurma looked with a frown and surprise in her eyes at the contents of the note that revealed Mikhael's origin to her. Shiroyasha wrinkled her face upon receiving a message from a certain being.

"Why the hell does that brat want to come and bother me now?"

***

It was a short time ago, just a few decades, something minuscule compared to the rest of Little Garden's entire history.

Back then, there was a certain god who ruled over the biblical pantheon. One day, that god fell into the trap of his enemies and angered a force beyond all reason.

With a roar that tore through space-time, coming from the final moments of creation, that being appeared right there.

One of the Last Embryo, the tyrant of the ending, the strongest god-slayer, the wind of decadence, pure nothingness, the embodiment of destruction and decay, the wandering eschatology, the cannibalistic demon King, and many more names...

An existence beyond the very strength, that caused faith to be abandoned, fear to be forgotten, and returned everything to nothingness, that was the one who had already slain millions of gods...

End Emptiness, The absolute end of all stories.

Fortunately, that being could only appear with limited power because the time of its appearance had not yet arrived. The center of Little Garden only used it as a personal executor for now.

Taking advantage of that, the god used everything he had against it, whether it was miracles, uniting the Trinity into one, or whatever he needed.

In the void, the supreme light collided with the primordial being.

In the end, the god won the battle, however, he lost the war.

He could not kill that being, because the center of Little Garden dictated that only humans could kill the Last embryo after successfully crossing that last trial for them. Not only that...

The winds of that being erased everything, including the gods.

Although he managed to win by joining with his other selves, he still had mortal wounds, already on the verge of death, he decided something. A glow appeared in his hands, using his authority, he created.

For the last time in his entire existence, that being who stood on the side of humans, created something just as he did in the beginning.

Two souls. Twins. His last children and last creations. Male and female. Just as it happened in the beginning. But this time they came from himself instead of the earth itself.

They were two identical beings, pure and holy, with different paths.

One of them would inherit his mantle, becoming the new biblical god. Who would rule the heavens as the new king, command the angels, and watch over peace in that world.

And...

The other would be born as a human, carrying on his shoulders the task of crossing the end and welcoming a future full of unlimited possibilities by walking alongside the humans.

"..."

As he finished, God hesitated, he knew what would probably await one of them depending on his choice. So he hesitated as to which one to give the final task to and which one he should give his mantle to succeed him.

"How about as we agreed before, you let me choose?"

It was at that moment, at the crossroads of Fate where the paths divided, when "that" appeared again in the god's life. "Something" that helped him in exchange for just a promise.

"Someday, you will face a difficult decision, then, I will choose for you. That was what I told you as the price for my help."

What he almost forgot after so long had come back to him. The one who saved his life when he was young came to ask for payment. The god nodded at the request, it was something inevitable and necessary.

"Then, I will choose..." The being looked at the two babies in spiritual form in front of her. They had some intelligence but it was extremely limited for now, it would only develop later.

"..."

The being began to point with its "finger" at the twins.

One of the twins began to cry thanks to the instinctive disgust and rejection that the chaotic being gave to all living beings. But strangely, that twin did not cry, he only looked at the finger.

With fear? With bewilderment? With discomfort?

No, he looked at the finger with interest and curiosity. When his twin avoided the finger at all costs, he touched that "finger". "That being" was startled to feel that he touch her and laughed.

"Wow...you are so charming, aren't you, little one? As a reward for being able to recognize the majesty of this great me..."

The god looked in bewilderment as the entity seemed to be "happy" holding the twin high and looking into his eyes. At that twin whose sunny smile shone just like the sun.

"I will choose you."

On the verge of death, the god received another offer, if he left that twin in his hands, "that" would make him someone who could defeat the end.

At the same time, that "thing" promised to take care of the biblical pantheon until the other soul grew old enough.

"...I accept"

The god's words came from his lips even though he didn't know what would happen to that twin in the future. A Binding promise was created, but...Still, it was a necessary sacrifice...

The god left one twin with one of his archangels, but what he felt was multiplied thanks to the crying of the twins who cried when they felt somehow that they were separated.

"Could you... let me name him?" The god asked as he approached to "That being". Who "looked" at him and nodded. Taking the twin, the god whose body was missing parts smiled as he touched his extended small finger.

"Your name will be...Mikhael (The gift of god)"

That day, the original light disappeared amidst the sobs of all heaven that mourned the death of their heavenly father. That day, the Fates of the two twins were engraved in stone.

The records of the twin goddesses stopped there, they were one of the few who knew about it thanks to being allied with the biblical pantheon, however, they did not tell them all of that.

They did not say the fate of that twin or who "that" being was. But if they knew something, the status of the biblical faction changed.

The limited monotheism of the Trinity of the biblical pantheon was transformed at some point into a dualism. Thanks to that, all those severe restrictions on the biblical faction were loosened.

The center of Little Garden did not accept a cosmological vision with only one god for now. But it did accept one with two "gods" at the top. Therefore, the duality between light and darkness was formed.

Day and night.

Female and Male.

The light and the darkness.

Heavenly God and heavenly Demon.

The seven virtues and the seven deadly sins.

The duality between the twins that were separated at birth.

That was the connection between the two of them, one that was unknown to almost everyone in Little Garden.

The twin goddesses had two doubts when they learned that detail.

What exactly did that being do with that twin?

And when would the one who was supposed to hunt the end return to Little Garden?

***

'I thought he would have a somewhat important status in his faction but...One of the peaks of a duality?! No, thinking about it now it makes sense. He is, along with her, one of the heirs.'

'Besides, that mysterious being has to be either that pale-complexioned woman or that cluster of chaos. Still... the dark side of the new biblical god, a part of the Christian duality...'

Kurma felt her heart beating faster at this surprise. But, she also felt excitement at the great achievement of obtaining a priceless treasure like him by pure chance.

It felt like someone had gifted her a lottery ticket that happened to be the jackpot winner. Particularly, her draconic greed was very satisfied. That was until an alarm sounded in her instinct.

'No, now that I remember everything that happened, maybe it wasn't an accident. Is that being guiding his path towards me? For what purpose? Did it want to stay hidden or what is it?'

Kurma massaged her head as she tried to figure out the reasons of that being of chaos. It was useless. Something like that wouldn't be guided by normal logic. Surely its reasons were just stupid.

"What's the price for all this information, Shiroyasha...?" Kurma asked as she stood up to leave. After deciding it was useless to think any further, she decided to go with the flow.

"So this is the story of who won your interest, huh?" Shiroyasha looked, in surprise, at a paper like hers. She was, after all, the manager of the twin goddesses.

"..."

"Well, the goddesses told me that they want a way to communicate with him to offer him something special as your payment."

"Huh? I'm sorry to inform you that the boy is already my knight." Kurma became defensive, already with the experience of having what was hers taken away from her thanks to those two annoying entities at the side of Mikhael.

"Wow...you sure don't waste time. Even more so considering the current state of the last of your old knights..." Shiroyasha raised her eyebrows in surprise, hinting at something.

'Leticia Draculea, huh?...' Kurma thought for a moment about that subordinate of hers, her complicated history as well as her foolish choices. 'She already gave up her duties a long time ago...'

"Don't worry, I think the special offer to him will interest you. Since it has to do with [No name]. Perhaps, Leticia would be able to receive help after he accepts that offer."

"Is that so?" Kurma suddenly realized the twin goddesses' plan and didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She was grateful, but the choice was her knight's. "Anyway, the conflict between [No name] and those snakes is of no concern to me."

"I'm glad to hear that, old friend." Shiroyasha smiled, very happy to have the confirmation of her neutrality in the fight between [No name] and [Ouroboros] or what happened 1 year ago.

"I'll give this to him, if he chooses to accept it's in him." Kurma took that communicator with the mark of [Thousand Eyes]. Which was the symbol of two goddesses facing each other painted in black and white.

"I would appreciate it, it's rare for my bosses to show interest in something. Maybe it's because "they" are also twins of a duality. Finally, come visit when you can, okay?"

Reaching the exit hallway, Shiroyasha said goodbye to her. But before Kurma could open the door, it opened. No, someone opened it. A certain young girl with blonde hair and green eyes.

As the beautiful young girl, who exuded a holy aura as well as wore a sweet smile on the corners of her mouth, passed by her side, she spoke to Kurma in a low and gentle voice.

"World Dragon, be careful with your actions around my brother, I would hate to have to start a war so early." The young girl wearing a saintly demeanor threatened not so indirectly, still walking with another woman at her side.

"Wow, is that a warning?" Kurma couldn't let such a thing go, her draconic pride demanded that she strike back. "If that's so, it's late, perhaps I've already done too many things...sister-in-law~"

Though everyone present knew that it was just deception. Even so, the young girl instantly turned around still with that sweet smile, but now she had a very scary face.

"It seems that today I will finally become a dragon-slayer!!!" A scythe made purely of photons materialized on the young girl's arm and closed the distance between her and Kurma.

"Come, brat, thank your brother, for him, I will only just beat you up!!!" Kurma put on a toothy smile.

"Emanation!/Emanation!"

Boom!

When some type of force was about to unfold between the women. Shiroyasha suddenly appeared there, with two fans that hit the heads of both at the same time.

"FOOLS! DON'T START A FIGHT IN SOMEONE ELSE'S HOUSE! AND THAT WAS EMANATION? WERE YOU REALLY GOING TO USE THAT FOR THIS STUPIDITY?!"

Shiroyasha screamed with an exasperated face after showing a display of the martial arts cultivated by the worst demon king, the one who was once among the top 5 of Little Garden. And the fans in her hands were reduced to ashes.

"Haa... Sometimes I don't know whether to be happy or sad about all the restrictions on the full powers of the double digits." Shiroyasha facepalmed as she saw how they still faced each other.

"Do me a favor and stop this fight for today. Unless..." Shiroyasha smiled even more chillingly than them. "You two want me to go to the group of Buddhists now to find my spiritual essence and join in the fun too, what do you think?"

Shiroyasha was very serious, they could all sense it. From Kurma to the new Christian goddess, to her guard and the shop assistant who was trembling in fear in the corner.

"..."

"Because of our alliance, I will do you this favor, Shiroyasha." The young woman dressed in white returned to her saintly demeanor.

"It can't be helped, who makes you my friend? Just this once." Kurma discreetly rolled down her sleeves and turned around.

Shiroyasha watched as the young woman walked past her. As did the woman whose wings were retracted, who nodded in apology for the impolite behavior.

"Really... You shouldn't provoke a brocon like that, Kurma." Shiroyasha just pinched her nose at her friend's shrug. Was she normally like this too?

"But...the heavenly demon of Christianity...you sure have high standards, old friend" Shiroyasha spoke in a mocking tone after a few moments of silence between the two.

"Indeed, only such an identity suits me." Kurma smiled back, leaving her stunned again. And she turned away to leave and left to find her knight.

"Wait a minute! Was that serious!? What happened to friendship over men?! What happened to being single forever?! Kurma?! Don't go out and answer me, kurmaaaaa!!!"

"Old friend, I can only say that a giant boulder is about to hit this stagnant lake that is now Little Garden" Kurma looked at her over her shoulder before flying off into the sky, leaving Shiroyasha behind.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WITH THAT?! PLAYING MYSTERIOUS IS NOT REALLY YOUR THING, YOU...IDIOT!!!"

No one responded to Shiroyasha's deafening scream. Those passing by that street shook their heads and went on with their daily lives, already used to it, after all...

It was another normal day in the gods' paradise, Little Garden.

(Author's note:

Okay, dear readers, I'm going to be honest with you. I hit writer's block, I wrote the next chapter of Mikhael like 4-5 times but none of them convinced me no matter what I did.

So I decided to make this "mini-chapter" with a revelation and lots and lots of foreshadowing for the near and distant future.

There will probably be a Mikhael chapter between tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, although I would like to hear your opinions on how you want that chapter in question to be...

Good morning or good night and until next time, readers.)
