Capítulo 67: After all that

"Let's elope," she wrote in the closing lines of the letter. She knew it was a daring move, but she couldn't bear the thought of losing Henry. She would rather run away with him than marry someone she didn't love.

As she placed the letter on her desk, a sense of both excitement and trepidation washed over her. She knew that if she went through with this plan, she would be defying her parents and the societal expectations of a proper lady. But for the first time in her life, she was willing to take that risk for love.

With a deep breath, Elizabeth picked up her pen again and wrote a few final lines to Henry.

"Meet me tonight at the Clarkton stables. We'll run away together."

For two days there was no reply from Henry.

He never came to the Clarkton stables either. I was alone.
