I held my husband's hand tightly as Grandpa Alain closed his eyes.
"You don't have to tell this story," Lex said as concern marred his face.
"No," Grandpa Luther said, shaking his head. "You have inherited a problem we caused and I suspect you won't just be facing Vanessa on the business front."
I raised an eyebrow at my Grandfather, but he shook his head.
"Listen to Alain's story," Grandpa Luther told me.
"As I was saying, we were young, fresh out of University both with empires to inherit and Vanessa Garcia was the smartest person we knew," Grandpa Alain's eyes were full of sorrow as he spoke.
"Vanessa was a classmate from university," Grandpa Luther explained. "Unlike us, she didn't come from money. She was a scholar and an immigrant from the Philippines, her family escaping the horrors of Martial Law."
He then turned to Grandpa Alain, giving him a nod to continue.
