Capítulo 31: Chapter 31: Tips for Charles

Charles said, "There are a hundred or two hundred brothers in our building. Don't fight over this food; there's definitely enough for everyone. Two people per bowl of instant noodles, and the remaining hocks, chicken legs, and burgers can be distributed to those who eat less. I don't need any!"

"But, I'll take this plate of fruit, no objections, right?"

Although these items were hot and included hocks, chicken legs, and burgers, Charles had tasted them before.

Moreover, with the temperature rising outside, these foods might become common in the future.

But not fruits. Ever since the apocalypse, he hadn't had the chance to enjoy juicy fruits. So, he was willing to give away all other food just to get that plate of fruit.

His subordinates even cheered at this moment, "No objections!"

They were not as demanding as Charles. They became his subordinates for the sake of food, and at this moment, their needs were more than met, so naturally, they wouldn't object.

Charles directed two men to take away a bucket of instant noodles. Those who weren't there would have their share delivered downstairs after enjoying the chicken legs and large hocks.

Charles didn't leave either. He sat at the entrance of the building with his men, slowly savoring the fruits he hadn't had in a long time, relishing the crisp sweetness of apples, the softness of watermelon, the smoothness of mango, and the tender sweetness of dragon fruit. He felt an unprecedented happiness.

"Brother, you're really like a god!" Charles exclaimed loudly, "Or rather, a savior! Our savior!"

David just smiled inside, not replying.

To him, these were just unwanted leftovers, but in the outside world, they were precious.

So, why would he leave such favorable conditions? But everyone likes to be praised.

Charles had been very pleasing to David. He had been here for many days, and never said anything unpleasant. He didn't pry into David's family affairs or ask to open the door. Compared to his previous neighbors, Charles was much better, partly because he was not short on food.

After most of the food was eaten, Charles asked everyone to leave, leaving himself sitting at David's door. Then he said, "Brother, what do you think the future of this world will be?"

Charles laughed self-deprecatingly, "I think even if the weather returns to normal, the world won't calm down so quickly."

"The right thought," David said. "But I can tell you, the apocalypse won't end."

'The apocalypse won't end' - these simple seven words made Charles's face fall, and he smiled bitterly: "I knew it."

Even though he knew he might lose his current power and the ability to control others' lives after the apocalypse, no one would want to live in such a world. Charles leaned against David's door, skewered a piece of dragon fruit, and murmured softly, "This damned world!"

"This is what they call the apocalypse," David said. "I quite like you as a neighbor. I have no plans to change for an unknown future neighbor, so I'll give you another tip."

"Go ahead, brother."

"You can just call me David." David was also trying to bridge the gap with Charles, who was delighted, knowing he had finally gained David's approval.

Then he heard David say, "After extreme cold comes extreme heat."

Extreme cold... then extreme heat? Does it mean the world will become like a furnace?

Charles turned pale, his breathing quickened.

"There might be a time in the middle that's not so terrible. You better take advantage of this time to go outside and find what you need to better deal with the extreme heat in the future," David said slowly.

"Right, if I were you, I would also take the opportunity to recruit some professional talents. The world will soon return to normal temperatures for a while. That's when people will come out of their safe houses. That's your best preparation time."

Charles immediately stood up, turned to David's room, and bowed deeply.

"Thank you, David!" said Charles. "I know what to do now. I'll arrange it right away!"

"No rush," David said. "I also sent you a big gift, did you notice?"

"A gift?" asked Charles. "Is it this blue sphere next to me?"

He had noticed a blue sphere next to the food but didn't know what it was, so he hadn't mentioned it.

"That's called a Frost Grenade," David said softly. "A grenade that can freeze what's in front of you. You should know what this means, right?"

If Charles was joyful before, he was now ecstatic. He picked up the grenade like a treasure and excitedly said, "Worthy of David, to be able to come up with such a good thing!"

Creating ice in the upcoming extreme heat apocalypse could be life-saving!

"Charles, as long as you understand, then we can talk another day."

"Go do your thing, I wish you success."

Charles excitedly put the grenade away. It had a button-like thing on it, which was probably pressed and thrown to produce ice.

"Alright, we'll talk another day!"

Then he nodded and quickly walked down the stairs, probably to arrange future matters.

After everyone left, David walked back to the window. It was now two o'clock in the morning. He wasn't sure when the temperature would start to rise today, but it was inevitable. After today, the temperature should reach the zero-degree mark.

Once the temperature returns to normal, the world will undoubtedly be noisy for a few days. If the temperature rises by thirty degrees each day, people might not have more than two days to cheer before they have to hide back in their houses.

It's all about whether people are prepared. If they think everything will end with the warming, they will suffer in the coming extreme heat apocalypse just like they did in the extreme cold one.

The foresighted ones are those who don't rely on the government's return but seize the opportunity to prepare.

David had given Charles enough hints. As long as he wasn't foolish, he should know what to do.
