Capítulo 225: Chapter 225: Six Ability Rewards!

The Ocean ghost raised towering waves.

On the turbulent sea, the steel naval warships were as fragile and helpless as paper boats, with screams and cries continuously heard.

Adrian watched as the Buddha in the sky plummeted like a meteor. In the next moment, his figure suddenly vanished.

Several minutes later.

In the pitch-dark thousand-meter deep sea.

The Abyss, wrapped in the bubble membrane, was quietly heading towards its next destination.

In the captain's cabin on the topmost deck of the Abyss.

Having completed another major task before leaving, Adrian was silently gazing at the panel displaying the task completion notification.

The first task to settle was Sengoku's challenge.

[S-level Challenge Task: "Buddha Sengoku" Completed!]

[You have gained 1.8 billion experience points!]

"Missing 520 million experience points, and rounding up, that's practically a billion short!"

"So painful!"

Following closely was the reward for completing the challenge task, either an Expertise or a skill.

But having experienced this several times, Adrian held no expectations for the ability rewards at this point.

[You have received a reward: Randomly select one of the enemy's Expertise or skills.]

[Random selection in progress… selection complete.]

[Please choose one of the following five abilities as your reward:]

[1: "Advanced Combat" - Skill: An advanced version of Intermediate Combat.]

[2: "Six Powers – Iron Body" - Skill: Iron Body! Ha! Ah!]

[3: "Six Powers – Moonwalk" - Skill: Step on your left foot with your right foot to ascend to the sky!]

[4: "Gale Punch" – Skill: Swing your fist forcefully to create a strong punch wind and impact the objects ahead.]

[5: "Armament Haki" – Skill: ...]

"..."

Looking at the options provided by the panel, Adrian was instantly speechless.

Though he knew that consecutive challenges would dilute the value of the ability rewards and he had no high expectations, the panel's five offered abilities were too trashy!

What's with the bizarre descriptions of "Iron Body" and "Moonwalk"?

What kind of stupid name is "Gale Punch"?

Every strong fighter at sea, if they fight with their fists, who can't produce a strong punch wind?

It doesn't even need the term "Strong Fighter". Anyone with a bit more strength can generate a punch wind!

The difference is just the strength of the wind!

The fifth option, Armament Haki, was a complete reserve option.

After a rather irate bout of complaining, Adrian ultimately chose "Advanced Combat" to match the "Intermediate Combat" he had acquired not long ago.

He quickly put aside the ability rewards from the challenge task and turned his attention to another task, opting to submit it proactively.

[S-level Faction Task: "Buster Call: Ohara" Completed!]

[You have completed: "Rescue Ohara Scholars", "Rescue Innocent Citizens of Ohara", "Save the Tree of Knowledge Library Archives", "Defeat Vice Admiral Sakazuki", "Defeat Vice Admiral Kuzan", "Challenge Admiral Sengoku", "Destroy Ten Naval Warships"…]

[You have gained 3 billion experience points!]

[Task settlement in progress… settlement complete.]

[Task Evaluation: Incredible!]

[You have received an Incredible-level Evaluation Reward: Additional 200% Experience (6 billion), Random Rewards x4.]

"An Incredible-level evaluation reward?"

Adrian felt a surge of excitement.

When he first took on this faction task, he had noticed the rewards section was marked as unknown.

At that time, Adrian had wondered if completing the task would result in random rewards, and now it was confirmed.

There are many types of random rewards.

With bad luck, you might get experience points. {That's what you should have gotten, since your luck gone shit.}

But with good luck, you might get rare and precious Devil Fruits.

Just like the "Castle Fruit" previously consumed by Rumi.

That was a reward from completing the B-level task "Capone Gang".

"Wait! I killed that CP0 member earlier… doesn't that mean I have a good chance of getting the Paramecia-type Door-Door Fruit as a reward?!"

Adrian's excitement was rekindled.

Although he was already a Ghost Fruit user, he couldn't resist the "Collector's Urge" when faced with a rare and unique spatial-type fruit like the Door-Door Fruit.

The panel's notification messages flashed by.

[Random reward type selection in progress...]

[Your reward types this time are: Skill Points, Expertise, Skill, Item.]

[You have received 5 Skill Points!]

[You have gained an Expertise: Frost Affinity!]

[Frost Affinity – Expertise: Ice Attribute Resistance +20, Ice Attribute Skill Effect +20%.]

[You have gained a Skill: One-Sword Style – Great Quake!]

[One-Sword Style – Great Quake: Use a powerful aura to intimidate the opponent, rendering them immobile. With overwhelming fear, split the opponent's mental will in two.]

[You have received an Item: Devil Fruit Fusion Card!]

[Devil Fruit Fusion Card – Item: This miraculous card can ignore multiple Devil Fruit ability conflicts, allowing the user to possess two fruit abilities!]

[Note: The conflict between fruits should not be too great, otherwise the consequences are at your own risk.]

"Five skill points? That's a pretty rare reward. With the current skill points accumulated to 31, I'll soon have enough for another max-level ability."

"The second reward…"

Adrian looked at the panel's new Expertise with a puzzled expression.

No doubt, "Frost Affinity" was obtained from Kuzan.

But for a Ghost Fruit user…

What use does Frost Affinity have?!

The Ghost Fruit doesn't make ice! Shouldn't make ice, should it!?

And I inflicted more damage on that mad dog Sakazuki, even cutting him into a crippled dog!

So why didn't I get a good Expertise from Sakazuki, but instead got this odd Frost Affinity from Kuzan?

Adrian raised his palm and looked at the distinct lines on his hand, not feeling the so-called Frost Affinity at all.

"So…"

"There's no such thing as a useless ability, only a useless Devil Fruit user… that's a lie!"

"Frost Affinity is a completely useless Expertise! And what does 20% colder means?"

Adrian then looked at the third, even more peculiar, random reward and started complaining again.

"Although it's random… why would it randomly generate a move that Roronoa Zoro won't use for another twenty years?"

"If it's truly random, why not give me a skill from Mihawk?"

"Even though those top swordsmen usually just use basic attacks without calling out their moves, I believe that when they do call out a move, it's definitely earth-shattering!"

"And Zoro has so many flashy and cool named moves, Great Quake… feels less impressive than 'Dead Man's Game'!"

Having completely given up hope, Adrian looked at the last reward and fell into utter shock.

"Devil Fruit Fusion Card?!!!"

{Don't freak out!! There is already a shadow fruit ability.}
