"So you mean, the Queen of Xiea may have already visited Charles? What did they talk about?" Shiller squinted and asked.
"I wish I knew." Strange's Eye of Agomoto began to glow in his hand, he grinned and said, "Even if they have past ties, I doubt they'd reignite the flames of passion on their first night of reunion, so it's probably nothing inappropriate for children. We can go and see for ourselves."
Having said that, the glow of the Time Gem engulfed them, Asgard's timeline shifted from night to day, then from day back to night again. When Shiller landed, he looked out the window again and saw the bright light from the engine of the Shi'ar Empire Spaceship as it descended.
A group of people disembarked from the spaceship, a carpet laid out on the ground. Asgard's guard stood on the other side of the carpet, Thor stepped forward, lightly thumping his chest with his fist. Descending from the spaceship, Lilandra touched the feathers at her temple with her right hand and made a slight curtsy.
The two parties greeted each other in their own national customs then entered the Fairy Palace together. A few phantoms stood on the balcony and Strange blinked and said, "It seems that after the Queen arrived at Asgard, the first thing she did after ending official meetings was to find Charles."
"Alright, I know they might be truly in love, but even if Professor Charles is single, hasn't the Queen already married?" Wong frowned, her expression was somewhat torn.
Miss Witch's age suggested she still believed in pursuing true love but, at the same time, her moral compass made her uncomfortable with infidelity within marriage. So, she felt somewhat anxious, fearing that she might hear something that would shatter her perceived image of Professor Charles.
But the expressions of Strange and Shiller were calm. Ignoring the complications of the matter, even if the Queen really planned to rekindle her old feelings with Charles, they weren't about to impose human morality on aliens. Who's to say their views on marriage and feelings weren't completely different?
Soon, several phantoms slipped to the balcony they had previously been on, a great place to eavesdrop.
Shiller knew that Charles would not casually use his mind-reading ability in Asgard. It wasn't that Professor X had high moral standards, it was that the cosmos was home to a diverse range of species. Not all species were as unaware of mind-reading as humans, if anyone found out it would cause serious trouble. Professor X was not so reckless.
So, the group was brazen, all of them craning their necks to look into the window of the room opposite. Sure enough, it wasn't long before a bright plume of feathers appeared in everyone's field of view.
"What are they saying?" Asked the puzzled Rocket Raccoon, who was being held in Shiller's arms. He saw two people moving their mouths in the window opposite but couldn't hear any sound.
"The Queen of Xiea has cast a spell to block sound, let me see if I can break it... This is not good, I can't make a large commotion here, otherwise we will be discovered. Shall we stop time and hide in the guest room?"
"Move aside, let me do it." The Scarlet Witch flicked her hair, Strange decisively took a step back, Wanda stepped forward, a flash of red light in her hands, and soon intermittent voices came into the hearing of the group.
"...I fear I truly need your help, Charles. You should understand me, if it weren't for the dire circumstances, I wouldn't have rushed here to find you!"
"Of course, I understand, Lylan, let's not bring up the past, we were both young then, arguing over many trivial things which now seem insignificant."
Charles sighed, showing a sad expression, and said, "In fact, I worry a lot about the situation in the Shi'ar Empire. When I was still at the Palace of Savage Wings, I could already see the knives hidden behind the smiles of those nobles. If the Shi'ar Empire falls into chaos, it will be disastrous for the cosmic situation and many innocent creatures will suffer, something none of us want to see."
"Precisely because of this, Charles, you should help me." Lilandra moved closer to Charles, Charles looked up at her from his seat, tears glittering in Lilandra's eyes.
"Over the years, I've been isolated in the Palace of Savage Wings, my brother's remaining forces are constantly attempting to shake my throne, the nobles are complacent, even believed my brother's decision back then was correct. They believe that as long as they can fully exploit the power of the M'kraan Crystal, they can forever claim to be the foremost of the Three Great Empires."
Lilandra's voice became sadder as she continued, "My economic policies to improve the lives of the citizens, and my plans to repel invasions from the other two empires, are all obstructed, totally powerless to implement."
"Now, they're again targeting the M'Kraan Crystal, wanting to use that potentially universe-destroying bomb to create a second large portal."
"The gods are blinded by the potential power they might gain, my foolish husband is entrapped by power, Charles, other than you, I can't think of anyone else who could help."
Charles reaches out, gently touches the feathers at the back of Lilandra's head. He looks into Lilandra's eyes and says, "I think you should understand, mutants can help you once or twice, but not forever."
