Yvonne's hand was shaking a little. "Who took her?" 

The receptionist pulled up a signing sheet. "It was someone named Javier." 

Yvonne's heart finally settled after hearing the receptionist say that Javier had picked up her daughter. The wave of relief that washed over her was quickly replaced by a surge of frustration. Why would Javier take Alisa without informing her? When did he even come back? These questions swirled in her mind as she quickly called his number. The phone barely rang before Javier answered. 

"Where did you take Alisa?" she asked, her voice sharp with worry and irritation. 

"She's with me at my company," he replied calmly. 

Yvonne ended the call without another word and immediately set out for Javier's office. Her mind raced as she decided to take a taxi to the company. The whole situation felt surreal and maddening. Javier had always been predictable, but this was beyond anything she could have anticipated.
