The business suite that Alonso's people opened for her was twice the size of Natalie's old apartment. After a bath, she lounged in Alonso's hotel bed wearing a black bathrobe. Feeling like every bone in her body was aching, she closed her eyes and tried hard to stay awake.
He said he wouldn't be long. He should be here any minute now.
When she opened her eyes again, she frowned at the sudden darkness around her realizing that she had dozed off for what might have been hours. The reason for her waking up became apparent when her phone vibrated on the pillow next to her.
She eagerly grabbed it, but her mood dropped because the person calling wasn't Alonso.
"Uncle?" Her voice cracked.
"Natalie! Where the hell are you? How could you have gone through all of that drama without calling me? I've been losing my mind in this mansion waiting for you, and I have to hear all about it from someone else?"
