Hiss! Klein felt an inexplicable fear welling up in his chest. Instinctively, he leaned back, trying to create some distance between himself and the book. He was so weak that he almost lost his balance, but he managed to grab onto the edge of the table with trembling hands. Soft murmurs seemed to echo in the chaotic air around him.
System, can you please explain what is happening? What was that? What do you mean by devouring my soul?

After a few minutes, the wound closed, leaving only traces of blood.
"System, it's you who's helping me heal," Klein said, his voice filled with awe.

He slumped against the desk, the weight of his predicament pressing down on him. The thought of returning to Earth, to a life free from impending doom, filled him with a desperate longing. At least there, he wouldn't have to worry about an apocalypse.
