Nodding to Jean, I entered my first-period math class; entering the classroom, the desks were placed in rows pointing to the whiteboard to my right, with most of them already occupied as some of the students looked up at me, prompting me to greet them with a nod but only a few bothered to respond the gesture. I already knew Jean and Pete didn't have my first period; I don't know about Gwen, as I haven't been able to talk with her today, though after doing a quick look, I noticed she wasn't here, which meant she more than likely didn't have my class since I've never seen her late for anything.
'Well, that sucks, but whatever.' Thought Pharaoh as he walked to the first open desk and sat down, only to freeze when he heard a slightly familiar voice calling him.
"Pharaoh, over here!" Said a cute young girl with black hair and green tips as she waved toward Pharaoh while pointing at an empty desk right beside her.
Looking up, I spotted Lily, one of Jean's closest friends, who I'm pretty sure has a crush on me, sitting a few rows back. I wasn't as close to her as Jean, but because of her, I'd say Lily and I were friends; there was nothing wrong with Lily; it's just it's quite challenging making friends with children when you've got the mind of an adult. Even if my mental age might've regressed a little from having been treated like a child for so long, I've still got the mind of an adult, and I found kids to be more annoying than anything.
Picking up my backpack, I had just sat down; I walked over to Lily and sat down next to her while eyeing her, checking her heart, which I noticed was beating significantly faster than what should be her resting rate.
'Yeah, I'm almost certain she's got a crush on me; well, I am that nigga, so I can understand.' Thought Pharaoh with a slight smirk as he looked up at Lily's face, which had a slight tint of red on her freckled cheeks.
"D-Do I have something on my face?" Asked Lily curiously, trying to hide her nervousness while looking at Pharaoh with a smile.
"Nope, I was just looking at your purple eyes; they're quite beautiful." Replied Pharaoh lightly with a friendly smile while shaking his head and leaning back, causing Lily's blush to deepen.
"W-W-Well, I-I also think y-your p-purple e-eyes are b-beautiful." Muttered Lily quietly with her head down while fidgeting, and although the normal person wouldn't have heard her, Pharaoh sure did.
"Thanks, Lily." Said Pharaoh while glancing at Lily, only to raise an eyebrow at what she was doing.
'Eh, well, Jean did say she was kinda weird.' Mused Pharaoh as he watched Lily awkwardly fidget, though just when she gained the courage to open her mouth, the bell rang.
Shortly after the bell rang, a short but stocky man entered the classroom while closing the door behind him.
"Alright, class, settle down a little; my name's Mr. Dotson; I'm your math class teacher, obviously. So, how many of you are eager to dive deeper into Math?" Stated Mr. Dotson with a slight smile as he looked around the room, though no one else did other than Lily and a few other people raising their hands.
(Note: my fifth-grade math teacher was called Mr. Dotson, and he was a short buff man; he was also cool as fuck.)
"Well, better than what I expected; last year, I only had one person raise their hand. Anyway, just like all years, I'll be trying my best to make learning in my class enjoyable; though, while you are too young to grasp it fully, learning is not a punishment most of you see it as. It's the way you're taught; I'm hoping to change that. I, myself, have a passion for Math, and I'd like to spread it to you all." Declared Mr. Dotson with a smile as he turned around and wrote his name at the top, rightmost corner of the whiteboard with a black marker.
"So, before we get things started, let's take some attendance, and while doing so, I'll have each of you say some things about yourself to the class. I know most of you don't want to do that, but that's also the reason why." Said Mr. Dotson as he approached his desk in the left corner of the room before sitting down, grabbing a piece of paper, and reading names aloud.
I was honestly hardly paying attention to the other children as I was busy searching for Gwen's voice, which I hadn't managed to find before it was my turn.
"Pharaoh Kent; Pharaoh? Never heard that name before." Remarked Mr. Dotson with a raised eyebrow before looking directly at Pharaoh.
"Yeah, my dad wanted me to name me Clark; ay, I love my Dad, but that was a lame ass name." Replied Pharaoh with a shake of his head as he fixed his posture, his words causing everyone to be slightly taken aback by his cursing.
"No cussing, Pharaoh." Said Mr. Dotson, and although he was reprimanding Pharaoh, from the tone of his voice, he didn't seem to care all that much.
"My bad; anyways. The names Pharaoh or Tut, whichever you prefer. I enjoy playing basketball; my favorite show is Ben 10, with Spongebob being a close contender, and that's about it. If you wish to learn anything more, you must pay for the full subscription." Stated Pharaoh lightly while looking around at the various students, though just the fact that he cussed and didn't get in trouble had already put him in the cool books of everyone.
"Heh, I don't know about Ben 10, but I do love me some Spongebob; my wife got me into it." Remarked Mr. Dotson with a slight smile while Pharaoh grinned.
"Have you seen the Spongebob movie? That shit was hilarious! Especially when Patrick was like, we're on a baby hut, and don't you think we don't know how to weeeeed 'em out!" Exclaimed Pharaoh while grinning as he stood up and mimicked Patrick's lines, causing almost everyone in the classroom to chuckle.
"Don't even get me started on, 'Now that we're men', song." Said Mr. Dotson with a chuckle as he shook his head and sighed, ignoring the fact that Pharaoh had cussed again.
"People are going to be talking about Spongebob for generations; I put money on that." Said Pharaoh confidently as he sat back at his desk with a smirk.
"I'm not participating in a bet; I know I'll lose." Added Mr. Dotson as he regained his composure and read everyone else's names.
Besides my introduction, everyone else was somewhat lame in comparison, and I don't mean to hate on a friend, but Lily's was also rather lame. Anyways, after we finished with roll call, Mr. Dotson started talking about what he'd be teaching us over the course of the year, and while he was doing that, I had finally found Gwen's voice, and surprisingly, she was actually in the classroom right in front of me.
'Tch, maybe if she'd open her mouth more, I would've found her sooner.' Thought Tut with a slight frown while shaking his head at his friend.
The rest of the class, either Mr. Dotson was speaking or I was talking with Lily, which was a little more one-sided than I would have liked, but it was fine. Once the bell rang, we all grabbed our backpacks and stood up while heading for the door.
"Ay, see ya later, teach!" Yelled Pharaoh while walking out of the classroom with Lily right behind him.
"Don't go cussing in front of other teachers; they aren't as laid back as I am." Advised Mr. Dotson as he waved his hand while Pharoah and Lily turned the corner, heading to their next class.
"So, what class do you have next, Lily? I've got P.E.." Asked Pharaoh curiously while casually walking beside Lily.
"Um, I-I've got science class." Replied Lily with a slightly downcast expression, which Pharaoh misinterpreted.
"What, don't like science?" Asked Pharaoh with a raised eyebrow as he looked down at Lily walking beside him, going in the opposite direction of her class.
"N-No, it's good; I-I just didn't want science for the second period, you know, since you're not fully awake." Said Lily as she quickly came up with a believable lie, which Pharoah determined was a lie, but he didn't bother pressing the matter.
"Anyways, I'm pretty sure science class is behind us; I'm going to P.E., so seeya later, Lily." Stated Pharaoh as he turned around and leaned against the wall while pointing down the crowded hall they had just walked down.
"O-Oh, yeah, nearly forget; s-see you later P-Pharaoh." Remarked Lily with a blush of embarrassment as she turned around and walked away while Gwen gave her a weird look.
"What's wrong with her?" Asked Gwen with a raised eyebrow as she neared Pharoah.
"Eh, don't know, she wouldn't tell me, but I think it's got something to do with science class. Speaking of class, where the hell were you this morning? Pete could've used some assistance; he was getting jumped by three seventh graders. I had to come in there and save him." Remarked Pharaoh with furrowed brows as he looked at Gwen, who widened her eyes in shock at such news.
"What!? Is Peter fine!? He didn't get any serious injuries, right!?" Exclaimed Gwen worriedly as she lunged toward Pharaoh while checking his body, to which he pushed her away.
"Back off; I showed those cowardly ass bitches whose boss, they didn't even touch me; Pete got a little ruffed up, but other than a few bruises, he's fine. He got up afterward like it was nothing." Replied Pharaoh with a shake of his head while Gwen sighed in relief.
