Capítulo 24: Chapter 24: Anecdotes and Flying Class

Extra chapter~

In Alaric's eyes, all the professors at Hogwarts were undoubtedly highly accomplished.

Even Severus Snape, with his gloomy and awkward demeanor, was still deserving of being a master in Potions, in Alaric's opinion.

The only two classes he found difficult were History of Magic and Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Alaric felt that the History of Magic class was not very useful for him. Remembering the time of the Goblin Rebellions and the establishment of magical laws seemed meaningless.

As for the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Professor Quirrell was not only foolish but also sinister. Alaric couldn't learn anything useful from him. So, whenever these two classes came around, he would discreetly skip them and hide in the library.

Professor Binns, the History of Magic teacher, was completely unaware of this. The ghost, who had lived for almost a thousand years, had very limited knowledge of the students. He had never even correctly called a student's name.

As for Professor Quirrell, he dared to be angry but dared not speak. He was a weak-willed person with Voldemort living on the back of his head, making him paranoid and fearful all the time.

Apart from studying, other aspects of life at Hogwarts were quite interesting, such as the moving staircases.

There were a total of 142 of them. Some were wide and big, others were narrow and shaky. Some changed directions every Friday, and some went only halfway, with a step disappearing suddenly, forcing you to remember where to jump.

Moreover, there were many doors that won't open unless you asked them politely or poked them in the right place. Some doors were not real doors at all, just solid walls that looked like doors.

Remembering where everything was not easy because everything seemed to be constantly moving.

People in the portraits also visited each other constantly, and even suits of armor could walk.

For Alaric, experiencing these moving staircases in person was entirely different from watching them in movies or reading about them in books.

These supposedly fascinating moving staircases, which were portrayed as interesting in movies and books, brought him a lot of trouble in his daily activities.

He felt that anyone with even a slight sense of direction would get lost in Hogwarts.

The people in the portraits didn't bother him much, but as a polite person, greeting the portraits frequently became a tiresome task.

However, Argus Filch, the caretaker, and his cat Mrs. Norris, who frightened most young wizards in the original work, didn't cause him much trouble.

On the one hand, it was because he didn't cause any trouble, and on the other hand, Himari's presence made Mrs. Norris always kept her distance from Alaric.

As a cat demon, Himari was like a big sister among all the cats at Hogwarts. All cats, even those with a squib lineage, listened to her.

When Alaric was in class or at the library, Himari would sometimes wander around the castle by herself, and no one would harm her.

Students liked her, and even the mischievous twins George and Fred Weasley respected her. Peeves, who was notorious for pranks, instinctively stayed away from her, probably because she was a cat demon.

As a result, people often saw a white cat leading a group of cats of various sizes and colors parading around the castle, becoming a new wonder at Hogwarts.

Sometimes, even Orianna would ride on Himari and stroll around with her.

Apart from all these, there was one thing at Hogwarts that Alaric paid special attention to.

It was something he both looked forward to and felt conflicted about—broomstick flying.

In fact, Alaric was looking forward to Professor Hooch's flying class. After all, flying had been a dream of humanity for a long time. He himself always imagined soaring freely in the sky.

Given his current level of magical ability, flying was still an unrealistic dream for him—also because the Harry Potter world itself did not have direct flying magic.

But right now, there was a shortcut to achieving this goal: flying broomsticks.

For Alaric, flying was cool, but riding a broomstick was too silly.

Flying on a Surfboard was cool, but riding a flying broomstick was silly. That was his point of view.

However, Hermione didn't think so. Perhaps because as a muggle born she had never even tried it, but for Alaric who had seen it in movies felt that riding a flying broomstick was a little funny.

Since the news of Neville breaking his leg during the flying class had spread to Ravenclaw, Miss "Know-It-All" became even more nervous about the upcoming flying class.

In the library, she borrowed a book called "Quidditch Through the Ages" and read it carefully several times.

In her spare time, she kept muttering some flying guidance from this book and repeatedly asked Cho Chang, who had excellent flying skills, to describe the feeling of riding a broomstick. Even the easygoing Cho Chang was annoyed by her constant questions.

Other young wizards were also somewhat uneasy. As the flying class approached, more and more students started discussing flying and Quidditch.

Among the new students, those from wizarding families would boast about how they played games on broomsticks during the holidays, and Muggle-born students could only envy them
