Capítulo 28: Golfing with Jay
It has been 4 weeks since my wrist injury. Today I went to the last check-up. My wrist was already healed.
It was incredibly fast. The doctor has never seen someone heal that fast. He had only heard of it.
It was probably due to my excellent ability to recover due to the Apollo template.
Everything was back to normal but today Jay came over to my house to ask me for a favor.
He would go golfing today and needed a partner as today was a special day in his golf club, where you needed two people to golf together.
He knew from Gloria that I could golf. I told her once when I taught her English.
We drove towards his golf club which wasn't far away in his car.
"Hey, is The King here with his grandson", an old-looking man with a younger guy said to Jay.
"This is the boyfriend of my granddaughter Haley. You have seen her once when she was a kid. You remember her, Gus?", Jay told the other guy.
The two talked for a bit and we walked into the golf club.
After separating ways with them I asked Jay what was on with his nickname.
"I am called the king in here mostly due to my golf skills and kid. I know you know golf from Gloria. I once achieved a Hole-in-one.", he told me with a proud smile.
I smiled.
My golf skills probably surpassed Jays by quite a bit as I had gained the Happy Gilmore template a while ago.
Me and Jay began golfing. We chose a typical 18-hole course. At first he wanted to show me the basics. He probably wanted to show off.
I just made my first swing and Jay was stunned.
"Wow, Ethan. Your posture is excellent. That was really good beginners luck. Now look at my posture. Try to copy it next time if you can't replicate it again", he told me thinking it was just luck.
After more and more tries Jay was more and more stunned. At first, he still thought that it would be beginner's luck, but after some time he gave up on that and started to recognize my skill.
In the end, I finished the course with 69 strokes, which was pretty common with professionals. It was even pretty bad if you consider my Happy Gilmore template. The reason was that I never played golf before and I didn't know the golf course in this club.
But I was still way better than Jays 85. Even though that was still very good for the club we were playing.
"I don't know what to say kid. You are as good as I was in my golfing prime", Jay said still trying to act proud.
"Thanks, Jay. That's a huge compliment", I said not wanting to hurt his pride.
After that we ate and drove home.
The next time I drove to the Dunphys I got Claire's praise.
"I heard you beat my father in golfing Ethan, good job", she said with schadenfreude in her voice.
