"My mom was a high-end escort. One of her clients got her pregnant and somehow she didn't abort me like she did others," Zyair sighed with a huff, the pain in his eyes gleaming.

Skyla rubbed his bare chest, letting him know she was there for him every step of the way.

"But I was an unwanted child and she made it clear from the beginning. She wanted to have nothing to do with me. I was mostly left to fend for myself. That's how I learnt to cook."

Zyair woundedly smiled at the memories as he stared straight ahead. His hands lovingly held Skyla like a lifeline.

The stinging ache in Skyla's heart was growing with each word he uttered and yet she listened holding her tears back. She couldn't even imagine having a mother like that so in contrast to her own.
