Beta Lucas' POV

"Don't you dare touch me again!"

Her words reverberate in my head. I groan. I can't imagine not touching my mate, I truly can't.

Both shocked and furious, I walk calmly to my room, dragging my feet along. If only I had ignored her scent and just laid back in bed after the cold shower, but I wanted to prove a dumb point.

Well proven, I scoff.

After what seems like ages, I arrive at the south wing and in front of my door. Scrambling for the key, I pull out a bunch and insert the right one in the lock, before entering and shutting the door.

For long seconds, I plaster myself on the door, panting like a chased deer. I puff, trying everything within my reach to stabilize my fast-paced heartbeat.

I shouldn't have started her, it was all my fault. I swallow dryly, solely taking the blame.
