She paused before Caleb's chamber, taking several long, steadying breaths before slipping into the secret entrance.

She knocked on the back door, and entered upon Caleb's acknowledgment, seeing him sitting at a writing desk, scratching a quill upon parchment.

Snowball sat upon the desk, and each time the quil's ink tip got near enough, his little paw swiped out to strike it.

When Caleb was just about to write another word, the cat's paw batted it.

"Hey!" Caleb sighed heavily and glared at Snowball, who glared back. "You're not helping, you know. You're supposed to be behaving yourself while your mama is out there."

Snowball stared at the prince, blinking, seeming completely unaffected by Caleb's tone, his paw twitching in preparation to knock the prince's pen to the side again.

Caleb rolled his eyes, clearly not impressed with the cat's attitude.

Snowball glanced to his mama and meowed at her before jumping to her to be picked up.
