Returning to town in the afternoon, Nan Feng, to express her gratitude to Ye Ge, wanted to invite him for noodles. Ye Ge readily agreed.
As Nan Feng was eating her noodles and flipping through a book, her face showed a sign of trouble.
Ye Ge put down his bowl and asked her, "Do you need my help?"
Nan Feng, of course, was keen to nod in agreement.
It was a book without punctuations, some of which were the very early pictographs, requiring some guessing.
Ye Ge picked up the book of 'Introduction to the Art of Machinery' in her hand, glanced at it and pointed to the characters and read it out: "A crossbow cart, placed on the city wall, which is a large mechanical device capable of releasing sixty large crossbow arrows and numerous small ones at the same time..."
