Tabitha might speak to her for slapping Jane and when that time came, Hazel needed all the puzzle pieces.

Julia opened her mouth to speak but then opted to run away from Hazel. She couldn't let it be shared what she was tasked to do. She had already failed one job and now the princess had spotted her. She might be punished for this.
