Amanda went downstairs, feeling a bit lazy, and she brushed her long hair aside as she softly asked the cook, "When will dinner be ready?"

She was really a bit hungry after sleeping all afternoon.

"It'll be ready soon," the cook replied with a smile, "The chicken soup is almost done, once it's ready we can eat."

Amanda nodded and glanced at the mother and son sitting by the sofa before slowly walking over to sit opposite them.

The warm setting sun bathed her in its glow as Amanda leaned against the soft sofa, feeling sleepy once again.

Mrs. Johnson was still talking about something with Samuel. Amanda knew it was Samuel's birthday party, but this lively day had nothing to do with her.
