Chapter 75

A few weeks passed since Leonardo entered Gotham and like he thought. He was causing a headache for both criminals and the police station. The large amount he hauled in quickly filled up the holding cells and forced most police to work overtime to process them. Which made the crime rate in the city drop by a point or two.

That in itself was an achievement and it showed signs of lightly increasing. However, Leonardo knew that the gangs were preparing to go on the offensive against him. While a few corrupted cops that attempted to frame him were rewarded with silver cuffs.

Which is how he knew since the cops that were arrested were paid to frame him. Not to mention if his crew kept getting arrested, he would retaliate too. Though what made him slightly sad was Commissioner Gordon asking him to hold back on arresting so many criminals daily. Since, they can't deal with them all as fast as he can catch them. Not to mention many were more of the petty thieves.

Hence in the end, Leonardo just shifted his attention a bit and tended to warn the less violent thieves. While bringing in human traffickers, murderers and such people. Using his experience he got from the Fortress and using his abilities. He easily locked on and gathered the evidence since most just committed the crime fairly recently.

"Officer Kent! Officer Rolan! Get moving to Jewelry Stone on St. XX. They just got robbed and they stole over five million. I need you two to get there and close off the scene until the forensic and detectives can get there." Commander Gordon roared from his office.

"On the way." Rolan shouted.

After getting discharged, Rolan returned and paired up with Leonardo instead of Collins. Leonardo got to know this slightly twig built young man who was nearing thirty. He had slightly long hair that reached the base of his neck and slightly rough face.

What worried Leonardo the most about Rolan was his slightly careless attitude. For the man was in such a hurry, he forgot his gear. Leonardo rolled his eyes and grabbed it before following Rolan towards the building exit.

--

Upon arriving at the jewelry store, there was a smashed window and the countertops showed signs of something smashing them. However, it just made Leonardo a bit suspicious since only one showed signs of smashing. Since it either showed only one crew member didn't get the memo or there was only one thief.

Yet as Leoanrdo looked around, he saw the scuffed marks on the ground showing multiple shoe sizes. Many of which were recent and didn't match the employees shoes nor the janitors who were in the bathroom during the robbery. Added his suspicious feeling he has been getting since before leaving the station. Leonardo felt this scene was staged, but he and Rolan were just here to maintain order.

"Is there something wrong with this scene?" Rolan asked.

Due to Leonardo spending some time looking at the scene. Rolan felt that Leonardo would do something again. Which was a given as Leonardo began to scan the store and found the stolen gems tucked below the floorboard in the cash office.

Then Leonardo's eyes soon shifted over to the manager and salesperson. Where he shook his head as they weren't involved, however the janitor on the other hand was behaving a bit suspiciously. His eyes kept shifting to the cash office and then at them which made his heart accelerate when he noticed Leonardo looking at him.

"Alright, I think I solved the case." Leonardo said as he walked over to the janitor who tensed with each step.

"Can I help you?" The janitor man asked.

The man was balding and had a few tattoos, but were more of anime characters then tough man tattoos. Not to mention the way his eyes kept shifting, he wasn't a hardcore criminal or probably a criminal at all, but knows who is.

"This robbery is a fraud isn't it." Leonardo just flat out stated it.

The man freezes for a moment. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Leonardo just gave him a bored look which just unnerved the man more. Finally the man broke after a few moments. Since the man was fairly weak willed.

"It was Emily and my cousin Ashly who arranged this. Rumor has it that Boss Mike offered Emily a one night stand for a fairly high pay raise. However, he never gave it so she wanted revenge and a nice payday." The man began to spill.

Leonardo also noted as the man continued to spill all the things. The man seems to have a bit of mental illness and not very there. Which is the reason he is able to know so much of what he spills, since either woman by the sounds of it didn't bother to hide it from him.

"Their plan has two different ideas or end goals if it needs to. The first is to hide the jewels they took and stage the scene like it was fraud. If the plan fails and Mike doesn't spend a very uncomfortable time in a cell for a while, he at least could be fired. Then they would come in later and take the jewelry out. Thus earning what they call a good pay day."

The man's eyes shifted over to the woman who was easily chatting away with her co-worker. Studying the woman in question, the woman was a blonde with slightly decent looks that wasn't to write home about, but not bad either. She wasn't slender nor skinny, but slightly chubby in a few spots.

"Do you have anything to back up your words?" Leonardo asked.

"Yes, yes. The gear they were preparing for this is in this storage container." The man quickly wrote down an address.

Leonardo just took the paper and soon radio for some others to go check it out. Since he still needed to stand here and maintain some order from the small crowd that gathered around.

--

In the end, the man's information was correct and the women after getting a pair of nice silver cuffs confessed. They didn't seem so bothered about being caught, while also getting a deal if they handed over information about some other high profile crimes. The pair seemed to have information about a criminal group called Court of Owls or something like that.

Getting off work, Leonardo felt his phone vibrating. Upon seeing who was calling, Leonardo looked at the sky wondering what could be wrong now. For the one calling was Clark and in the last few weeks. He and Lana have ups and downs in their relationship.

"Hello, Clark." Leonardo answered. "Did you finally tumble in the hay yet?"

"No, he didn't." Lana replied.

"Clark, did you get a name and gender change?" Leonardo joked. "Did you get some nice tits?"

"Can you be serious for once?" Lana complained.

"Oh, but I am. Anyways, why do you have Clark's phone?" Leonardo asked.

"I knew you wouldn't answer if I called with my own phone." Lana sighed.

"So what is up?" Leonardo just smiled.

"Clark is busy trying to save the day like always. Anyways the reason I am calling is I hope you can give me some answers." Lana asked. "I can feel that Clark and Chloe are hiding something from me and won't let me help or answer my question. I was hoping you could tell me?"

"Why in the world would I know or should care what those two are working on? The two are adults and can handle their own adventures. Well most of the time." Leonardo retorted. "As for what he is hiding? Who knows, probably how much he likes my hidden paintings I left at the farm for him."

"I threw them out." Lana grumbled.

"Well, that just mean. It took a lot of work to draw some of those." Leonardo lightly complained.

He truthfully didn't mind since they were just copies but neither Lana nor Clark needed to know that part. Most of his originals were now stored in Aurora Mother's house with some copies in her studios.

"You're not going to tell me are you?" Lana complained.

"Can't tell you what I don't know." Leonardo replied and hung up.

This was true since he didn't know what Clark was hiding. Well outside of being a Kryptonian.
