Capítulo 114: Not pure anymore

Observing the fallen apple, Adrian recognized that it was time to momentarily set aside his own pursuits and delve into the mysteries of Vyrtalis's later actions and perhaps even uncover the details of his life.

Rising to his feet and surveying the area where the fruit had fallen, Adrian laid eyes on a pink-colored apple. Its peculiar hue stirred a strange sensation within him.

'Why does it feel like something that I shouldn't look through?'

Lifting the apple and noticing its radiant glow, much like the previous two, Adrian intuited that it harbored a stored memory. The nature of the memory, however, remained a mystery, shrouded in uncertainty for him.

Returning to the familiar spot where he had sat on the previous occasions, Adrian reclined this time, contemplating whether to consume the apple immediately or to exercise patience in unraveling its potential significance.

After a moment of contemplation, Adrian decided to take the first bite, and as expected, the familiar sweetness enveloped his taste buds—the same delightful flavor he had experienced with the previous two apples.

To Adrian, the heavenly taste surpassed any he had ever encountered, marking this peculiar fruit as a unique and delectable discovery in his life.

The melting sweetness of the apple in his mouth triggered a sudden, powerful beat from Adrian's heart.

'This is new.'

Disregarding the unusual rhythm of his heart—distinct from the previous occasions—Adrian consumed the entire apple without interruption. He then settled down, anticipating the familiar descent into the realm of slumber that had followed the previous encounters.

This time, the effects were swifter. Soon after finishing the apple, Adrian succumbed to a wave of dizziness and drowsiness. Without resisting, he allowed his body to succumb to the embrace of sleep.

Vyrtalis's pov:

"AHNNNN~ S-SLOW DOWN VYRTALIS."

"What do you mean, slow down? You're the one who likes it rough," Vyrtalis uttered with a playful tone, his words accompanied by the sensuous act of licking the earlobe of a woman who appeared anything but human.

"LIKE HELL I WILL WATCH SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!"

Adrian abruptly jolted awake from the dream, the vivid and unsettling imagery affecting his mental well-being to such an extent that he felt a surge of discomfort, nearly causing him to spit out blood.

"THAT DAMN MOTHERFUCKER. SHE WASN'T EVEN HUMAN!"

Observing Adrian's animated distress and hearing his loud outbursts, the heels executed a tactical retreat, wisely distancing themselves further as if enrolled in the "Avoid Adrian's Wrath" survival training program.

Adrian struggled to regain composure, but the vivid scene had left an indelible mark on his memory, prompting an exaggerated thought of wishing he could erase it by resorting to extreme measures, like taking a metaphorical plunge off the cliffs of absurdity.

"Perhaps a well-timed head-bonk on a rock might do the trick. I've seen it in movies—smack your head, forget your problems! Yes, this is it! The only way to obliterate this cursed memory. Farewell, dignity! Sorry, Emilie, your big brother's purity is officially on the rocks. Suicide by head-bonk is the heroic sacrifice our memories deserve!"

Despite Adrian indulging in his crazy monologue, he remained seated in the exact spot, not by choice but due to some unseen force conspiring against his mobility.

He wasn't able to get up.

He didn't want to get up.

He knew his dignity would be tarnished in front of the heels if he got up.

His once seemingly adorable pet had morphed into a full-fledged dragon, gearing up for a dramatic deathmatch, and Adrian was too embarrassed to spill the beans about this unexpected turn of events.

'Calm down. It's not my fault. The memories make me feel as if it's me in Vyrtalis's place.'

Seeking solace by convincing himself that it wasn't his fault but that of the elusive scoundrel, Adrian managed to quell his agitation.

"Wait, I rushed out of that memory way too fast. What if he was after some crucial information or, planning to finish her off?" Adrian pondered, attempting to make sense of the chaotic thoughts racing through his mind.

"Like hell as if! That shifty bastard was there to 'finish her off,' alright, but in a completely different and questionable manner!" Adrian retorted.

Adrian persisted with his vocal performance for precisely 2 hours and 7 minutes, a timeframe meticulously calculated by the heels, although they couldn't rule out the possibility of a comedic margin of error.

"I can't even concentrate on the runes now. My mind is so scrambled thanks to that nincompoop. If I ever lay eyes on him, I'm giving him a piece of my mind, and maybe a piece of my stick."

Adrian cursed, tossing the stick aside, thoroughly vexed by the lingering effects of his unsettling experience.

"I should have trusted my instincts when I saw that pink apple. Even my gut feeling was yelling, 'Don't do it!'" Adrian lamented, acknowledging the wisdom of his own intuition.

Exhaling a heavy sigh, Adrian reclined as the night deepened around him. Fearful of the lingering effects of the apple, he hesitated to return to sleep, uncertain of when the peculiar influence would wear off.

Adrian's mental fortitude was already worn thin, unable to withstand another potential onslaught of distressing memories. Fatigue weighed heavily on him. Gazing up at the tree, he couldn't help but wonder about the peculiar transformation it had undergone.

'Did Vyrtalis make a relic for this tree as well? He really is a genius.' thought Adrian as the tree wasn't like this from the beginning.

Ultimately, he remained himself, and Adrian was Adrian – two individuals with distinct tales to tell. Despite any disdain Adrian might harbor for his actions, he couldn't dismiss the undeniable truth that Vyrtalis possessed a genius within him.

Adrian's fascination with Vyrtalis stemmed from their shared status as coreless beings.

Despite the seemingly joyful moments depicted in Vyrtalis's memories, Adrian was eager to unravel the mystery of how he navigated survival and scaled the peaks of his existence throughout his lifetime.

"NO, NOT THAT KIND OF PEAKS, DAMNIT! I mean, sure, he had his share of highs, but I'm talking about life achievements, not... you know, the other kind!"

On this fateful night, the creatures scattered throughout the forest found themselves wide awake, unable to catch a wink of sleep.

The agonized screams of a once pure young man, now tormented by the curse of memories, echoed through the trees, leaving the entire woodland in a state of restless disturbance.

While it had indeed been the worst night for many creatures, there was one exception. A particular entity lay in wait, eagerly anticipating any clue that could lead it to Adrian.

In a distant corner of the vicinity, a multitude of peculiar bugs and small animals went about their business, blissfully unaware of the chaotic events near the tree.

Abruptly, the normally composed bugs and creatures heard the discordant shouts and simultaneously turned their heads in unison, a sight that would have been normal if not for the eerie and utterly impossible smiles spreading across their faces.

Somehow, these bugs and monsters managed to wear grins that defied the boundaries of their anatomies.

"Found you~"

In a world of pure intent, a tale unfolds,

Of a character whose purity, comedy molds.

Once untarnished, now a bit askew,

A pinch less pure, but laughter anew.
