"Safiya?" She heard Laila calling her, but her eyes were fixed ahead, thinking of what had just happened.

Was it a dream? Oh Papa—she had seen Papa after so many years. Was it truly him?

Laila stood up from where she sat and walked up to Safiya, then sat beside her and gripped her hand tightly. "Are you okay?"

Safiya looked at Laila slowly, watching her hand where she held. It was strange. This girl was offering support, and she also loved the sword just like she did. Though she was the same age as Sheby, there was so much different. Sheby was scared of even coming close to her, even though she cared. But Laila was so bold and mature.

She took a deep breath and gave Laila a warm smile. She didn't have to show that she wasn't okay; she wouldn't let her see it. "Thank you, Laila. I'm grateful."

Laila squeezed her hand and smiled back at her. "Please rest until you feel better, okay? I won't be here to see you eat."
