Capítulo 21: Unveiling Secrets

Within the confines of the chairman's office, a room that was once the pinnacle of order and decorum, chaos reigned supreme. The finely polished wooden floor was now littered with the shards of a once-pristine glass table vase. The shards glistened in the dim light, a stark contrast to the usual elegance of the room.

The broken glass table vase lay in pieces, its crystal-clear beauty shattered. It had been the centerpiece of the office, a symbol of grace and sophistication, but now it was reduced to a mere heap of fragments. The vibrant flowers it once held were strewn across the floor, their petals trampled underfoot.

The office's walls, once adorned with exquisite paintings and certificates of achievement, now seemed to close in on the occupants. The artwork hung askew; some of the frames tilted, and others knocked off the walls entirely. The certificates, once a source of pride and honor, fluttered limply from the wall hooks.

The mahogany desk, which had served as the epicenter of decision-making and authority, was not spared from the mayhem. Papers, once neatly stacked, were now scattered haphazardly. The leather chair behind the desk was pushed aside, its wheels leaving marks on the carpet.

The window blinds were in disarray, some hanging precariously while others lay on the floor. Sunlight streamed in through the gaps, casting uneven patterns on the room's disarray.

In this scene of upheaval and disarray, it was evident that a fierce tempest of emotions had swept through the chairman's office, leaving behind a trail of destruction and chaos.

"Damn that witch, someday I will make sure to plunge a knife into that smirking face." The chairman was extremely angry because Agatha had almost derailed all his plans from being executed, so he had to return to his office to vent his anger.

"Chairman, it is better if you refrain from making such remarks carelessly; we do not know who would be listening to the words that you convey within the confines of your office".

In the disarrayed office, the chairman's young secretary, Sierra, went about her duties of fixing the office with an air of quiet efficiency. She was an attractive woman in her early twenties, known for her striking beauty and sharp intellect. Her long, ebony hair cascaded down her back in a smooth, glossy curtain. It was neatly pulled into a low, professional bun that accentuated her elegant features. Her complexion was flawless, with smooth, porcelain-like skin.

Sierra's attire was always impeccable, reflecting her meticulous nature. She wore a charcoal gray pencil skirt that hugged her shapely figure, complemented by a crisp, white blouse with a high neckline, buttoned up to the top. A black blazer, tailored to perfection, added a touch of formality to her outfit. Her outfit conveyed a sense of authority and professionalism.

She had a pair of sleek, silver-rimmed glasses perched on her nose, which accentuated her keen, intelligent eyes. These glasses were more than just a stylish accessory; they concealed her true identity, serving as a disguise to keep her affiliations with Team Rocket a well-guarded secret.

Sierra's posture was always impeccable, and she moved with grace and confidence. Her manicured nails clicked softly as she typed notes on her tablet, and her fingers moved with precision as she organized documents on the chairman's desk.

Though many saw Sierra as the loyal and dedicated secretary to the chairman, what they did not know was her dual role as a high-ranking executive within Team Rocket, where her cunning and strategic mind were put to use in the pursuit of Team Rocket's shadowy goals. Her presence in the chairman's inner circle allowed her to gather valuable information, which she discreetly passed on to her true allegiance, furthering the aims of the secretive organization.

"Ah, Sierra, I apologize. I made a mess out of the office. I should learn better to control my anger," the chairman genuinely apologized to his secretary for the mess he had created.

While Sierra was going through the mess, a knock on the door was heard. Sierra went ahead to check, and after a few moments, she returned.

"Chairman, the CEO of Silph Co., Mr. Clover, accompanied by the CEO of Devon Corporation, Mr. Stone, are requesting a meeting with you. I have arranged for conference room 1. Would you like to take this meeting now, or should I reschedule it for a later time?" Sierra informed the chairman impeccably.

The chairman's frustrated face blossomed with happiness upon hearing the names of the people waiting to meet him.

"Ah, just the kind of people I wanted to meet at this time. Do not delay it; I would like to meet them right away. Make sure the entire conference room is secure." The chairman gave stern orders to his secretary and made sure that his looks and the suit that he was wearing were impeccable.

The chairman stood up, leaving behind his disheveled office, and followed Sierra to the conference room. His frustration was momentarily forgotten, replaced by a sense of anticipation at the prospect of meeting with such influential figures. Sierra, the epitome of grace and efficiency, led the way.

As they reached the conference room, the chairman could see that it had been meticulously prepared for the meeting. The long, polished table was surrounded by comfortable leather chairs, and the room was bathed in a soft, warm light. The ambiance exuded professionalism and power, making it the perfect setting for discussions of great importance.

Mr. Clover, the CEO of Silph Co, was already seated at one end of the table. He was a distinguished man who seemed to be in his early fifties, with a distinguished air and an aura of wealth and influence. He had an impeccably tailored charcoal gray suit and a subtle but expensive-looking silk tie. His salt-and-pepper hair was perfectly combed, and his shrewd eyes held a glint of ambition and intelligence. A tablet lay in front of him, indicating his readiness for the meeting.

On the opposite end of the table, Mr. Stone, the CEO of Devon Corporation, sat with an air of confidence and authority. He was slightly older, seemed to be in his mid-fifties, and exuded a sense of wisdom and experience. His attire was equally elegant, with a navy blue suit and a rich burgundy tie. His silver hair added to his distinguished appearance, and he had a firm, determined expression that spoke of a man who knew how to navigate the business world.

The chairman took his place at the head of the table, and Sierra positioned herself nearby, ready to assist in any way necessary. The room exuded an air of expectancy, and the stage was set for a meeting that could shape the future in significant ways.

"Mr. Chairman," Mr. Clover began, "we appreciate your promptness and willingness to meet with us today. We believe that what we have to discuss holds great significance for the region and for the League."

Mr. Stone nodded in agreement, and the meeting began, with important matters hanging in the balance.

Right when the chairman was about to start the meeting, the door to the conference room opened, and Giovanni walked in. He took a seat right across from the chairman, on the opposite end of the table. The chairman was confused by Giovanni's unexpected arrival and turned towards Sierra for clarification. She made a gesture to indicate that she was not aware of the situation either. Before the chairman could ask for an explanation, Mr. Stone clarified it for him.

"Ah, Mr. Chairman, I apologize for not informing you earlier. Mr. Giovanni here is a good friend of mine and my family's well-wisher. He is also someone from the league board, so I thought it would be a great idea to have him present during the meeting. I hope the chairman and Mr. Clover wouldn't mind the additional participant."

Mr. Stone conveyed the reason why Giovanni joined this high-profile meeting without an invitation. Mr. Clover didn't have any scruples about Giovanni's presence in the meeting. The chairman, however, was reluctant to have Giovanni there because this meeting would involve discussing top-secret information and his future plans. He didn't want to share more than necessary. Still, he decided to let the matter slide because most of his future plans relied heavily on the financial support and resources provided by the colossal Devon Corporation, and he couldn't afford to upset Mr. Stone at this crucial time and lose his support.

"Mr. Stone, it's absolutely fine to have Mr. Giovanni be a part of the meeting. Moreover, having insights from a man of Mr. Giovanni's caliber can only be beneficial. So let's talk about why we are gathered here today. We have already made contact with two new regions, the Hoenn and Sinnoh regions. Both governing bodies of these regions have mostly agreed to merge into the League and place themselves under our governance in its entirety, with a few exceptions from the Sinnoh region," the chairman conveyed the information in a measured manner.

"Chairman, I hope you understand our deal only stands if all known regions are under the League's total control and our corporations must have a major share in any business venture or research, you name it. You can have the power while we help ourselves to the profit," Mr. Stone declared the primary basis of their corporation.

"I understand the terms promised to your respective corporations, Mr. Stone, but in light of the new information that we have come across, we might have to make changes to the plan," the chairman started, revealing important information for the rest. Giovanni was keenly listening to every word the chairman conveyed.

"Why the sudden change, Mr. Chairman? I'm sure our plans are iron-clad. To suggest making changes to the plan at this juncture means you have found something significant," Mr. Stone inquired with a hint of curiosity. Even Giovanni was surprised to hear that the chairman was making changes to the plans. These plans had been carried out steadily for almost three decades, and making changes to such a well-laid-out plan was surprising.

"Yes, Mr. Stone, you are right. The League has known about the presence of other human regions for a long time, and we only officially declare the discovery when we can establish an official route. However, during one such endeavor to establish a route to Sinnoh, we made a major discovery in Sinnoh, at a place called Mount Coronet. If what our results have confirmed is accurate, we are looking at a portal to a whole new world." The news made Mr. Stone shoot up from his chair in shock. Even Giovanni, who always stays composed, had to grit his teeth to keep his composure. Even then, he couldn't help but widen his eyes because the information he received was way too significant.

"Chairman, are you absolutely sure about this information? If what you say is right, then this changes everything." Mr. Stone, who was shocked, didn't care about decorum anymore and simply demanded an answer from the League chairman.

Mr. Clover decided to join the conversation after receiving such groundbreaking information.

"Mr. Chairman, be honest. How long has the League known about such a significant discovery, and why were the corporations not made aware of this information? Are you trying to fool us, Mr. Chairman? Our alliance is based on profit, and if you keep such significant things from us, it makes us question your intentions. It would take a long time for you to come crashing down if mega-corporations like us stop supporting you."

Mr. Clover made a blatant threat because he was upset with the chairman for keeping such groundbreaking information from them. Mr. Stone also gave a nod, agreeing with Mr. Clover's words. He, too, felt that the League was not showing enough sincerity.

Even though the chairman was frustrated because of the way these people treated him without showing any respect for his position, he chose to swallow it for the time being. He had no other sources to fall back on if he lost support from mega corporations. With an apologetic smile, the chairman continued: "Mr. Clover, Mr. Stone, it was never our intention to keep the information from our partners. We were simply trying to make sure that we had confirmed all the information to avoid any false ideas. As for the portal, the League has known about it for six years now."

"Six years, six damn whole years! Are you even aware of what you are saying, Chairman? Maybe I should just walk out of this meeting, just like Lady Agatha did earlier," Mr. Stone was fuming. Most of them made a mental note that Mr. Stone was aware of what happened during the meeting just an hour before, so they realized he must have one or more League members in his pocket.

"Chairman, I hope you have an explanation for such a blunder. Do you know what the corporations could have achieved within the six years that you kept the information to yourself? We could have made so much progress and benefited from the monopoly." Both Mr. Clover and Mr. Stone were making their dissatisfaction known to the chairman. The chairman felt helpless with the backlash the information he shared was creating. However, someone unexpected came to his rescue. Giovanni, who had stayed silent since the start of the meeting, conveyed his opinion.

"Mr. Clover and Mr. Stone, I am sure the chairman has a valid explanation for the League keeping such information to itself. We must give him a chance to explain before we jump to conclusions. We all know how significant this discovery is, and it comes with its fair share of troubles. The location of the portal is in a new region that neither of us is familiar with. Pray tell me, now that we know about the portal, can you absolutely guarantee that the mega-corporations can utilize the portal without knowing the exact situation? If you can guarantee such a thing, then I will not bother with either of you cornering the chairman on this matter."

Like a master of wisdom, Giovanni's words made the two CEO's of the corporations start thinking. They felt that they were blaming the chairman without giving him a chance for an explanation. The chairman now genuinely felt delighted to have Giovanni in this meeting because, with this, he knew that he now had a chance to explain.

"Well, Mr. Chairman, what my friend Mr. Giovanni said seems logical. Before we jump to any conclusions prematurely, we would like to get the entire picture from you about the portal and why the information was kept from us." Mr. Stone calmed down a bit after Giovanni intervened, and Mr. Clover also tactically agreed, keeping his silence.

"Well, gentlemen, thank you for your understanding. Just like I mentioned earlier, it was never our intention to keep things from our partners, but we came across a significant obstacle when we tried to acquire control of the location and monopolize it. The League initially thought it would be better to share the information once we had control of the portal. But doing so is currently proving more than challenging for the League. Initially, we didn't face much opposition from the locals when we approached the mountain for studies, but once they got to know of our intention of controlling Mt. Coronet and its vicinity, conflicts started. The locals consider Mt. Coronet and its vicinity sacred grounds and have absolutely forbidden human intervention. But when we ignored their restrictions, conflicts started mounting. Originally, we thought we could control the situation with a small cull. However, the actions we took backfired. A few of the legacy families within Sinnoh who believe in the stupid legends came to the support of the locals surrounding Mt. Coronet, and once they got to know of the culling, they have been hunting down any League teams that have been exploring the Sinnoh region. Those madmen have even started attacking the teams responsible for laying out the official route. Originally, we had support from a few of the stronger legacy families, but after they became aware of the complete scenario, most have been withdrawing their support. Most in Sinnoh believe Mt. Coronet is a sacred place of worship and believe the place must not be disturbed, so this has proved to be a major hurdle. Now, after multiple conflicts, the region is on the brink of war in the name of stupid superstitions."

The chairman was frustrated because, originally, they had a good chance of getting the entire Sinnoh region under control, but the current situation had made the League's position vulnerable.

Dear readers and fans,

I hope you're enjoying this fanfiction journey as much as I am. It's been a labor of love, but I'm at a point where I'm considering how best to invest my time. While this story draws inspiration from an existing world, I've been passionate about building upon it, adding my own creative touches, and sharing it with you.

I want to maintain the essence of what fanfiction stands for: a community of like-minded individuals who come together to appreciate creativity. That's why I've decided to introduce a voluntary way for those who can afford it and believe in the value of my work to support me.

I'm in the process of setting up a Patreon account dedicated solely to donations. It's not about making this a profit-driven endeavor but rather a way for those who find value in my writing to show their appreciation and encouragement.

Your support, in whatever form it comes, will help me continue dedicating time and effort to this project. It's entirely voluntary, and your readership alone is already a fantastic reward.

Thank you for understanding and for being a part of this fanfiction adventure.
