"How do you suggest my apprentices are tested?" Jial asked Master Fay, only willing to work with her.
"How about I test them on some knowledge points as well as having a practice duel with one of the Knights that have come?" Master Fay suggested. Testing their knowledge about the Force would help Fay understand how they were taught. The two teens wouldn't be able to make an excuse when put on the spot since they did not have enough experience to fool someone like Fay. A duel would also put pressure on them and may have them revert to a Sith's style of combat.
"Fine with me," Jial agreed with Master Fay's suggestion. He could also understand where she was coming from but he was sure that his method of teaching differed enough from the Sith that they would not be able to tell he had learned from them.
"If you two are done eavesdropping and want to come up, you're more than welcome to now," Jial called out to the air
Two black, furry faces appeared over the edge of the roof looking at the group of Jedi and members of the Yautja shyly.
"Hehe. We were just getting some fresh air, Master," Nott rubbed the back of her head while making up the excuse.
"That's right!" Hash agreed with her sister's lie immediately. "We also wanted to get some more information on using the powers you showed us earlier cause we were having a..."
"Yeah, yeah," Jial waved off their attempt to get out of the trouble they were in. "Bring glory to the Yautja and get these Jedi off my back, and your punishment will be canceled. Fail and make me have to kill a bunch of Jedi, and I will make you two undergo Mandalorian training with Boxe for a year."
Several of the Jedi stood up and ignited their lightsabers when they heard Jial's threat but the one who had done the threatening did not move an inch. This was his turf. Jial was the one who determined who lived and died inside of it.
"Understood, Master!" the twins agreed
When they agreed to the test, a blue screen appeared in front of Jial's eyes.
[Mission Available
Mission: Have disciples pass the Jedi's test
Rewards: 1x Companion Summon]
'Been a minute since I've seen you, System,' Jial thought, figuring he would not get a response. Ever since the System reminded him that he could not leave the planet, the System had yet to give him any missions or paths to take, despite the large number of potential ones that Jial had expected.
[The System expects the Host to use its abilities to its fullest and there shall be periods of time without the System assisting the Host with missions and path options.] The System surprisingly explained itself and why Jial had not seen it in over 6 months.
'I see,' Jial mentally shrugged his shoulders. Although he enjoyed the benefits that the System had provided, he didn't feel dependent on it. If it had suddenly stopped appearing, he was sure that he could handle whatever matters appeared before him.
Nott and Hash went back inside the building to grab three chairs before setting them down away from the two sides facing one another. Master Fay took on seat facing the pair while the duo sat with their backs to the others. Fay wanted it like this so her fellow Jedi could not say anything about them receiving hints from Jial.
"Hello, ladies. My name is Fay and I am a Jedi Master. May I inquire about your names?" Master Fay greeted both politely, ignoring the tense faces behind them
"My name is Hash," Hash greeted while lowering her head slightly to show respect. She had seen that she was the only one who did not speak rudely to her Master and the others so she decided to be polite with the woman.
"Nott," the younger twin only said a single word while staring Master Fay in the eyes. Nott was upset about how the Jedi had treated her Master and teachers so she lumped Fay in with the others.
"A pleasure to meet you both. I just want to ask you both 3 questions to help dispel the suspicions that the Jedi Order has. Your Master was able to provide important information that has possibly saved millions of lives but they want to know more about his background in order to ensure that he has not learned from the Sith or influenced others with Sith teachings. That's why we are going to test you since younger people have a harder time hiding secrets."
Fay gave them the full explanation, only thinking it was fair that the pair knew why they were being tested. She did not forget to praise Jial in order to remind her fellow Jedi that he had done a huge service and they should have been more courteous.
"The first question will go to Hash. What is the difference between the Light and Dark Side of the Force?" Master Fay asked the older twin
"That's simple. The Light Side of the Force is the gentle but generally weaker side while the Dark Side of the Force is powerful but chaotic. The former also relies on positive emotions or calmness while the Dark Side is powered by more negative emotions or one's body," Hash gave her understanding of the Force based on the various lectures that Jial had given them as well as through the demonstrations she had seen.
"Interesting take," Master Fay noted before turning to Nott. "Then for Nott: What is the purpose of Force-Sensitives?"
Nott clicked her tongue at Master Fay but she could feel the glare on her back, causing her to stop acting up and answer the question.
"We are to find something or someone to dedicate ourselves to. Ourselves, someone else, an organization, a planet, etc. Whatever we feel most strongly about. And once we do, our next purpose is to build up ourselves to help what we have dedicated ourselves to as well destroy or scare away our enemies so that we can live in prosperity," Nott explained what she thought Force-sensitives' purpose was.
While she didn't agree with the Jedi or Sith or even the Nightsisters, she could see what each group was dedicated to. They were simply dedicated to the goal of protecting what they cared about and getting rid of anything that got in their way.
That was why she was working so hard, herself. She wanted to be able to protect her sister, Master, and everyone who had shown her kindness in Yautja.
Her answer caused some of the Jedi to scrunch up their faces and look at her in disdain while others smiled when they heard her answer. Although it sounded a little rough on the ears, they could hear the sincerity and meaning in her words.
"Excellent explanation!" Master Fay praised her sincerely. She herself had dedicated herself to The Force itself. She worked hard to improve her skills not to just become stronger but to help her ensure she could carry out her dedication.
"Last question to both of you. What is the code that your Master has imparted to you?"
The sisters looked at each other before looking back at Master Fay and speaking at the same time.
Actually finished the code and the duel in this chapter but felt like torturing anyone is still up rn so added them to the next one lol!!!
