Douglas Lee (POV)
“Dear, from what you have told me, why does it look like your girl is older than you?” she asked suspiciously, looking at me as if she could burn a hole in my body.
I smiled sheepishly when I heard her. How could she be spot-on like that?
“I am afraid that’s the truth, Mother. She is older than me, but trust me, she isn’t a bad person!” I didn’t hesitate to defend her.
I couldn’t say that she loved me, for she had never confessed her feelings that way. I knew that in the relationship we had, I might be the only one who might get hurt once it was over, as I was very deep into her. However, that wouldn’t stop me from dreaming.
She liked me enough to show me her weakness. What more should I ask from a married woman who was twice my age?
“You … dear, I don’t want to hurt your feelings or something, but aren’t you afraid that she will hurt your feelings?” she asked worriedly, obviously concerned about my welfare, which made me feel warmhearted.
