Percy took Tom's little booklet, feeling deeply moved. He didn't expect Professor Lohart to understand him so well, to know his struggles.
Everything his younger brother Ron went through, Percy experienced when he was younger! His two brothers, one named Charlie Weasley, the other Bill Weasley. These two brothers were legends, like the sun and moon in the sky. In their brilliance, Percy was quite inconspicuous, overshadowed by the shadow of being "Bill and Charlie's brother."
They were like two towering trees, shielding the family from wind and rain, but also leaving a large shadow for the younger brother, blocking all the love. Percy could only wear their old robes, use textbooks and stationery they discarded—his entire body had only a new wand, but that was only because his two brothers' wands had not been replaced due to being too worn.
Fortunately, through his hard work in exams, he eventually grew into a tree, able to step out of the shadow left by his two brothers and enjoy the sunshine. Who could understand all this? Even his girlfriend, Penelope, didn't know what was in his heart.
But this Professor Lohart seemed to see through him.
Thinking about Professor Lohart's words to him, Percy couldn't help but think of his mischievous brothers, Fred and George. Thinking of them, Percy had mixed feelings of love and hatred. But for a moment, Percy wondered if he had become a shadow for his brothers, making them like grass under the trees without sunlight.
But thinking of Fred and George's various pranks on him, Percy felt they were more suitable as dung under the big trees. Would Fred and George ever be melancholic? What a joke! If one day they were truly melancholic, Percy felt he would take out his wand, point it at the two and say, "You two impostors pretending to be my brothers, give me back my two dung-like brothers!"
Of course, if there was no danger to their lives, he could also let them stay with the kidnappers for a while—he could cover the cost of their meals.
On the other hand, his younger brother Ron and Ginny, Percy realized he might not have paid enough attention to them. Most of his energy was drawn away by studying and Fred and George. But he did hope Ron and Ginny could grow up healthy, and he wished happiness for all his family members—even Fred and George. After some thought, he decided to give his little sister a few of his notes. As for his younger brother Ron, he was getting along well with Harry Potter, so Percy shouldn't worry about him.
There wasn't much he could do, but he could study hard, enter the Ministry of Magic after graduation, climb up quickly, and improve the family's situation. At least he couldn't let the Malfoy family press down on them anymore. If he became a senior official in the Ministry of Magic, Percy was determined to give Lucius Malfoy a profound lesson.
"Sometimes, the words of family members are not pleasant to hear..." the first half of Professor Lohart's sentence echoed in Percy's mind, and Percy couldn't help but feel moved. Professor Lohart's words were so right.
Is this also in your calculations, Professor Lohart!
While Percy was lost in thought, Tom called the names of all the students on the list, keeping their faces in mind.
"Alright, everyone has received the book, right?" Tom raised the remaining booklet on the podium, "Next, take some time to flip through it. This is a revised edition of my 'Traveling with Vampires' and 'Traveling with Giants.' Novels inevitably have too much artistic processing and embellishment, and I also noticed that some places in my original works were ambiguously written, not suitable for high-level teaching, only suitable for enlightening young children. So, together with my assistant Miss Granger, we have made this revised edition, which provides more realistic and detailed descriptions of these dark creatures."
Percy finally lowered his head to glance at the booklet, initially thinking it was an exam paper. However, he didn't have to worry about buying a set, as it seemed his set was free.
But in Tom's recent statement, he seemed to mention a name: Hermione Granger. Percy had heard of this little girl, a second-year student in Ravenclaw, who loved reading and looked quite cute.
Did she contribute to this booklet?
Percy took a glance at the first page's content. It was full of practical information, and he felt the summary was quite concise, more detailed than what Tom originally wrote. Although the original was entertaining, when it came to battling dark creatures, it became exaggerated and somewhat unrealistic. Even though the general direction was correct, in some places, it was a bit far-fetched.
But this was also why people admired Professor Lohart: everyone admired his wild imagination.
"Appropriate brevity" and "moderate adaptation" were advantages in novels, but in textbooks, these were drawbacks.
Fortunately, Professor Lohart took this into consideration and made targeted adjustments.
"Put away the books. For this class, we don't need textbooks and paper materials," Tom interrupted the students' reading as he announced. Although Percy wanted to continue reading, he obediently put away the booklet.
"You're in your sixth year already, and soon you'll face the N.E.W.T. exams. Since you're here, it means you need to take the Dark Arts Defense course. I won't talk much about the importance of this exam; your head of house has probably mentioned it to you countless times. This time, let me talk about the exam format."
After briefly explaining the exam mode, Tom brought a large package to the podium. He didn't dwell on the details of the exam because he knew these higher-level wizards were already familiar with them.
"I found that your practical combat abilities are seriously lacking. I can guarantee that if you let me unleash my full strength and duel with you, most of you won't even last a move in my hands," Tom spoke with a tone that suggested he wasn't singling anyone out; he just wanted to say that everyone present was XX.
Tom wasn't lying. In a one-on-one duel with wizards in the audience, there was a high probability that he would defeat most of them. Transforming into a snake-like creature, the wizards would be lying down, waiting for the Mandrake grass to mature.
Wizards were too fragile!
Really powerful wizard duels should involve positioning, magical barriers, magical dueling, and one side would be essentially helpless after being hit. Those who could resist a few spells and continue the duel were not wizards; they were Hagrid.
Although Tom's words were hurtful, the young wizards didn't question them. Wizard duels were like this—unless you cast protective spells fast enough and had skilled evasive and rolling movements. Otherwise, it was essentially a one-hit kill.
"So, you need enough practical training! I won't personally take action; [Study Sister] will help you become strong enough." Tom took out the handle, "Move your desks to the back of the classroom, make some space."
Moving desks was something that didn't require Tom's personal intervention. Standing on the podium, Tom watched as the young wizards used the Levitation Charm to move their desks to the back of the classroom, creating a large space.
"Who wants to come up and try? Duel with [Study Sister]." Tom looked around at the students in the room, and most of them showed eager expressions. After all, this [Study Sister] seemed fascinating, interesting, and beautiful.
Oliver Wood walked directly to the front row.
"Not bad, very courageous!" Tom encouraged Wood with a sentence, then stepped back from the podium, leaving the stage to [Study Sister] and Wood.
Tom didn't direct [Study Sister] to come up and immediately draw her sword. Instead, she casually inserted the sword into the ground, extended her right hand, and beckoned to Wood.
Wood also drew his wand.
"Bow!" Tom, standing below the stage, directed the two to bow to each other; it was part of the duel etiquette.
"Three, two, one, begin!"
"Disarm!"
"...!"
Bang!
[Study Sister] walked directly to Wood, and a punch hit him in the stomach, making him curl up like a large shrimp, losing the ability to resist.
