As for why Tom was able to discover Professor Lockhart's flaws, that was naturally because the great Professor Dumbledore noticed the issue and asked Tom to investigate. Tom didn't disappoint Professor Dumbledore's expectations and successfully uncovered Lockhart's secrets.

"Why did you make such a big fuss today? It made everyone in the school uneasy. And you've become the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts?"

Tom sighed, "Although the lines were written by me, the content is not wrong. The heir to the Chamber has returned; he has infiltrated Hogwarts. I'm just stirring the waters. Only then will the fish move and be caught by the fisherman."

"As for being a professor, I am confident that I can do better than the other Defense Against the Dark Arts professors. And I passed Professor Dumbledore's interview!"

Hermione raised her eyebrows, "Dumbledore actually thought you could be a professor?" She found it somewhat unbelievable.

Tom shrugged, indicating that, as a student, he indeed suddenly became the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.

Hermione's doubts were answered, and she felt she could leave. However, before leaving, she coughed a couple of times, indicating that she wanted to know her exam results in advance.

Tom, of course, wouldn't make it difficult for her over such a small matter. He took out Hermione's exam paper—already automatically graded by a quill.

"The only perfect score so far." Tom handed Hermione's paper to her, glancing at it. "Many young wizards directly copied your answers, but I changed the questions!"

Hermione felt ecstatic. This was the only perfect score in the entire year, and she was overjoyed.

"I just read more books," Hermione put the paper back and walked to the door. "Good night, Professor Yodel."

"Good night, Miss Granger." Tom waved to Hermione, and as she recalled something, she smiled and raised her wand:

"Flock of birds!"

A group of birds sprayed from her wand, hitting Tom like raindrops. Tom covered his head and scurried until Hermione closed the door, then he transformed back into a snake-like creature and petrified all the little birds.

Not long after Tom saw Hermione off, his office door was knocked again.

...

The incident of "Tom" being cursed by the heir of the Chamber of Secrets had left the school in a state of anxiety. The red words written on the blackboard were erased immediately, but the sentence in everyone's hearts remained. Many people kept it in mind.

However, the heat of this matter did not last long. Firstly, there was no second victim, and secondly, another big news happened. The attention of young wizards was immediately diverted to a new hot topic: Professor Sprout distributed a set of papers to her students during class!

Professor Sprout believed that a quiz like this, for a subject like Herbology that required experience and memory, seemed to be helpful. So, last night, she specifically visited Professor Lockhart and borrowed a printer from him. With Lockhart's help, she printed a batch of test papers.

However, their purposes were different. Professor Sprout hoped that students could grasp the knowledge more firmly, so she designed all the questions as fill-in-the-blank and short-answer questions without intentionally changing the format.

The content of the papers mainly tested the students' understanding of magical plants, examining whether they knew the characteristics, uses, and ways to deal with these plants.

For young wizards, this was a "pleasant surprise." Previously, only Professor Lockhart of Defense Against the Dark Arts had conducted impromptu quizzes, and no one expected Professor Sprout of Herbology to follow suit. Before this, some young wizards were worried that other professors might imitate Lockhart's methods, and it turned out to be true. What was even more surprising was that the first one to make changes was Professor Sprout, who taught Herbology.

Fortunately, Professor Sprout's quiz was not graded, and the answers were discussed immediately after the quiz, causing no great pressure. But it sent a terrifying signal: other professors were imitating Lockhart!

For a while, the heir of the Chamber of Secrets was pushed to the back of everyone's minds. How many papers did the heir have? If petrified, there would be no need for exams!

However, in the following days, no professor continued to do this. Professor Flitwick and Professor McGonagall's courses were more specialized and inclined towards practical work, making exams unnecessary for them. Professor Snape's Potion class, however, required some testing to reinforce learning, and he had not yet printed the papers—he was still in the process of setting the questions!
