Capítulo 141: Chapter 140

When the outer shell protecting the observer dissolved, Lin finally saw the former cell again. Ke ♥ Si ♥ Lu & C Lu; Ke Lu

From Lin's perspective, it was indeed very different from normal cells. There was even a small crystal on the surface of its body. When the observer was immersed in water, Lin could slowly sense its vision …

He was still alive.

The 'Observer's' HP instantly returned to normal. Lin could sense that it wasn't in any pain, it was just lacking in nutrients.

It seemed that the Observer was in a state of complete cessation of life activity. Unexpectedly, this state could last for so long.

Lin's previous state of slumber would still slowly consume her energy, but the 'observer' state seemed to be a bit different. Most likely, he had entered a state called 'half-dead, half-dead'.

She might be able to make use of this ability in the future, but for now, Lin wasn't sure how she managed to enter this state.

The cells of the aircraft carrier were all dead. None of them were alive, but they were not eroded. They seemed to be in a state called 'mummy'. This was really strange.

The disintegrators walked back to the airdrop chamber. Although the airdrop chamber was used for dropping, it could also be used for ascending. After the disintegrators walked in, the airdrop chamber closed. Then, a small sac-shaped object at the top expanded. The sac-shaped object grew bigger and bigger until it exceeded the size of the airdrop chamber. The floating gas in the sac-shaped object caused the airdrop chamber to slowly rise.

These sacks would continue to expand and accelerate their ascension until they were close to Bechymos. It would open a hole at the bottom of the pouch and quickly eject the gas inside. Bechymos would recover the gases before they escaped.

Let's go back, then.

Although Lin still wanted to investigate the Easternmost Continent, it was still hard to say whether there were any living creatures there. Bechymos' remaining nutrients were enough for her to make a trip back. Now that she had found the Aircraft Carrier and the Observer, as well as explored this region of the sea, Lin decisively chose to return.

Bechymos turned. After taking another look at the barren land, Lin sped up and flew back.

On the way back, Lin once again saw the seabed that had broken out of the sea surface and the helmeted fish that were struggling to survive on it.

Although the disaster had destroyed almost everything, there were still survivors living here. It would be great if they could survive until the sea recovered.

Lin wouldn't set up an observation base here. If she sensed something, she would come back later. A feeling that was called 'surprise' would be even greater.

However, who knew when the ocean would recover? Under what conditions would the poison in the sea disappear?

Lin didn't even know where they came from, so she didn't know how long it would take. However, she decided to come and take a look often.

After that. Bechymos returned to the Northland Continent and placed the Observer in his base.

Although the 'Observer' was useless now, Lin would still keep it safe. Perhaps one day, she would encounter a crystal similar to its' Vision Crystal '.

None of the crystals Lin had encountered so far had any 'vision' abilities. It could only absorb light.

Lin continued her life as usual, but Lin did not know how long the cold days would last.

There seemed to be a word to describe this cold moment: 'winter'.

This season was really boring. There was no biological activity. There was no feeling of heat. The sky was always gray and the sun was rarely seen. The snow and ice grew thicker by the day. It felt like a long-lasting disaster.

Now, winter had lasted for more than ninety days and nights. Not only did it not dissipate, but a sudden snowstorm swept through the Twisted Jungle and even the entire Northland Continent.

The Northland Continent felt as though it was covered in snow. Endless snowstorms roared in the sky above the desert. White sandstorms constantly attacked the Glittering Forest, making it harder and harder for Lin to sweep the snow.

The cold winds didn't only affect the periphery of the Twisted Jungle. Under the sharp drop in temperature, Lin discovered that many creatures had frozen to death in their nests. They didn't even have time to finish the food they stored.

The foot of the mountain was originally filled with warm spring water, which attracted a lot of creatures. Most of them were salamanders and a type of green cockroach that was about half a meter long. They didn't seem to have the habit of sleeping, but under the onslaught of the snowstorm, most of the hot springs were buried by snow and ice. Many creatures froze to death, while the remaining ones gathered under the largest hot springs closest to the foot of the mountain. In order to compete for the hot springs, they began to fight.

Here, Lin saw some interesting behaviors. Normally, salamanders and cockroaches would attack each other and kill each other if they had the chance. Both of them were about the same size, but the cockroaches were stronger. On the other hand, the salamanders were poisonous, so their strength was about the same. They would often use the sleeping sawflies in the center of the hot springs as the dividing line, each occupying half of the hot springs. Anyone who dared to cross that line would be attacked. But when the snowstorm came, they would crowd together to keep warm and work together to shovel the snow to prevent the hot springs from being buried.

This was a very interesting phenomenon, but under the onslaught of the snowstorm, even if they gave up on fighting, they would still suffer heavy casualties. Lin had no choice but to stop her experiments completely, as there weren't many creatures left to experiment on.

The snowstorm had ravaged most of the jungle, so much so that the headworm's rocky mountains were buried under snow. The Hometree's canopy was also submerged by the snowstorm, piling up a thick layer of snow.

Even the lake at the top of the mountain that was originally unaffected had begun to freeze, causing the creatures inside to slowly fall into a state of slumber.

The adverse effects of the snowstorm didn't stop, the frigid winter didn't stop, and the creatures were slowly dying from the cold.

At this point, it had already gone on for 180 days and nights.

The Twisted Jungle was now completely white. Lin put away her green blanket umbrella. Even if there were crystals, they wouldn't be able to absorb any nutrients because the light source during the day was very dim, so they wouldn't be able to emit any light at night. Instead, they were replaced by many green blankets floating above the clouds. Lin was currently relying on them to obtain nutrients, but using these floating green blankets was a bit troublesome. Not only did they have to fly around to retrieve nutrients, they were also easily blown away by the wind.

However, the jungle was no longer able to obtain any nutrients, as the snowstorm had buried everything.

The last few hot springs at the foot of the mountain had all disappeared, and the creatures in those hot springs had either escaped underground or died. The sawflies were still sleeping where the hot springs used to be, and Lin couldn't tell if they were dead or alive. If she were to study them, Lin would find that the cells in their bodies still maintained a certain degree of vitality.

After Bechymos returned, it laid on the snowy plains that had turned into a desert, in a state of deep sleep. Lin felt that it might be time to activate its true use. If the cold continued, Lin might start a new plan.

It was to build a huge environment in the sky.

Winter had gone on for 220 days and nights. Although there were no more storms, the snow continued to fall …

Lin didn't know where it got so much snow, but she didn't want to wait any longer. She had Bechymos begin to inflate, releasing a large number of troops to sweep away the snow that covered their bodies. They then floated into the air and flew above the clouds.

At the same time, Lin began to create a large number of powerful bombs in her base in the Twisted Jungle, 'Art Creator'. These bombs were carried into the sky by a buoyant sphere, floating into the clouds, and then …

* Boom! *

A powerful explosion blasted a hole in the sky above the Glittering Jungle, from which warm sunlight shone. At this moment, Lin's base released a large number of green blankets. These blankets were usually about one meter in diameter, but the ones Lin created this time were over three meters in diameter. These larger blankets quickly rose into the air, and eventually reached Bechymos' position.

Bechymos released a type of troop, 'Stickers'. These bee-like troop could fly and secrete a mucus. They were responsible for sticking all the green blankets together.

This way, after completing the process, Lin had obtained a large floating green carpet. They were very light, but because they were connected together, Lin had formed a jet structure at the edge of the carpet to keep them in a fixed position so that they wouldn't be blown too far away by the wind.

When all the green blankets were connected together, they had a diameter of about a hundred meters. Lin could make even bigger ones, but this was just an experiment. Bechymos stopped beside this huge floating green carpet, in charge of managing the various situations here.

The green carpet could also regulate the air here, preventing snow clouds from gathering here. This way, Lin did not have to go through the trouble of sweeping the snow in the Glittering Jungle. Although there was still snow drifting over, the workload had decreased by a lot.

In the following days and nights, Lin found that the idea of a floating green carpet was indeed a good one. So, Lin had her base continue to create more blankets to increase the surface area of the floating green carpet.

Later, Lin released some blankets without blankets. These blankets were connected to the edges of the floating green carpet. Then, Lin planted moss on these blankets. She also dug out some small dormant creatures to see if they could live in the air.

Although the sky was cold, it was warmer than the ground due to the sunlight. However, the night was much colder than the ground. These creatures seemed to be unable to adapt and died out.

It seemed that Lin would have to create a warm environment.

But that would be rather difficult. So be it for now. Winter would end sooner or later.

Would it … end?

When winter had lasted for three hundred days and nights, Lin began to doubt her previous thoughts. The floating green carpet had grown larger and larger, but once she lost a part of it due to a sudden thundercloud. There were many dangers in the air, and sometimes they would be attacked by strong storms.

It wasn't that easy to obtain nutrients …

It was now three hundred and sixty days and nights. (To be continued.) If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read it here.)
