Capítulo 72: Chapter 72

Under the dark starlight, the Leviathan was getting closer and closer to the land. However, a rocky cliff that was dozens of meters tall separated Lin from the land, making it impossible for Lin to clearly see what those strange giant spikes on the land were.

Are they rocks? However, there were some small forks on the spikes. Rocks should not have such a strange structure.

Could it be... creatures?

Although Lin was interested, the Leviathan could not climb up the cliff.

Forget it. Anyway, I should be able to find the land by swimming around the cliff.

Lin did not care. She asked the Leviathan to put down the Seed of Base. If there was something wrong with the land, then they would have to face the disaster head-on.

Lin did not have much hope. However, when the Seed of Base came into contact with the cliff, there was no abnormality...

This land... has no abnormality?

I see. No wonder I felt that the north was safe...

Although she did not know what that feeling was, it seemed like she had helped a lot. Now, she had to quickly get the transporters to swim here.

She did not know if there was enough time. The Leviathan took hundreds of days and nights to reach here. Moreover, the transporters were not as fast as the Leviathan. However, they were now in the sea and should not be affected by the disaster on land.

Lin asked the Leviathan to stop at the bottom of the cliff and began to focus on commanding the large group of transporters.

At the same time, Lin also paid attention to the Observant Eyes at the 'Eastern Continent' and 'Western Continent' where she used to be. Now, the scene of impending calamity was displayed.

Within thirty days and nights of the disaster, many creatures began to leave. First, it was the sharks and other fishes that had a better sense of smell and touch. Then, it was the helmeted fishes. However, when it was close to nine days and nights, even the jellyfish and starfish had left. Only the immobile corals and seaweeds were left...

Of course, they did not just sit there and wait for death. Unusually, the corals released a large number of eggs during the non-breeding season, allowing them to drift away with the current.

Every creature had the ability to sense abnormal fluctuations in the depths of the ground. After all, their senses were constantly evolving through competition, hunting, and countless disasters. Now, these creatures had joined the journey of escape.

Lin was very interested to see where they were swimming to. Although Lin could predict the future, she had no clue about the escape route at all. However, other creatures could always swim to a safe place.

Although Lin already had a target in mind, she still allowed many of the eyeballs to follow the fleeing creatures.

Lin noticed that many other creatures were also swimming in the same direction as her, such as the Helmeted Fish. Most of them were mixed in with Lin's transport team, and there were probably several tens of thousands of them. Other than that, there were also quite a number of flesh-finned fish that were swimming in the same direction as Lin, but there were also many other creatures that were swimming in different directions.

Lin currently had over two thousand transporters. These transporters were shaped like sharks, and they relied on the water spouts and tentacles behind them to swim and change directions. Currently, this gigantic group of transporters was under the dark and cold layer of ice, continuously swimming towards the North.

Ninety percent of the transporter's body was filled with nutrients from the green carpet, so its swimming speed was not fast. In addition, there was a large group of helmeted fish, which attracted a lot of predators. They swam around the huge team, ready to take the opportunity to attack.

Most of them were sharks, and there were about a hundred of them. They followed the huge team on both sides, and sometimes they would speed up and bite a helmeted fish before retreating.

Lin's transporters had quite a number of guards, so it was easy for them to deal with the sharks. However, if they only attacked the helmeted fish, Lin didn't care, but there were also some other troublesome creatures following them.

Dunkleosteus. These gigantic fish were rarely seen in groups of more than two, but there were now a few dozen of them following behind Lin's transporters. Unlike the sharks, they didn't look for opportunities to ambush, but instead swam quietly at the back.

Perhaps they had become more docile before the disaster … Even so, Lin still kept an eye out for them. If this group of large fish were to cause a ruckus, it would be very troublesome.

Lin called the North the 'Fish Route', and almost all of the fish had followed, while most of the other creatures swam towards the Southwest and Northeast.

There were only eight days left, and she didn't know if she could make it in time … But regardless, this location shouldn't be affected too much.

After the night had passed, Lin's transporters continued to move forward as quickly as they could, but Lin felt something strange.

The layer of ice that had condensed on the surface of the sea began to scatter a large amount of ice crystals. These ice crystals didn't affect Lin or the other fish around her, but it made Lin feel very strange.

This must be some kind of omen before the disaster. Could it be that the change would affect this place?

Even though it was strange, Lin didn't stop moving.

Another day passed, and now there were only seven days left. A large number of cracks began to appear on the layer of ice. This time, there was a clear change. The sharks had quieted down, as if they no longer had the mood to feed, and had even increased their swimming speed.

There were only six days left, and Lin could sense that the water temperature was much higher than before. All of the fish had lowered their altitude and were no longer so close to the layer of ice.

Lin also lowered her altitude along with them. When it came to the choice of route, Lin still trusted the other creatures more.

There were only five days left, and the cracks on the layer of ice formed a large fissure. The Light of Day shone through the fissure to illuminate the dark sea. If the layer of ice melted, Lin could directly create a green carpet on the surface of the sea, but when she saw the school of fish swimming around her, Lin decided against that idea.

Following that, as the days and nights changed, the changes on the layer of ice were obvious as well. From the initial layer of solid ice that was over 10 meters thick, it had now become a layer of sparse floating ice.

The temperature of the water changed very quickly, the frigid seawater seemed to have turned into a hot spring. Even though Lin still didn't know what a hot spring was, she could easily understand its meaning from the term.

Now, there were only two days left …

The school of fish was now swimming close to the bottom of the sea. Lin discovered that it wasn't just the school of fish that were heading north, there were also a large number of arthropods, such as trilobites, bloondu scorpions, and so on.

Quite a number of fish that couldn't withstand the heat died on the way, but no creature ate their corpses on the seabed. Every creature was constantly on their way, completely uninterested in doing anything else. Even if the relationship between predator and prey in the past was now extremely close to each other as they traveled.

Everything had changed before the arrival of the calamity …

Lin's troops weren't completely unscathed. Due to the sudden change in temperature at the beginning, a few of the transporters were unable to adapt and died, but the rest were able to quickly adjust themselves.

Even though Lin hadn't resisted the heat for a long time, the memory of her cells that had the ability to resist the heat had been stored for a long time, and Lin could produce it whenever she needed it.

However, if the temperature of the sea continued to rise, it would be very dangerous.

Now, there was only one day left …

Lin observed the surrounding creatures. The number of helmeted fish around her had decreased by more than half, leaving only the larger ones with strong resistance. The sharks weren't doing too well either, but the dunkleosteus didn't seem to be afraid of the heat, so they probably only lost a few.

As for the arthropods, their resistance seemed to be much stronger than the fish, so Lin rarely saw any casualties among them.

Lin kept some of her eyeballs on the surface of the water to observe. There was almost no ice there anymore, so the heat was unbearable. However, eyeballs were simple in structure, so they could easily modify themselves and increase their resistance to the heat.

All this time, Lin's eyeballs had been observing the changes in the ice, but now, on the surface of the ice-free sea, they were able to see something else.

It was now night, but the stars were still shining brightly, and the temperature was much lower than during the day. Lin had her eyeballs float to the surface of the water to feel the temperature of the air. At that moment, Lin's eyeballs suddenly felt the temperature around them rising rapidly. A few stars in the sky were growing bigger and bigger, and they were flying straight towards the sea!

What are those?

Stars? That doesn't seem to be it …

These things were in the shape of spheres, about 10 meters in diameter. They were enveloped in a bright red glow that pulsed constantly.

A new word appeared in Lin's mind — — 'flame'.

Flame? What is that?

While Lin was still puzzling over it, the fireballs suddenly struck the sea in the distance.
