Capítulo 37: Chapter 37

Lin stayed quietly on the beach, observing the strange scene.

First, the leaf-shaped worms ejected a large number of cells from their bodies, then these cells fused together in a strange way. Then, a group of disc-shaped creatures with long tentacles were attracted by these cells.

Lin was puzzled. Why did the leaf-shaped worms eject so many cells into the water? Wouldn't this consume a lot of energy? Why did it attract so many strange creatures?

Lin didn't want to provoke these strange disc-shaped creatures. Instead, she planned to observe the situation first. According to preliminary calculations, these disc-shaped creatures should be easy to deal with. Their disc-shaped bodies must be soft. Lin saw that their bodies could rapidly expand and contract as they swam. Although they had many tentacles, they were very thin and weak.

However, there were many of these creatures. They swam among the cells ejected by the leaf-shaped worms, their tentacles constantly expanding and contracting as if they were sucking in their prey.

'Jellyfish.'

The new word that appeared in Lin's mind indicated that this was the name of these disc-shaped creatures. Lin wasn't satisfied, but she didn't have to think of a new name.

Lin was considering whether to attack the jellyfish. If they were easy to deal with, there would be another source of food.

At that moment, Lin suddenly noticed that the light around her was slowly dimming.

Is this … night? Is it coming? Lin had almost forgotten about the existence of night because ever since she woke up from the oxygen crisis, she had never experienced night. But it was true that night came much slower than before. Why was that?

Falling into darkness wasn't a good thing. The Flash Burst Orb was too small to light up the entire aircraft carrier. Because night had never come, Lin didn't create too many Flash Burst Orbs.

Lin first ordered the Cultivators that were feeding the green cells to return to the aircraft carrier. Then, she ordered the Guardians and the aircraft carrier to stay close to each other on the sand, preparing to face the darkness.

As the light around them dimmed, the floating jellyfish slowly revealed a blue glow. As the surroundings grew darker, they even lit up the water.

Beautiful … Are they somehow related to the light fungi?

The word 'beautiful' had not appeared in Lin's mind for a long time. She looked at the shining jellyfish floating in the water. Suddenly, she saw a jellyfish floating over and approaching the position of the aircraft carrier and the Guardian.

Should I attack?

The shining jellyfish was swimming on the sand in front of Lin. If Lin wanted to attack it, it would be very easy. Lin's only worry was that if she attacked this one, would the jellyfish above attack her as a group?

While Lin was hesitating, the jellyfish suddenly changed its direction and floated over. It didn't look like it was going to attack. It just slowly swam past Lin's aircraft carrier, but its tentacles gently grazed a small piece of the aircraft carrier's skin.

So painful!

Lin felt an intense pain spreading from the skin that was touched. It even began to enter the blood vessels that connected the skin!

Is this a virus? No, it seemed different. It should be … venom? In short, it had to be interrupted urgently!

Lin sent out a powerful thought, causing all the cells around the point of pain to self-destruct and her heart to stop beating. At the same time, the blood vessel that had been invaded was instantly severed, preventing the venom from going any further.

Lin didn't feel any pain anymore, her emergency response was very effective. After that, Lin temporarily blocked the broken blood vessels, her heart also began to beat again. Following that, the Devourer was dispatched to check on the injured part of her skin.

Are these … stinging cells?

The Devourer found a large number of cells stuck to the necrotic skin. There was a hole on each of their bodies. There was a silk thread in the hole, and the tip of the silk thread was a needle. These needles were inserted into Lin's skin. It seemed like they were injecting the venom into her skin.

The venom flowed between the cells according to the nutrient sharing structure of the cells. However, as long as Lin stopped the surrounding cells, they could no longer transmit the venom.

Fortunately, only a small piece of skin cells was damaged. This kind of small injury was easy to repair. However, even if it continued to spread, the venom would become thinner and thinner. In the end, it would become unable to kill the cells. After all, it was not a virus that could grow continuously.

However, Lin was determined to kill the jellyfish this time.

The jellyfish was still nearby and hadn't swam far. Lin let the Protector have a try first. She also wanted to see if this resurrected worm was useful. In case it was attacked by a group of enemies, its hard shell could probably protect it.

Thinking of this, Lin let the Protector slowly crawl over. When it crawled under the jellyfish, Lin found a problem.

The Protector couldn't use its pincers to catch the jellyfish floating in the water. The reason was simple: its limbs couldn't bend upwards.

Well, forget it, I'll just do it directly.

Lin let the Aircraft Carrier swim towards the target and directly hit the jellyfish's disk-shaped body with a hammer.

The jellyfish spat out a large amount of bubbles after being hit by the hammer. At the same time, its body was also sent flying and landed on the beach not far away.

Lin immediately let the Protector rush forward and use its pincers to grab the jellyfish's tentacles before it could swim again. Then, the Protector pressed down on the jellyfish and tore its body apart.

Quite simple. And as Lin thought, the surrounding jellyfish didn't move at all. They didn't seem to know that one of their companions had been killed here, which meant that there should be no communication between them.

Lin released a large number of Devourers. She planned to observe the internal structure of the jellyfish before eating it.

The Devourers approached the jellyfish. Under careful observation, Lin found that the jellyfish's tentacles were densely packed with holes. In each hole, there was a spike cell. The density of the spikes made Lin a little scared. If she had been touched by a large number of tentacles just now, she might have had to take off the entire Aircraft Carrier's skin.

Would Lin be able to use her stinging cells in the same way? However, Lin's spike cells weren't as penetrating as the jellyfish's, so Lin hadn't used them for a long time.

It was the first time Lin encountered a single cell that could penetrate the Aircraft Carrier's skin. Although they grew on multicellular organisms, it seemed that the Aircraft Carrier's skin would have to be hardened again. For example, the Protector's carapace was completely fine.

The internal structure of the jellyfish was quite simple. There were no blood vessels, only some sacs. These sacs were also full of tentacles with spike cells. Lin found that these tentacles also secreted a dissolving liquid. She guessed that these sacs were used to decompose food. Other than that, there was nothing complicated about the jellyfish's internal structure. It was a far cry from the super complicated structure of the starfish.

However, the simple jellyfish, leaf-shaped worms, and other creatures were much bigger than the starfish. Why?

Could it be that the simple jellyfish could only grow bigger? But the round-shield worm was also very big and should be very complicated.

Except for the spike cells, the rest of the jellyfish had been eaten by Lin. At this time, the surroundings were completely dark. In this water area, except for the light of the jellyfish, everything else was pitch black.

Lin paid close attention to the surroundings, but fortunately, no jellyfish floated over. She had repaired the wounds on the Aircraft Carrier's skin and let some cells swallow a small amount of residual venom, trying to evolve them into individuals with resistance.

The jellyfish seemed to have eaten most of the cells ejected by the leaf-shaped worms. Lin found that their numbers were slowly decreasing, and many jellyfish swam away.

Every time a jellyfish disappeared, the surrounding environment became dimmer. When they all left, Lin could no longer see any light or objects.

Pure darkness. It seemed that she hadn't felt it for a long time … It seemed that she really needed to create a large light combination.

"Coo …"

Suddenly, there was an abnormal vibration in the water.

What was that?

Lin sensed from her tentacles that there was an obvious change in the waves in the water. It felt like … something huge was shaking.

In the shaking water, there were countless small vibrations. Lin knew that it should be the feeling of sand being turned up. Was some kind of creature coming out of the sand?

No, it was the surrounding sand grains that were vibrating!

Lin hesitated for a moment, then let the Aircraft Carrier slowly swim upward. However, the guards that couldn't swim could only stay on the beach.

The guards didn't have eyes, but they had probing tentacles, so they could also feel the vibrations in the water.

The vibrations on the beach began to become more and more obvious, as if something was about to happen.
