Capítulo 98: An Audience with the King
Blanc and Helena were in awe upon entering.
Who would've thought that a large hall was behind such a small adamantite door?
The hall was so large that it could be compared to half of his entire city hall. In the middle of the far end of the hall, there was a luxurious throne made from diamond.
Blanc's expression turned serious upon seeing the person sitting on the luxurious throne.
King Terravalle IX!
The two of them continued walking behind Andrei and upon arriving in front of the throne, Blanc and Helena knelt.
"Greetings, your majesty. My name is Blanc Rougenfort, the city lord of Resonance City. Beside me is my closest aide and general, Helena Laurelei."
Blanc gave an appropriate and respectful greeting to King Terravalle IX who seemed to be observing them with interest.
"Likewise, City Lord Blanc. You two may rise."
Blanc and Helena stood up after King Terravalle IX gave them permission to.
"Now that the pleasantries are over, let's talk about your city. I find it hard to believe how you managed to make a city in the middle of nowhere. Not only that, you seem to have a strong military for a "city in the wilderness."
The king said.
"I'm flattered by your praise, Your Majesty. However, I only believed in the power of the people, I didn't build the city alone. The citizens helped me through every step of the way and I am very grateful to them. The result is as you can see, a flourishing city."
Blanc replied
The king's eyebrows rose in surprise. He thought that young men were supposed to be confident and a little hot-blooded.
Seeing how humble and calm this young city lord was, the king understood immediately why his royal envoy, Anderson Terravalle, gave such a high evaluation of this young man.
Just the personality and attitude of this young man are already superior to some of the other rulers.
The shocking thing is, he's still so young! To be so wise at such a young age, King Terravalle IX was liking Blanc more and more.
However, out of nowhere, King Terravalle IX's attitude did a sudden 180-degree turn.
"I see that you're keeping secrets! You must have an ambition to conquer my kingdom! Royal Guards! Detain them!"
"??"
Blanc and Helena couldn't believe what they just heard, they quickly drew their swords and fought with the royal guards.
*CLANG* *BANG* *CLANG* *BANG*
The royal guards went flying under Helena's and Blanc's attacks.
"Hoh?"
King Terravalle IX rubbed his chin as he curiously observed the strength of the two.
Seeing how they easily defeated the royal guards, they must be at least tier 1 Swordmaster with a tier 1 master combatant physique.
"Not bad for a lone city in the wilderness."
King Terravalle IX nodded in satisfaction. He was pleasantly surprised that a city in the middle of nowhere could actually produce Swordmasters.
He knew that there was at least one Swordmaster because they managed to defeat Gar Grayleaf but who would've thought there were two?
On the contrary, Blanc was angry. He didn't do anything wrong but they got attacked. He couldn't help but ask King Terravalle IX for an explanation.
"Terravalle IX, what is the meaning of this? Did you call me here to assassinate me?"
Blanc said as he stared daggers at King Terravalle IX.
King Terravalle didn't say anything in response and instead, he even doubled down by calling in his Grand Marshal, Geraint Lockhart.
"Geraint! Subdue them!"
A middle-aged man with short white hair and blue eyes immediately dashed toward Blanc and Helena.
Helena sensed that this man was out of Blanc's league so she dashed forward to engage the man named Geraint Lockhart.
*CLANG*
Geraint's eyes widened in surprise, he expected that this general Helena Laurelei would be blown back by him after a single clash.
Who would've thought that he wasn't able to gain even a bit of an advantage from that clash?
Not only Geraint, but even King Terravalle's eyes widened in shock. He knows that Geraint is a tier 4 Swordmaster with a tier 3 master combatant physique.
Yet, this young female general went toe-to-toe with him?! Geraint, one of the most talented swordsmen in the 700-year history of their kingdom, was stopped by a young female general in her early 20s?!
Nobody in the Terravalle Kingdom would believe such a story if they didn't see it with their own eyes.
*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*
King Terravalle and Grand Marshal Geraint planned to stop after sending Helena flying on the first clash but now, they wanted to see how far this young female general could go.
Geraint clashed with Helena more than a hundred times and they were starting to get tired.
Seeing the fight getting a bit out of hand, Terravalle ordered them to stop.
"S-Stop! I'm just testing you guys! I apologize for the rude actions of my men."
*CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CLANG*
"H-Hey! Stop! It was just a test, why aren't you stopping?!" Geraint couldn't help but exclaim.
This young female general was like a mad dog in combat.
Even now, she's still continuously attacking, not giving Geraint any room to breathe at all.
"Huh? You started this! It's your fault for getting me fired up! Now! How about we just make it a spar to the death huh?!"
Helena retorted. She was indeed a bit angry, being invited for an audience and then getting attacked pissed her off.
"S-Spar to the death?! How the fuck does that work! It isn't a spar anymore if it's to the death!"
Geraint Lockhart replied
"H-Hey, city lord Blanc, can you please stop your general?"
Blanc didn't pay any attention to King Terravalle IX's request and he just let the match continue.
After a few more minutes, a short moment of carelessness gave Helena a chance. She quickly activated her dash skill and flying kicked Geraint in his abdomen.
*BANG*
Geraint was sent flying to the corner. The royal guards and King Terravalle IX's eyes were wide open due to utter shock and disbelief.
Grand Marshal Geraint was sent flying!
"Helena, that's enough!"
