Capítulo 22: Resonance Chamber of Commerce
—Adelaine POV—
One day ago, big sis Helena brought the new warriors to get valuable experience inside the Forest of Echoes.
As usual, I am here in the village kitchen again preparing meals.
"Sister Adelaine! The village chief told me to call you.
Seems like there's something he needs to discuss with you."
A young female villager said to Adelaine.
"Hmm? Big Bro Blanc needs me? Okay, I'll go to him. Can you please take care of things here?"
"Sure! leave it to me."
After the short conversation with little Emma, I walked towards big bro Blanc's hut.
In the recent months, my daily contact with big sis and big bro was almost nonexistent.
I understand though since big bro is busy doing the duties of a village chief while big sis is leading our military.
Still, I can't help but feel sad about it.
I want to help them in some other way rather than staying in the kitchen to cook.
I snapped out of my thoughts as I reached big bro Blanc's hut.
*knock* *knock*
"Hey big bro! little Emma said there's something you needed to discuss with me?"
"Oh Adelaine, yes, come in."
"What is it big bro?"
"Well, to be frank, I think your talents are being wasted away in the kitchen. In addition, you're not good at cooking."
"Wha?... How rude! Big bro, how can you say that to me? I know I'm not good at cooking but still!"
Although I was protesting against big bro Blanc, I was quite happy being teased like this again.
— End of POV —
"Hahahaha just kidding, it's been a while since I had time to tease you so I just can't help it, sorry. Anyway, the main reason is, we need to start reintroducing money circulation to the village."
Blanc said then he continued.
"As you know, recently, as long as you do your tasks, you get food and shelter, and nothing else. Since we have enough preparations now, we will be expanding our village again and it will soon grow into a small town."
"It just won't do if we keep doing the same thing. Eventually, we need to generate our own economy if we are planning to be a country in the future. "
"We need to have merchants investing and eventually build trade routes. We can't do everything on our own and surely, after being stable here for long enough, we can't keep the villagers working for free."
"However, we cannot start if we don't have enough money to circulate. That's why I want you to be the chairman of our first chamber of commerce."
"Your objective is to travel around the neighboring kingdoms and fiefdoms to sell our potions and possibly try to secure deals from restaurants so we can supply them with the needed meat, vegetables, and fish."
"I get the potions, B..but how will we transport fresh food? It takes at least a month and a half of travel before we can reach the nearest neighboring fiefdoms. The products will surely turn bad before even reaching the restaurants."
Upon hearing Adelaine's concerns, Blanc smiled. It seems that he chose the right person for the job.
"About this, your sister Helena told me the properties of a certain blue zone inside the Forest of Echoes. If my guess is right, the materials that we can harvest inside that zone will be the answer to our problems regarding food transport."
"For now, will you accept this position? as chairwoman of the resonance chamber of commerce?"
"Yes! Yes! Gladly! I would like that instead of cooking everyday!"
Blanc smiled even wider after hearing Adelaine's reply.
"It's settled then, you will be the chairwoman of our chamber of commerce so you have to work hard starting today! Your first task will be to finish reading all of these books about how to manage a business. Although you are talented, you still need to study these before I let you handle things on your own."
Blanc piled the books in front of Adelaine and then continued.
"Bring these back to your hut, I will drop by after every three days and give you a quiz to make sure that you are indeed learning."
"Okay, big bro! Leave it to me!"
After the conversation, Blanc helped Adelaine bring the books to her hut.
Although Adelaine is a bit lazy, reading story books is something that she enjoys, so reading this much is still okay for her. Unlike her big sister, who absolutely abhors reading.
Adelaine immediately started to read the first book.
It seems like she's quite motivated to escape her current cooking job.
Seeing this, Blanc smiled and left her alone so she could focus on her studies.
After reading a few pages, Adelaine got absolutely hooked about business management.
It seems that this was her true calling after all.
