Capítulo 271: Chapter 271: Seething Darkseid

It seemed that H'el's task of holding back New Genesis and the Olympian pantheon was significant and indispensable. However, the reality was that this containment was not as challenging as it appeared.

When they attacked Oa, it would be with overwhelming force and speed. The Olympian gods, indulging in their divine realm, were disconnected from the affairs of the universe. The Guardians would have to come to Earth to contact them, as quantum entanglement communication wouldn't reach them in their realm. H'el only needed to guard the Solar System and prevent the Guardians from passing through.

For H'el, dealing with one or two Guardians wasn't an issue.

In fact, it was more likely that when Apokolips launched its assault, the Guardians would be too preoccupied to send anyone to Earth for reinforcements.

Furthermore, with Athena and Hades supporting from within the Olympian pantheon, the gods were unlikely to receive the Guardians' messages. By the time they were roused from their revelry, Oa would already be under siege.

What annoyed Darkseid most was Highfather of New Genesis. They were brothers and eternal enemies. Without H'el to keep an eye on him, Darkseid was certain that during the attack on Oa, Highfather would seize the opportunity to strike against him.

Highfather wouldn't miss any chance to eliminate Apokolips and Darkseid.

However, containing Highfather wasn't difficult for H'el but was still necessary.

This dual nature of H'el's task—seemingly easy yet essential—irritated Darkseid.

H'el was a formidable force, capable of taking on six strong Guardians and leading Apokolips' vanguard.

But he also needed to contain the Olympians and New Genesis.

Darkseid suspected that in the end, H'el might avoid direct combat with Highfather and the Olympian gods altogether, which made the idea of H'el benefiting without much effort even more infuriating.

Yet, Darkseid had no choice. He couldn't allow the Olympians and New Genesis to interfere.

So he turned his frustration toward Hades, "The Underworld must go all out and charge alongside Apokolips."

Darkseid's tone and voice were always on the brink of rage.

"My Underworld is all in, fully prepared. We will deploy all our forces."

Hades was well aware of his limitations.

He couldn't play the same game as H'el, who could restrict both the Olympian pantheon and New Genesis. Hades couldn't even single-handedly contain the Olympians.

All he had was his own power and the might of the Underworld, to stand on the front lines and hold off a Guardian for Darkseid.

Hades had wagered his future, the entirety of the Underworld, and all the power he had accumulated over the eons.

Such a total commitment left Darkseid with little more to demand. Hades had put everything on the line.

Of course, it would be even better if H'el could deploy his forces to help Apokolips break through Oa's defenses.

Darkseid then made another demand of H'el, commanding him to contribute at least eighty percent of the New Kryptonian army and populace to form Parademon vanguard forces to assist in the attack on Oa.

"Wishful thinking. My New Krypton forces are fully engaged in sealing off the Solar System, restricting both the Olympian pantheon and New Genesis. They have no capacity to assist your vanguard," H'el replied with a cold smile, flatly rejecting Darkseid's demand.

The vanguard of Apokolips? They were Parademons, bio-engineered weapons of war, expendable cannon fodder that Apokolips had no qualms about sacrificing.

The idea of having his forces transformed and used in the attack on Oa was out of the question. This was a collaboration, not a desperate, all-out effort.

It was Darkseid and Hades who had reasons to fight desperately, not H'el.

Doomsday's flesh, while potentially providing a significant boost to H'el, was not essential. Eventually, with the intelligence and research capabilities of New Krypton, they could develop life forms that matched or surpassed Doomsday.

It was simply a matter of time, and it wasn't worth risking everything to obtain Doomsday's flesh.

"Hmph!"

Darkseid's cracked gray skin twitched, his eyes glowed red from their depths, and his large hand crushed the armrest of his obsidian throne, teetering on the edge of an explosion.

The gravity on the surface of the neutron star seemed to twist and undulate violently with Darkseid's fury.

Scar glanced at Darkseid, sitting calmly on her chair formed by her psychic powers. When she looked slightly towards H'el, her eyes flickered with a mix of fear, longing, admiration, and worship.

No one had ever been so brazen in front of Darkseid. Even within the Guardians, mentioning Darkseid was met with dread and caution.

H'el was the first person Scar had seen who could confront Darkseid without flinching, someone who could make Darkseid so furious yet unable to do anything about it.

Defeated by such a person, with a psychic contract planted deep in her mind, Scar suddenly understood why she had lost.

A user of psychic powers without the courage to face Darkseid was destined to fall into self-destruction eventually.

A sense of release flickered deep in Scar's eyes.

It wasn't a release from being defeated.

It was a release from forgiving herself.

She began to recall the scenes of the ancient cosmic war, where she was captured by Krypton and subjected to various genetic experiments and modifications, memories she had long buried deep within her mind.

These memories replayed in her mind—cruel, real, and painful—bringing a sense of acceptance and forgiveness for her own obsessions.

Even when she recalled her face being burned by Doomsday and her desperate escape, her heart remained untroubled.

Finally, when the memory of facing H'el and being defeated by him resurfaced, it stirred a mixture of emotions—defeat, fear, admiration, and more.

Scar's complex emotions reflected in her eyes, mirroring H'el's figure.

No one present realized that Scar's mind had undergone a profound transformation, her psychic powers elevated to a new level.

Meanwhile, the tension between Darkseid and H'el was reaching a boiling point.

"In that case, let me, Darkseid, see what power you have to stop Highfather and Zeus!" Darkseid stood up from his obsidian throne, his anger rolling like thunder over the entire neutron star.
