"I heard my phone ring just as I entered the elevator, and my hands were full with shopping bags. Anyway, I was about to reach home, so I didn't pick it up." Jaylene said with a smile.

Joseph didn't say anything after hearing her explanation, only casually remarking as he washed the vegetables, "I thought you lived nearby, so you should have returned earlier than me. Did it take you a long time to buy groceries, which caused the delay?"
