As soon as she sent the message, Adam called. Lumma hurried to answer, "Mr. Hills..."
"Where are you now?" There was a hint of resignation in Adam's tone.
Lumma glanced at the navigation and said, "Peace Road, I'll be home in another mile or two."
"Hmm, hang up when you get home." With that, his voice disappeared from the earpiece.
If not for the call timer number jumping on the screen, she would've thought he'd already hung up.
The two-mile ride took only a few minutes. The taxi driver stopped across from the residential area's north gate. "Miss, roadwork ahead. The car can't turn around. Walk over yourself."
"Okay." Lumma paid the driver. The enthusiastic driver helped unload her suitcase before driving off in a hurry.
A riverside park stretched along the right side of the north gate. Lush roadside greenery and scarce vehicles and pedestrians at night always gave off an eerie vibe.
