"BUUUUUUUU!!!!!" Growing from a chunk of flesh about the size of a fist, Buu appeared in all his glory onstage as Vegeta waited patiently for him to finish regenerating.
"Figured that wouldn't be enough to get rid of the likes of you." Vegeta said, a smirk playing across his lips.
For what it's worth, Vegeta's blast had completely destroyed every bit of Buu's body while it'd been in the air. Incinerated it till it was just atoms of Buu, but Buu, despite playing the fool incredibly often, was far from stupid.
Knowing full well that Vegeta's opening move would be full-powered and probably enough to kill even him, Buu had detached a portion of his back from the rest of his body as the uppercut had thrown him into the air. Since that naturally meant that not all of him had been destroyed in Vegeta's Big Bang Attack, that meant that Buu could easily regenerate his entire body from that tiny piece he'd left on the stage.
"BUU!" Putting his fists against his sides, Buu made a superhero pose as Vegeta congratulated him for surviving. Naturally, the crowd ate it up, cheering "Buu! Buu! Buu!"
"Alright, then. Time for the real battle to start!" With a shout, Vegeta charged Buu once again.
The ensuing fight was likely one of the most dynamic fights in all of tournament history.
In order to keep the shockwaves from destroying the area around them, the two flew high into the atmosphere to conduct their fight. The power balance was largely what I'd expected. Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue form made him stronger than Buu by a mile or more, but by sticking to counterattacking, and exploding his body apart every once in a while, Buu was able to keep himself from hitting the ground and losing by default. Then, Buu managed to get his arms around Vegeta as he was sent flying into the air, taking Vegeta down toward the ground with him.
Clearly, Buu's plan was to hit the ground with Vegeta, but position Vegeta so that he landed first and was thus disqualified first. Vegeta tried to break out, but Buu was hanging on for dear life, and he immediately deduced that he'd need to upgrade to the next phase of his transformation, his Ultra Ego, in order to break Buu's hold. Unfortunately, Vegeta was a Saiyan. Using Ultra Ego would have created a vast power gap between him and Buu, one that no amount of regeneration would be able to cross. It'd made the fight too easy, which would bruise Vegeta's pride. So, instead, he did something stupid.
He used Instant Transmission to teleport him and Buu higher up into the atmosphere, in order to keep himself from hitting the ground.
Using Instant Transmission like that was stupid risky. For the first thing, there was nobody to teleport to that high up. He'd need to use his own distance relative to Buu and the ground in order to deduce the exact spot to stop at. Luckily, Vegeta was pretty smart. Instead of ending up on the sun, he and Buu only ended up a few miles above the Earth's atmosphere, in space. Only overshooting by a few dozen miles was nothing compared to how badly he could've overshot it, and with his Super Saiyan Blue aura protecting him, Vegeta could survive in space just fine.
To keep things entertaining for the crowds, I created a screen using my energy, projecting Vegeta and Buu's space fight above the arena, so that the people would still get what they were paying for. A few of the people in the waiting room with us shot me a weird look when they realized what I was doing, but nobody said anything. Once he realized that they weren't on Earth any longer, Buu let go of Vegeta and drifted away until there was a bit of distance between the two of them.
"Buu's having fun!" He shouted. Normally, in space, you couldn't hear a thing, but these two were putting out so much energy that the sound still had a medium to travel on.
"You're not bad..." Vegeta admitted, "But you're still going to lose!"
"BUUUU!!!" As if that one small exchange had somehow put the two of them on the exact same wavelength, Vegeta and Buu both began tossing out energy balls at each other, blocking, dodging, and canceling the energy balls out as they clashed together. But...
"Well, that settles that." I muttered to myself.
On the surface, their exchange looked fairly even. They were both being pelted with energy balls, losing power by the second. Their energy levels were beginning to look even, in fact, which was why Vegeta had already won.
Vegeta's power was way beyond Buu's. Even though he'd used a lot more of it, he should have still had a ton of power in reserve, but he was tired. He was getting hit by Buu's energy blasts, over and over again, almost as much as Buu was getting hit by his. That wasn't natural but calculated.
If you looked carefully, all of the energy blasts that were shot at, or by Vegeta were stopping in midair. Buu hadn't noticed yet, though.
One of the techniques that I'd learned from watching Raika during the hundred years that I'd originally trained in the Core was called Forced Energy Fission. Essentially, it was what I was doing, taking over someone else's energy and using it against them. With this technique, you could theoretically take a person and rip them apart atom by atom or take two people merged together and force them apart, but the easiest way to use it was definitely to engulf small amounts of another's energy and force it to your will. That was the basis for my energy draining technique, and Vegeta'd clearly made it his own, though he couldn't use it as liberally as I could. Now, he was using it to take control of all of the energy that Buu had shot his way in a clear display of the disparity in their skill levels.
