The silence of the night was broken only by the gentle whistle of the wind outside. As Li Yang drifted into a deep slumber, vivid images began to form in his mind's eye. He saw the serene face of his beloved wife, Lan Xi, her raven-black hair flowing like a river under the moonlight. But the serenity was soon broken when she reached out to him, her voice filled with desperation, "Save me, Li Yang!"
The urgency in her voice jolted him awake, his heart racing, beads of cold sweat dotting his forehead. Lysar, sensing his distress, inquired with a hint of concern, "Did you dream of Lan Xi?"
Li Yang, catching his breath, replied, "How did you know?"
Lysar, with a smirk, responded, "Remember the jade pendant? It links our souls. Your emotions, memories, dreams – they're like an open book to me."
Still trying to shake off the lingering effects of the dream, Li Yang said, "So, I have no secrets from you then?"
Lysar chuckled, "What secrets could you possibly have that I wouldn't already know?"
Li Yang shot Lysar a mock glare but chose not to comment. Instead, he said, "Let's focus on the gains from Demon City." Pulling himself together, he freshened up, and headed towards the outskirts of Infinity City. There, he would have the space to test the abilities of his newly acquired cards.
Hoping to maximize his strength, Li Yang attempted to summon both the Golden Deer and the Dark Earth Lion-Eagle simultaneously. However, the strain it put on him was evident. His energy drained rapidly, making it clear that he lacked the stamina to control both creatures at once.
Deciding to keep it simple, Li Yang summoned the Golden Deer. As the majestic creature appeared, glinting in the morning sun, he threw out the metallic orb card. To his surprise, the Golden Deer, sensing danger, bolted, stopping at a distance and glaring menacingly at Li Yang as if accusing him of betrayal.
Li Yang's face turned a shade of red as realization dawned upon him. "I forgot," he said sheepishly, "The metallic orb is meant for demon-type creatures only." Kneeling down, he looked towards the Golden Deer, "I'm so sorry. That was thoughtless of me."
Lysar, trying hard not to laugh, commented, "Seems like even with a heart and soul connection, you still manage to surprise me."
The two shared a chuckle, with the Golden Deer slowly inching its way back to Li Yang, their bond still intact despite the brief moment of misunderstanding.
