Capítulo 6: Ch 6: Vault
The goblin then ordered the two of them to follow behind him. Lorion and Lucius were taken to a little cart which the goblin controlled.
This cart took Lucius and Lorion deep beneath the surface of the earth, through a "maze of twisting passages" to the vaults. The cart was very quickly, which made both Lucius and Lorion a little queasy and prevented its occupants from getting a good look at their surroundings, and seemed to run on a vast, complex, interconnected series of tracks that allowed them to move to and between any vaults.
Suddenly, a terrible roar was heard from deep down the dens. Lorion was stunned. However, the goblin smiled embarrassingly.
"We keep a few dragons here to guard the vault, but this new one seems bit unruly."
Lorion remembered that there was only one dragon in Gringotts in the movie. Clearly, this reminded Lorion that life was not a movie and he need to always vigilant to stay alive.
The goblin kept explaining that the dragons were only in the core area of Gringotts where several important vaults were present. These dragons only guard against intruders in these areas and never fly out. He also reminded that the Vault of House of Gaunt was in the core area of Gringotts.
Lorion nodded his head stiffly like a bird pecking grains. Luckily, their discussion didn't go on for a long time. Soon, the cart stopped. The goblin jumped down and walked before an iron door.
"Vault One Thousand and twenty Seven"
Lucius and Lorion too got down from the cart and stood behind the goblin.
"Key please"
The goblin asked for the key and Lorion, who was holding the lamp, handed over the key. The goblin took the key and put it in the keyhole. Then he scratched a few lines on the iron door with his nails and then asked Lorion to turn open the vault. Lorion did as he was said and opened the vault.
The goblin didn't go inside and just stood outside the vault. Lucius also tactfully stood with the goblin because he was worried of the lineage curse inside.
Just as Lorion went in the vault, he was surprised by the amount of wealth the vault hold. He understood why a camel starved to death is still bigger than a living horse. He still remembered the small mountain of Galleon Harry saw when he opened his vault in the movie. Now, he saw that the amount of Galleons in his vault was at least six to seven times that small mountain of Harry. After taking a few deep breadths, Lorion decided to take up about a hundred Galleons for his daily expenses.
However, when he went over to pick up the Galleons, he saw a brown diary at the corner of the vault. Curious, Lorion picked up the diary to know what was in it. He picked up the diary and a hundred Galleons and left the vault. The goblin locked the door again and took him and Lucius to the cart.
