Capítulo 27: Night

Unknown's POV

I watched as they drove their silver rods into the Lycan's chest, his agonized screams reverberating through the air. Three of them surrounded the Lycan, who was tightly bound to a long piece of wood.

I couldn't help but lick my lips, savoring the aroma that intoxicated my senses. A peculiar hunger gnawed at me, one I knew I couldn't resist.

For now, I decided, I would save him for last.

One of the men, whom I had come to recognize as the Alpha of this feeble pack, stepped forward, delivering a powerful slap to the snow-haired man's face and the force of the blow made me wince in mock sympathy.

The Lycan's eyes blazed with a mixture of bloodshot fury and hatred as he locked eyes with the Alpha who had just slapped him, defiantly spitting at his feet.

This Lycan had a spark, a fiery determination that intrigued me.

"It is only because we need you to lead us to your oh so precious pack, that you are still alive, are you aware?" The Alpha asked, clenching his knuckles in frustration at how nonchalant the Lycan was. He had refused to reveal the location of his pack, even though that wasn't a problem for me.

I had left a bitter taste in their mouths, and they likely thought me dead or gone. Little did they know, I had been lurking in the shadows, my hunger unabated, my thirst for their blood unquenched.

"Brother, what are you doing?" My younger sister, Selene, spat, her voice laced with irritation as she crawled up behind me, delivering a swift blow to my head. I let out a low growl of frustration as the impact disrupted my concentration. Maintaining the cloak of invisibility I had cast around myself was no easy feat, especially when I was surrounded by werewolves and a Lycan with acute senses.

"Could you be a tad less violent, you fool?" I retorted, struggling to regain control of my cloaking magic. The invisibility spell was a delicate balance of concentration and willpower, and Selene's interruption had momentarily shattered that balance.

"You're not supposed to be spying on them," she chided me, her voice a stern reminder of the rules I had chosen to ignore. I rolled my eyes in response, dismissing her concerns with an annoyed wave of my hand.

"Oh, please. Run along now," I scolded her, pushing her head away to block her line of sight. Selene was always a meddlesome one, concerned with my well-being even when it conflicted with my own pursuits.

For weeks, I had been surreptitiously observing the various werewolf packs that roamed this territory, silently studying their habits and customs, all in pursuit of one specific goal – discovering the whereabouts of the Lycan pack once more. It was a relentless pursuit driven by my desire to savor the exquisite taste of their blood once more.

The two Lycans I had feasted upon back then had been exceptionally delectable, both of them women with a richness in their blood that delighted my senses. I recalled the euphoria that had coursed through me as their life essence coursed down my throat, an experience that remained etched in my memory. It was an irresistible addiction, a longing I couldn't suppress, and it had driven me to engage in this secret act of espionage.

So you can imagine my delight when, during one of my covert missions, I stumbled upon an unexpected development. The werewolves had captured one of the Lycans, a male from their pack, and it appeared they intended to use him as a pawn to unveil the secrets of their territory.

My interest piqued, and my heart quickened with anticipation. This was the breakthrough I had been waiting for, an opportunity to not only locate the Lycan pack but also to potentially savor the taste of their blood once more.

With bated breath, I watched from my concealed vantage point as the werewolves continued their relentless assault on the captured Lycan. They had driven more silver rods into his chest, and his agonized screams echoed through the moonlit night. Blood oozed from his wounds, a gory tapestry upon the snow-white forest floor.

It was a gruesome spectacle, yet I couldn't tear my eyes away. The metallic scent of blood hung heavily in the air, tantalizing and irresistible. It was the aroma of life itself, a potent elixir that called out to me, setting my senses on fire.

For now, I knew better than to reveal myself. The werewolves reveled in their illusion of control, their sadistic glee evident as they tormented the bound Lycan. I observed their actions with a sense of detached amusement, allowing them to believe they held the upper hand.

In truth, they were oblivious to the lurking presence in the shadows, a predator biding its time. I was that predator, an entity of darkness and despair, a creature of the night.

As the Alpha of the werewolf pack unleashed a torrent of obscenities and raised his hand to strike the defiant Lycan once more, I could feel my own anticipation growing. The forest itself seemed to hold its breath, the very trees shivering with dread, and the moon watched, a silent witness to the unfolding horror.

It was time for me to unleash myself once more, to step out of the shadows and seize this opportunity. The moment was ripe for me to not only rescue the captured Lycan but also to satisfy the insatiable hunger that dwelled within me. The darkness of the night would become my ally, and the werewolves, my unwitting prey and I licked my teeth in anticipation of what was to come.

My revenge was fast approaching.

With calculated precision, I began to weave the threads of my own dark magic, cloaking myself in shadows as I prepared to descend upon them like a ravenous shadow. The hunt had begun, and it was a hunt I intended to relish, for it was in the heart of the night that I truly came alive.
