Capítulo 34: Ch.34

A split second after the stare-down, Leo dug into the Lava pit disappearing as Magmar looked to be preparing another fighting-type move. Leo pretended to dig up behind Magmar making him turn, but then Leo quickly dug up on the other side of him. Magmar with his years of experience and extremely high stats, turned just as Leo dug up on the other side.

Leo then landed his Head Smash onto Magmar who also swung out and smashed another brick break onto Leo's side. Both Pokémon cried out in pain and were sent a few feet flying back from the power behind each move. Leo looked worse for wear, but so too did Magmar, as Leo still had higher defense than him it appears.

Magmar then began charging up another Focus Blast it appears, then Leo charged him head first having charged up his Head Smash first. However, Magmar is still a King Ranked Pokémon and therefore finished charging up his move just as Leo was about to strike him.

Leo smashed his head into the chest of Magmar again as Magmar cried in pain stumbling back in pain. Magmar landed on his one knee looking in immense pain, but still held onto his Focus Blast which he sent at Leo right after receiving the blast. Leo tried to jump out of the way, but the attack was too close. Leo was struck in his hind leg and cried out in pain as he was sent flying back a few dozen feet.

Leo struggled to stand up as his one leg looked broken and he refused to put any weight on it. While Magmar looked to be just slightly better off, we can see he is also standing on his last leg too, so to speak.

'Leo see if you can mix your heat into the ground and send a wave of scorching sand at Magmar,' I say hoping he can pull it off since it is a ground-type move and could be the last thing we need to take Magmar out.

Leo then began to draw on both fire and ground-type energy mixing the two, as Magmar quickly began charging another focus blast. Magmar sent the focus blast toward Leo who tried to move away again but was too slow. However, just as the focus blast was about to strike him, he sent this huge wave of scorching hot sand toward Magmar.

The move looked almost like a sandstorm, which made Magmar confused at it. Leo was struck by the Focus Blast sending him flying back again while crying in pain back into the mote of lava. Just then the wave of scorching hot sand struck the confused Magmar allowing the move to hit.

Magmar cried in pain while being covered in the scorching hot sandstorm. Leo stumbled out of the mote of lava while looking ready to collapse. I was about to withdraw him, but he looked over at me with a determined look to fight to the very end. We both looked over to see Magmar covered in burn marks and cuts from the sand.

Now both Pokémon looked to be on the verge of collapse. My Dad and I then shared a look with one another, and we both nodded our heads. We then both withdrew our Pokémon not wanting either to become permanently injured due to their stubbornness.

"Both Gym Leader Blaine and Trainer Lucas withdrew their Pokémon! Therefore it is a draw!" the referee says seeing us both withdraw our Pokémon.

The crowd was cheering seeing the fight with many people talking about it already. The live stream doubled in numbers after people started talking about Primeape evolving. Then my Dad walked over to me with a smile and I met him halfway. We hugged as he patted my shoulder happily with a very proud look on his face.

"If I didn't know better, I'd assume Leo was King Ranked. He really is a monster. You really came very far, not every one of your generation can say the same. Sure I've helped, but your talent for being a trainer is extremely high as well," Dad says to me after breaking the hug.

"Here you go, son. Now you just need one more and you can take part in the tournament. I look forward to seeing you compete," Dad says handing me his gym badge, the Volcano Badge.

"I do have a few other things I want to give you… but that will have to wait for later," Dad says to me as I take the badge and nod to him.

"Thanks, Dad, I couldn't have gotten this far without your help," I say smiling at him.

"I'm just glad I can help you. That way when you stand at the top of the world I can brag to everyone you are my son," Dad says to me smiling and then smirking at the end and I just chuckle hearing him.

"Lucas, congrats!" Lance says walking over with Brock right behind him.

"Yeah, you have gotten crazy strong! I can only hope I do well enough in the tournament to raise my trainer rank past Advanced Trainer," Brock says to me with a slightly jealous face as he is not as talented as some other people.

Everyone who competes in the tournament even if they don't win, depending on how far they come can raise their trainer ranks. This helps determine how much the league pays them and what other benefits they can get from the league. You can not pass the Advanced Trainer rank without competing in the tournament to show how strong you are in the league. Plus it is a good time for certain organizations to scout out potential trainers to join them.

"I'm sure you will do well," I say to Brock giving him a smile, though on the inside we all know he probably won't be getting that far.

With Primeape evolving and Leo, I should be able to get pretty far. However, I doubt I will win, especially since Red Ketchum will be competing in this tournament too. This is the one where he probably become the new champion of our region. I can only really hope to be in the top one hundred in the region as not only is my generation competing but older and more experienced trainers too. Even some gym leaders join so they can improve their trainer ranks.

"I should heal up my Pokémon. Then maybe we can all meet up at my house?" I say to my friends and look to my Dad who nods his head.

"Come meet us there, you both are more than welcome to spend the night," Dad says as they both nod happily.

"Thanks for the invite, we will see you both there," Brock says with Lance nodding his head as the two leave us.

"Come on, let's go heal up our Pokémon and I can give you the few items I got for you and your Pokémon. Though I already gave the one for Primeape to him," Dad says to me as I nod my head and follow him to the small Pokémon Center inside the gym.

The one inside the gym is for gym trainers and the gym leader, but being my Dad's son I can use it too. We then hand off our Pokémon to the nurses there before my Dad brings me to his office in the back of the gym. Walking inside I can see nothing much has changed, it looks just as messy as usual. With papers everywhere, his desk littered with documents and lab equipment looking like they were just used.

"First, here are the two other items I got for Leo and Piloswine," Dad says showing me two King Ranked items for the two of them.

"I was able to buy a King ranked shell from a Magcargo, so it should be perfect for Leo as they both share the same duel type. This is a King Ranked Tusk from a Mamoswine for Piloswine and is perfect for him too. The item I got for Primeape was a King Ranked Ridge from a Machamp," Dad says showing me the two items which I take with a very happy and thankful expression.

"Thank you," I say to him knowing he is already aware of how much I appreciate what he has done for me.

"Once Leo absorbs this item, plus with his fight against Magmar, should be the last thing needed to push him into the King Rank as well," Dad says as I put away the items and then he takes a seat at his desk.

"Now, about Primeape… You seemed to be aware that he would evolve, how?" Dad says as I take a seat across from him at his desk.

"As you know I have certain abilities… Well as Primeape and I were fighting some ghost types, I could tell it was affecting him somehow and I had a hunch that maybe there was another evolution to his line that no one was aware of yet," I lie to my Dad hoping that it was convincing enough.

"I see… So you believe he is the first ever known type of Pokémon with that duel type?... This discovery will bring a drastic change to what we know about the Primeape line. Your name will be published across the world for this discovery! I need to make a few phone calls!" Dad says to me immediately grabbing his desk phone and dialing some numbers. Seeing him completely indulged in this I take my leave.

Not only has no one known Primeape could evolve, but apparently no one has discovered the Marshadow Pokémon. This means that this really is a huge discovery for Pokémon Researchers. I can only hope my Dad will deal with that headache as I have really no interest in that topic.

I then walked over to the Pokémon Center inside the gym to see if they were done with my Pokémon. Walking inside the nurses greeted me before handing me back my Pokémon. I thanked them before going out to the main gym area and taking a seat in the stands, now that it was empty. I saw that my Dad was right Leo is on the cusp of reaching King ranked, while Piloswine had some catching up to do, but overall is still strong. But Annihilape had the most drastic changes.

'Holy shit!!' I think seeing the changes to Primeape after he evolved into Annihilape.

The changes were extremely drastic something that I was not expecting at all. Annihilape turned into the ace of my team or will soon once I find him more items. The stats skyrocketed reaching almost Leo's, though just a bit lower. Plus he mastered many of his moves, but the biggest change was the fact that his potential jumped three levels. His potential went from Green all the way to the max, Black, he was one of the extremely few ever recorded Pokémon to have that potential.

'Shit! Once I register his potential change, that will bring even more eyes my way. Not only will learning Primeape's can evolve but now this… I need to speak with my Dad," I say as my Pokémon come out of their Poké Balls following me.

"Dad–" I say as I walk into his office nervous to say the changes about what potential Annihilape now has.

"Lucas! Professor Oak is coming tomorrow, he wants to hear more about the Primeape evolution!" Dad says cutting me off as my eyes widen and panic even more.

"Dad… Annihilape has increased his potential…," I say while gesturing to the now almost emotionless Annihilape who is just staring at my Dad with a blank expression.

"That's great! What did it reach?! Blue?... Purple?!" Dad says as I hesitate to say with him becoming very excited at him being Purple like Leo.

"Uhm… No, he is Black potential," I say to him as my Dad's eyes look like they are going to pop out of his sockets.

"Holy Shit!!" Dad says staring at Annihilape that still is standing still with a blank expression.
