Capítulo 78: You're Too Focused on the Wrong Problems

"So, what's your plan to fix all this?" 

… The elderly deerkin blinked and squinted at the goblin. "I have no plans left. In that regard, I've truly failed as the tribal chief."

Somberness flooded out of Chief Kert's eyes, spilling over the table and filling the entire room. 

Kerl stood by the bookshelf with burdened shoulders and low-hanging antlers. He couldn't bring himself to speak while Rizz was also in the room. The last thing Kerl wanted to do at that moment was embarrass his father or weaken his stance as the chief. Because Kerl knew more than anyone just how hard his aged father worked for the sake of the entire settlement. 

"... Okay. You fucked a few things up. What's new?" 

With daggers in his ears, Chief Kert groaned, "I understand that I am on in years. In truth, I'm the oldest of all persons in the settlement. I've got Little Missy Barka beat by a decade… and I've had the rare perspective of watching our gradual, impending decline."
