Capítulo 21: Making Friends
Halloween 1988
We already have Halloween, so I only have less than two months to fulfill McGonnagal's task of making three friends. My sister doesn't count, but I am now friends with Cedric.
If we are being honest, I also am friends with Hagrud at this point, but aren't sure if my head of house counts that one.
So I still have to make one or two friends and as you may have remembered, I don't have much experience with social life outside the few nurses that took care of me in the hospital.
And although I now am acquaintances with the two girls in my year, because me made homework in the common room together and studied for tests in the library.
They are both nice people to be around and I don't see a problem to be friends, but girls aren't easy to be around if you aren't bloodrelated, so I want to make sure and at least make one other friend.
I already have a person in mind that helps me with two other goals, I need to accomplish in the future. This person being Charlie Weasley.
What those goals are? I don't say to much, but one is related to magical beasts and the other related to a family member of mine. To be exact for the last one I need an object from the twins and a good relationship with the Weasley family and he is a person, I share interests with. Well one of his two. Although I now see a beauty in flying, I don't want some people try to injure me with bludgers or ram me from my broom, so no thanks on that part.
I know you can't force friendship, but I can make some opportunities for it to grow.
One idea came after I gained a certain piece of information.
He is also friends with Hagrid, but can't visit him quite as much, because of his quidditch practice.
But I happen to meet him on one of his visits and we three had a good conversation about magical breeders and their handling.
At the end Charlie and I said goodbye to Hagrid, but as I know and depended on the loose tongue of Hagrid, he reminds me of our morning walk to Fluffy.
McGonnagal determined I couldn't tell others about Anluan to others, but she didn't considered Hagrid. Charlie took the bait and asked about it and was invited thereafter.
So the next morning as we walk to Hagrids hut and meet up with him, we are going to Fluffy.
As soon as we are behind the first treeline, I release Anluan and the shocked yet excited look on Charlies face was to funny. I mean next thing you know you walk beside a horsehigh dog.
He already knows Fluffy, so he does know such creatures existed, but it is still shocking to meet him for the first time. On the other hand, he was so excited about another animal, he didn't met before and looked like his a birthday presents I missed, were counted together now.
"He is so beautiful.", Charlie mumbles.
"He is, but don't look at him like he is your new girlfriend. He's shy.", I joke around.
"Hahaha. That face sure looks like it.", Hagrid added.
Charlie blushes, but then smirks: "Shocked me real good, didn't you? Won't see me so surprised for a long time."
"Are you sure. Hagrid, won't we?"
Hagrid smiles already and is trying hard to not laugh out loud, what sounds like grunts.
Charlie is visibly confused, so I don't make the pause any longer and summon my kneazles through the pouch.
"So cute!", I think I heard a girl scream, but connect Charlies mouth to the words. Didn't know he could make so high sounds, but his reaction was worth it and this time Mani and Asteria are the ones confused, as a stranger pets them. But not long after they enjoy the caress.
"Wait you have more than one pet? And a dog the size of a horse. Does the teachers know?",Charlie rattles a wave of questions over me, so after calming him down, I answer.
"The kneazles aren't known, so I hope you keep it a secret and because I think I know you to some degree, I trust you. Anluan here is only allowed under certain restrictions by Professor McGonnagal."
"I keep your secret safe, as long as I'm allowed to pet them again sometimes."
"Sure, no problem there. But one condition was to not tell other students, because they could get scared, so please don't tell your other friends, okay.", I explain
"Yeah. Can I tell my brother? He also won't say anything, but even though he isn't an animal lover as me, he was also one of the few, who gave McGonnagal some treats in his first class. Hilarious story, I must say."
"Would have loved to see his face, when she returned from her animagus form. Okay, you can talkto him in privat and invite him."
"Now that's enough you two. Need to hurry up. Fluffy should be hungry."
""Okay, Hagrid.""
That was me making another friend. A week later, Bill joined us and even though he acted calmer, I could see the joy in his eyes. Three friends and three close acquaintances.
In the following months, I had more interactions with the girls even in some classes, but Bill was mostly busy, because it is his last year at Hogwarts and he has N.E.W.T.s at the end of the year.
I always made time for my familiars and explored the castle with Cedric.
I asked Linda and Eli, we are now on nickname basis, if they wanted to join and sometimes they did.
We even found one of the hidden passages to Hogsmaede, but it was the one which collapsed a few years back. Maybe the reason the portrait didn't needed a password and only some begging to get his peace back. But it was an adventure nonetheless for us.
Time goes ahead and it isn't long till our winterbreak.
