After a few more minutes in the shade of the tree, Edward slowly got up and started a series of modern stretches and then walked back to the village.
As he walked through the forest, he thought about the future.
The night before, he had reviewed his knowledge of this world, however he couldn't remember the details clearly, only the major events were clear in his mind.
Edward generally had a good memory, however when he tries to remember the events of the anime, it's like a fog takes hold of his mind...
'Never mind for now, the most urgent thing is to learn magic! Roxy arrived in the village yesterday, she should stay for a few years but I really don't know how long….'
While the idea of learning magic of himself was enticing, magic books were rare, in fact books were a scarce resource.
In his house there are only a handful of books, but only children's story and heroic legends.
As Edward exited the forest, he walked quietly observing a group of children playing knights on the side of the road.
As he approached, the children noticed him and stopped playing, Edward heard whispers about him and some of the children even had tears in their eyes.
'What did my brothers even say about me to scare the kids so much…'
Choosing to ignore the children, Edward headed for an old building near the forest, the old house was made of stone and surrounded by ivy, it seemed almost to be part of nature, the only indication proving that the building was not was not give up was the wooden panel hanging above the door on which was carved an arch.
Pushing open the heavy door, Edward entered the old house that served as a base for the village hunters.
As he entered, he saw two men seated on a table playing cards and a third man watching their games with a keen eye while sharpening the point of an arrow.
this last turned to Edward and a smile grew on his lips.
"You came today too kid, you are stubborn I grant you that."
Edward climbed onto a stool and sat across from the man
"Obviously Sylvano, who do you even think I am."
Sylvano shook his head and stood up "Come on follow me today I'll teach you how to make rabbit traps."
Edward's eyes widened and he hurriedly jumped off the seat he had just climbed into and followed Sylvano out of the old house.
Finally Edward coughed and asked the question that bothered him.
"What changed Sylvano I thought you didn't want to teach me anything before I was 5 years old? Finally I'm not complaining, forget what I said!
Sylvano laughed before answering "Things have changed Ed, yesterday Paul hired a magician to educate his son, if I want you to be worthy to marry my daughter you must not lose face against his son!"
Edward rubbed his temples "Again with that story old man, I told you before don't sell your daughter to the first stranger, she's only fucking three years old..."
Sylvano was silent for a moment, "Don't worry Ed, that's exactly why you're going to marry her."
Edward sighed "Don't rely on me on this old man, and then first of all I never met your daughter you know. Anyway, forget it, I won't change my mind!"
'This guy is really a bully, selling his daughter to a 3 year old, I guess that's what a medieval world is all about… Or rather the world of Mushoku tensei, people here are fundamentally twisted when it comes to love relationships …Actually, maybe it's just me who doesn't fully understand this world yet…'
Sylvano then turned back to Edward staring at him, making him swallow.
'Damn, did I really offend him?'
Finally Sylvano nodded "It's true, now that I think about it you've never met her, when you see her you'll quickly change your mind."
Edward shook his head 'crazy'
Eventually the pair arrived in the forest, Sylvano teaching Edward how to place several traps and the different rooms to use for the rabbits in the area.
Over the next hour, Edward and Sylvano placed a dozen rabbit traps before sitting down against a tree to rest for a while.
Under the shade of the tree, Edward cleared his throat before asking the question that really interests him.
"Said Sylvano, you mentioned Paul earlier, he's the knight who protects the village from monsters isn't he?"
Sylvano nodded "Yeah that's him, he sometimes goes hunting with us too."
"Say do you think he could teach me how to use a sword?"
Sylvano stopped and looked up at Edward. "Hmm.. you're not the first to ask that, in fact half of the boys in the village asked him but he always refused… However if it's you I think it's not impossible, just that you do as with me, insist until he goes bald."
Edward smiled weakly, for almost two months he has been pestering Sylvano daily to learn how to hunt.
Sylvano continued to talk to him, nodding "Actually seeing that bald ladies man would be good news for the village men, this guy attracts all women like a magnet..."
Finally Sylvano turned to Edward "His wife works in the village clinic, if you insist on her too he might break down."
Edward nodded deeply, it's a frankly questionable method but if it works why not? After all, who would criticize a 3-year-old for wanting to become a knight?
Edward already had a small idea to learn some magic from Roxy, and now the same is true for Paul. However, even if it worked, without being able to pay his instructor, there is no way Paul or Roxy would agree to teach him in depth.
'Well, tomorrow I will put my plan into action'
Suddenly, Sylvano raised his hand to Edward, motioning him to be quiet, moments later a smile crept to his lips.
"We captured a rabbit."
Edward tilted his head "Huh, but I didn't hear anything"
Sylvano flashes a smile pointing his ears "You think my elf ears are just for decoration?"
'It's true that Sylvano is half an Elf...'
Finally the duo captured 3 rabbits.
