After sitting quietly for what felt like hours, the realization dawned on me: I should learn about the others. As I walked away from the cave entrance, I noticed Suka sleeping in the lap of the wolf girl. I decided to speak loudly enough for everyone to hear.
"Alright, since my companion seems to be asleep, how about you all introduce yourselves to me? I'll start. My name is Frost, and my semblance enables me to take on the form of any creature I've slain at least five times. This includes the ability to transform into a Beowolf, a type of grimm. Due to my semblance, even in this form, other grimm can't distinguish me from their own, often ignoring my presence."
This seemed to impress all of them as the wolf girl decided to speak next.
"My name is Luna Vulgarian, and my semblance is very simple. When activated, it creates shields around other people for protection. Though it does take quite a bit of Aura to maintain these shields, I do have rather large Aura reserves, so it doesn't always require a lot. Oh, and my weapon is a magnum."
I nodded my head at that as I noticed one of the Wolf Faunus. He had long hair tied up into a bun. His hair, along with his ears and tail, was blonde. I also noticed he had blue eyes. He began to speak up.
"Name's Alex. My semblance allows me to see the weak points in someone's defense, and my weapon is a spear."
The next one was a man with short hair, mostly red with strands of black weaving through. He exuded a casual air, appearing much more relaxed than everyone else. He began to speak with a lazy drawl.
"Name's Crimson. My semblance allows me to sense the heat signatures of others around me. My weapon is a baton."
The next one to speak was the cat Faunus, who had short black hair and a full black tail.
"Name's Felix. My semblance allows me to create a pocket dimension that can hold a rather large amount of supplies, and that's where I've hidden all of our weapons before we met you. My weapon is a cutlass."
I nodded my head as the last two wolf Faunus began to speak. Now that I looked at them, they were both identical with long brown hair, strands of black, and their tails appeared to be the most well-maintained among the wolves.
"Jojo, and that's my brother, Jugo. My semblance allows me to create a barrier of Aura around an area, while my brother here can create chains made of his aura, and his chains can disrupt the flow of aura. Also, he's a mute. My weapon is a bolt-action rifle, while my brother uses a greatsword. None of us have mechashift weapons. After all, who invested in slaves?"
I nodded my head quietly as I began to speak to everyone.
"Alright, first course of action: we'll need to go over our supplies and take stock of what we have. Second, we should figure out which of the kingdoms will be the best location for us to establish our main camp. Finally, we must determine the basic rules of our tribe and establish our non-negotiable boundaries. I already have mine, but I'm referring to our collective principles."
Everyone nodded in agreement. Luna decided to be the first to speak up.
"What's your bottom line? Mine is not allowing another Faunus to suffer. As for the others, I know their bottom lines. The twins won't tolerate rape in their vicinity, and all the other guys won't stand for a child being hurt."
I nodded my head in agreement, a small smirk playing on my lips as I began to speak.
"A child being hurt is my bottom line. I couldn't care less about anything else. So, I suppose the list you've put together, little Luna, will serve as the rules for our tribe. Next, we need to choose a name."
Everyone seemed to nod in agreement. Jojo chimed in.
"How about the Wild Pride?"
I thought about it quietly, looking at everyone else. They all seemed to nod, and I shrugged in acceptance.
"Very well, Jojo, we are the Wild Pride tribe then. Now, with that out of the way, Felix, how many supplies did you have in your semblance space?"
Felix closed his eyes for a few seconds before speaking.
"Counting all of us in my calculations, we have about two weeks' worth of food, approximately a week's worth of ammo for those with long-range weapons, and about six types of dust crystals. Two of them are gravity, three are fire, and one is lightning. So, we don't have much."
I nodded my head quietly but then got an idea.
"Do you think you can store a vehicle in your semblance space? We could make our way to your caravan and take everything that's not bolted down. Besides, they've probably got a lot more weapons and supplies there."
Felix seemed to perk up after hearing my question. He thought about it while pacing around.
"In theory, I could store a vehicle, but I never got the chance to test out that capability. And yes, there should be some laser weapons that the Schnee have bought for their soldiers, which means we don't always have to worry about ammo. But the likelihood of encountering more Atlesians heading there could be a problem. They'll be heavily armed."
I stood up, sheathing the Yamato back into its scabbard. I couldn't help but smirk at everyone.
"Oh, please. I've been dealing with the Atlesians for a long time. They won't be much of a threat to me. So, if you do have to deal with them, run off with everything you can take. But if you're worried about numbers, just Felix and I can go out. That way, not everyone's at risk, and we can move a lot faster."
After hearing this, everyone looked at each other, quietly nodding. Felix walked over and stood by me, positioned about a single step behind. As we exited the caves, I paused for a moment and shouted back at Luna.
"Tell my brat if he wakes up I'm out for supplies. Don't want him worrying."
I continued walking as I heard Luna shout.
"I will!!!!"
As Felix and I moved as fast as we could through the forest, heading towards their old convoy, I could feel the other grimm circling the place. About a minute away from where I could sense the grimm, I raised my hand in a fist to signal Felix to stop, then began to speak.
"I can sense the grimm up ahead, so be prepared for a fight."
Felix quietly nodded his head as we made our way forward. I decided to rename my sword Grim Heart, as Yamato didn't sound all that impressive. I drew it from its scabbard, taking in the sight of the convoy. I noticed only about four Beowolfs and an alpha. Raising Grim Heart, I began to create a light lance, aiming directly at the alpha. As soon as my attack was ready, I fired it, instantly incapacitating the alpha. I charged forward and swiftly dispatched the grimm, but I did notice four large vehicles wrecked.
Turning my head, I saw Felix immediately start storing all the weapons in his semblance. I was quite pleased to see that he was able to store the vehicles as well. Before long, he had effectively stored everything that wasn't nailed down. I signaled for him to head back as I used [Apex Predator] on all of the [Beowolfs] to absorb them. Then, I decided to use [Predator] on all of the soldier corpses.
I received a notification from [Great sage].
[Congratulations!]
-you have received the passive skill [Tech Savvy]
-You have received the passive skill [Pistol Mastery]
-You have received the passive skill [Marksman]
-You have received the skill [Fire Enduement]
-You have received the skill [Prediction]
-You have received the passive skill [Eagle Eye]
[Congratulations, your skill [Prediction] and [Eagle Eye] have naturally fused to become [Mark of the Hunt (passive)]
After receiving that notification, I felt quite pleased. I assumed I obtained these skills from consuming those soldiers, likely tied to their semblances. Though I did wonder about the specifics of what [Mark of the Hunt] did. Just then, [Great sage] decided to speak up again.
[The passive skill [Mark of the Hunt] increases all ranged damage dealt to anyone whom the holder perceives as prey.]
I quietly nodded my head. I then turned around and started heading back to the cave with Felix. He began to speak.
"Alright, we have four trucks. Two of them were fitted to hold whole squads of soldiers, one was outfitted for holding slaves, and finally, in the last one, the master was kept. We have 10 laser rifles, five laser magnums, and what seems to be some form of heavy-duty laser rifle. We also got a whole lot more dust in the form of rounds. Twelve clips of fire dust, six clips of ice dust, twelve clips of lightning dust, and finally, two clips of gravity dust rounds. And last, but probably the best of all, I even got a map of the surrounding area from the master's truck."
I smirked as I began to speak, pleased with our haul.
"Does anyone have experience with crafting weapons before you became slaves? If not, I could work on something with the laser weapons. And I'm assuming there are sets of tools from the trucks in case things go wrong."
Felix quietly nodded his head as we made it back to our cave. As everyone saw we had returned, they all began to smile. I asked Felix to empty out his space. I saw a set of tools being removed as well. I made my way to the laser weapons and tools, sheathing Grim Heart. Dropping down to my knees, I began to inspect the laser weapons. It was easy to notice that they seemed to recharge after a while, meaning we never have to worry about ammunition. I took three of each weapon and began to disassemble them with the tools. As I looked at all the raw components, I had a grin on my face. If there was one thing in my previous life I loved more than anime, it was making changes to items I probably shouldn't be tampering with, which in my case was mostly weapons. It's one of the few memories that seem to remain intact since my rebirth here in this world.
I started to construct a pair of pistols with the components. One pistol was semi-automatic with a four-round burst. The next pistol was a heavy-duty single-shot revolver, practically custom since I took apart the heavy-duty sniper rifle and used its core for a good chunk of its parts to make the revolver. Then, I started to reconstruct the rifles to have at least a three-round burst. When I turned my head to look at everyone, I noticed Suka and the others were staring at me in shock, their mouths hanging open.
"What?"
Luna was the first one to speak up, staring at what I had just done.
"How did you...?"
I chuckled softly as I heard Suka begin to speak.
"Damn, didn't know the old man was a gun nut."
I snorted in amusement at Suka's comment. I looked at the heavy-duty revolver and the four-round burst pistol in my hands. Raising the heavy-duty revolver, I began to speak.
"This little killer will be named Strife. After all, it's a single-round fire, yes, but it has that heavy-duty laser rifle's core powering it. Which means this little guy is going to hurt like hell to any poor bastard that gets shot by it."
I nodded my head quietly as I raised the four-round burst pistol.
"And this one is going to be named Spitfire because if the first three rounds don't kill you, the fourth one should."
As I looked at everyone, I couldn't help but smirk and continue speaking.
"So, who wants modified weapons? Although I won't be able to modify your current weapons if they're not a gun, because I don't have a forge to modify melee weapons."
I looked over to Felix as I began to speak to him.
"Mind taking out one of the trucks meant for soldiers? I'd like to see if it can be repaired or if I'm going to have to scrap it for parts."
I stayed quiet as Felix nodded and went over to the other side of the cave, pulling out one of the soldiers' trucks from his semblance space. Luna began to speak.
"I would like if you could let me have Strife if you wouldn't mind. After all, pistols are kind of my thing, and I've always been one for precise shots rather than rapid fire."
From her voice, I could hear she was really hopeful, and I found it kind of cute, so I handed her Strife. After all, I may have [pistol mastery], but honestly, I'm hoping when I get enough mastery for other weapon types I can fuse them all together to get [Weapon Grand Master]. Pistols were never really my thing, easily modifiable but never truly my preference. I was much more of a rifle-type of guy. I figured I should probably start with the truck now, removing any tracking device that may have been in it.
