Capítulo 25: OMG! It's Junpei!

_______________________________________________________________________

Junpei and Yuji sit on a bench, the tension of earlier events momentarily forgotten as they chat about movies. Junpei, visibly more relaxed, explains his admiration for the second "Earthworm Man" movie.

"I just loved how they took the character's origins and expanded on them," Junpei says, enthusiasm evident in his voice. "The way they built up the story, it felt like the perfect continuation."

Yuji nods, genuinely interested. "I haven't seen that one, but I've heard it's pretty good. I've been watching a lot of movies lately, but mostly at home due to my circumstances."

Junpei raises an eyebrow. "You know, movies are best experienced in a theater. The big screen, the sound—it's a whole different experience."

Yuji grins. "I agree. Maybe we could catch a movie together sometime? It'd be nice to see one on the big screen with a friend."

Junpei smiles, his mood lifting at the offer. "Sure, that sounds good. I'd like that."

As they exchange contact information, Junpei's mother arrives to pick him up. She's a warm, kind woman who greets Yuji with a friendly smile. "Hello, you must be Yuji. I've heard so much about you from Junpei. We're heading home now, but why don't you come over for dinner sometime?"

Yuji, touched by the invitation, thanked her. "I'd love to. Thanks for the invite!"

Junpei and Yuji exchange a final smile and a wave as Junpei leaves with his mother. The bond they've formed seems to promise future camaraderie.

In the dark, damp confines of Mahito's hideout, the dust from the earlier battle settles. Mahito, looking somewhat pleased, emerges from the rubble. He stretches and smiles, clearly impressed with how the fight unfolded.

"I must say, Nanami's tactics were quite intriguing," Mahito muses, brushing off debris. "He's quite the strategist. I learned a lot about my abilities today."

Pseudo-Geto, arriving at the hideout, surveys the scene. "How did it go?" he asks, his tone casual yet curious.

Mahito chuckles. "I discovered that I can maintain the shape of my soul even if I'm crushed. It's fascinating. I can manipulate my cursed energy purely on will alone now."

Geto's interest piques. "And what about Nanami? What happened to him?"

Mahito shrugs, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I'm not sure. He managed to escape before I could finish him off. But he's certainly an intriguing opponent. I'm looking forward to our next encounter."

Pseudo-Geto nods thoughtfully. "Well, let's hope he's not out of the picture for good. We may need to cross paths again sooner than expected."

...

Inside Junpei's cozy living room, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Yuji sits at the dining table with Junpei and his mother, who is cheerfully preparing dinner. Despite the slight haze of drunkenness affecting her behavior, her genuine kindness is apparent.

Yuji and Junpei continue their conversation from earlier, enjoying the relaxed, familial environment. Junpei's mother, with a broad smile, occasionally stumbles over her words but keeps the mood light.

"You know," Yuji says, taking a sip of his drink, "I didn't know my parents at all. My grandfather raised me."

Junpei looks up, a bit surprised. "Really? How was that?"

Yuji nods, his expression thoughtful. "He was a great person. He took care of me and made sure I was always safe. Even though I didn't have my parents, he made sure I never felt like I was missing anything important."

Junpei's mother, with a hint of drunken clumsiness, laughs heartily. "Well, if you ever need more family, you know where to find us!"

Yuji smiles warmly. "Thanks. I appreciate that."

Despite her inebriation, Junpei's mother is genuinely caring, and Yuji feels a sense of comfort and belonging in their company. They share stories and laugh together, enjoying the simple pleasure of good food and conversation.

Meanwhile, Kiyotaka Ijichi is in his car, heading towards Junpei's house to pick up Yuji. His phone rings, and he answers to find Nanami on the other end.

"Ijichi, where are you?" Nanami's voice is tense.

"I'm out picking up Yuji," Ijichi replies, trying to keep his tone steady.

There's a moment of silence on the other end before Nanami's frustration becomes evident. "You're supposed to be on top of things! I've been injured, and you're… What's Yuji doing at Junpei's house?"

Ijichi's anxiety rises. "I—I'm sorry! I'll get him right away. I'll come to assist you right after."

Nanami's voice sharpens with irritation. "Hurry up. I'll need help from Doctor Ieiri. And make sure Yuji doesn't do anything reckless. He's with a target of ours, and we don't need him complicating things."

The call ends abruptly as Nanami hangs up. Ijichi, flustered, rushes to his destination.

Back at the sewer hideout, Nanami, now alone, examines his injuries. He reflects on his recent confrontation with Mahito. Despite escaping with his life, he's troubled by the encounter.

He recalls how Mahito seemed more interested in using their fight as a means to learn and grow. Mahito's nonchalant attitude and the ease with which he toyed with Nanami left a mark. It became clear that Mahito wasn't taking the fight seriously; he was experimenting and developing his abilities.

Nanami's concern deepens as he realizes that if Mahito continues to evolve unchecked, he could become a formidable threat, potentially reaching the level of Jogo, the special-grade curse who fought Satoru Gojo. The implications of this are chilling.

"If Mahito grows stronger," Nanami mutters to himself, "we might not be able to exorcise him before it's too late."

...

After Yuji hangs up with Ijichi, Junpei, curious and a bit anxious, turns to him. "So, are you a jujutsu sorcerer?" he asks, his eyes searching for an answer.

Yuji nods. "Yeah, I am."

Junpei's gaze sharpens with a new, serious curiosity. "Will you ever have to kill anyone?"

Yuji takes a moment before responding, his voice steady but laced with concern. "I'd rather not kill anyone. But the reality of our world is that sometimes it's necessary. I'm not naive enough to think it'll never happen. What worries me is the day I might value life less than I do now. It could change how I feel about those who are important to me."

Junpei looks thoughtful, processing Yuji's words. The two of them sit in silence for a moment, the weight of the conversation hanging between them. Yuji's honesty about the moral complexities of his role as a sorcerer resonates with Junpei, who is grappling with his own dark thoughts.

As night falls, Yuji leaves Junpei's house, saying his goodbyes. Junpei watches him go, feeling a mixture of gratitude and unease. Once Yuji is out of sight, Junpei finds himself alone, pondering Yuji's words.

In the quiet of his home, Junpei sits by himself, reflecting on his fears. He tells himself that he won't be able to kill anyone because it would stain his soul. His thoughts turn to his mother, who, despite her drunken state earlier, is an important part of his life. He wants to protect her and keep his hands clean of blood.

In the kitchen, Junpei's mother stirs as she begins to clean up. She's suddenly jolted by the sight of something unusual on the table—a human finger, eerily out of place. The finger is unmistakably one of Sukuna's cursed fingers, radiating a sinister aura.

As she picks it up, a chilling presence begins to manifest in the shadows of the kitchen. The cursed spirit, drawn by the finger's presence, materializes behind her. Its dark, menacing form begins to take shape, and the atmosphere in the room grows heavy with malevolence.

Junpei's mother, oblivious to the danger, remains focused on the finger. She is suddenly engulfed by the cursed spirit's malignant energy, and the room's darkness seems to close in around her.
