Yuga drove the large truck with the child toward the direction of Viridian City.
During the journey, Gengar interrogated the awakened Team Rocket minions. Yuga learned that these children in the vehicle had been abducted from various places. The Team Rocket intended to train them at their base to become future team members.
Yuga was surprised to discover that the Team Rocket not only recruited trainers but also developed their reserve forces through such abductions.
Rather than lingering in Viridian City, Yuga drove the truck directly to Pewter City. According to his knowledge, the Gym Leaders in Viridian City were the Boss behind Team Rocket, implying that the city might be riddled with Team Rocket spies. It was unwise to stay there with these children and Team Rocket members.
Upon arriving in Pewter City, Yuga handed over the Team Rocket members to the local Officer Jenny and turned the children over to the police.
Unlike the recently emerging Team Aqua and Team Magma in the Hoenn region, the Team Rocket was an established power in the Kanto region. The Pokémon League had been trying to suppress their growth, and trainers like Tyson, who frequently showed their faces, were on the League's wanted list.
Therefore, when Yuga delivered them to the police, it immediately drew the authorities' attention.
Yuga, however, didn't reveal himself. Instead, he anonymously left the truck at the police station's doorstep and then called the police.
He also took the opportunity to report the Team Rocket's secret base near the Tohjo Falls.
Yuga's motive behind these actions was to avoid attracting the Team Rocket's attention. He still needed to stay in the Kanto region for some time and didn't want unnecessary trouble.
As for whether Tyson and the others would reveal his identity to the police, Yuga didn't care. Even if there were Team Rocket spies within the Pokémon League, it wouldn't be easy for them to quickly transmit messages to the outside world.
Moreover, Tyson didn't know Yuga's name or identity. He wasn't a walking surveillance camera, and even if he had seen Yuga's face, he wouldn't be able to provide an accurate description of Yuga's appearance.
Perhaps in the future, the Team Rocket might investigate Yuga's identity, but by then, he would have returned to the Hoenn region. No matyer how powerful the Team Rocket is, they are still powerless when they comes to Hoenn region.
After reporting to the authorities without leaving his name, Yuga took the child and quietly went to the Pokémon Center.
He arranged for the child to take a warm bath and provided them with clean clothes.
Observing the child sitting across from him after the bath, Yuga finally confirmed that the child was a boy. However, considering he was referred to as the "Chosen One," it was clear that he had to be a boy.
(Note : the raw is "Holy Son" but i change it to "Chosen one")
Joe had mentioned that the Chosen One had never been to Bell Tower in the future but left a hints. This meant that the child Yuga had found was undoubtedly the Chosen One when he was younger. Whether the future Chosen One's hints led Yuga to find the current Chosen One or whether Yuga's discovery of the current Chosen One shaped the future Chosen One was difficult to determine. These two events seemed interconnected.
Nonetheless, this child appeared truly pitiful. He was incredibly thin, nearly skin and bones, and his small face was deathly pale.
"What's your name?" Yuga asked the child expressionlessly.
"Gon," the child replied in a quiet voice.
Yuga thought that name sounded somewhat perfunctory and didn't quite match the title of "Chosen One."
Yuga asked, "How old are you?"
"Ten years old," Gon replied.
Upon hearing this response, Yuga was surprised. Ten years old? That couldn't be right! He looked at most eight years old, but ten years old? It seemed unbelievable!
It seemed that Gon was a bit uncomfortable around the stranger Yuga, as he quickly lowered his head to his chest when Yuga continued to gaze at him, appearing somewhat nervous.
Yuga asked, "Do you know where you live? I can take you home."
Although Yuga had agreed to help Bell Tower find the Chosen One, he had no intention of engaging in human trafficking. He felt responsible for returning this child home to ease his family's worries.
"I don't have a home," Gon replied, shaking his head.
No home? Was he an orphan? It could explain his pitiful appearance, but even if he were an orphan, he was just ten years old. There was no reason for him to look like this right after leaving an orphanage.
Moreover, most orphanages provided support for children like him, both in terms of work and daily life. Even if there were difficulties, it wouldn't lead to such extreme malnutrition.
"Where were you before? Don't you have any relatives?" Yuga continued to ask.
Gon simply shook his head in response and remained silent, making Yuga somewhat anxious.
Seeing that he couldn't get any more information, Yuga gave up, deciding to wait until Gon was ready to speak.
"So, can you stay with me for now?" Yuga asked softly.
Gon eagerly nodded, his eyes filled with joy.
He's so delighted to follow me? Yuga couldn't quite understand the child's thought process.
Yuga said, "Let's go eat something then."
Apart from the dry rations he had given the child in the car, Gon hadn't had a proper meal for a while. Yuga suspected he might be quite hungry by now.
Gon silently nodded and then jumped off the bed. However, his body seemed weak, and he nearly stumbled, but Yuga quickly caught him.
Seeing Gon struggle to maintain his balance after getting off the bed, Yuga shook his head in helplessness and held his hand, leading him out of the room.
In the Pokémon Center's restaurant, Yuga ordered some food for Gon. Considering he had likely gone without proper meals for a long time, Yuga chose mild and easily digestible items.
Even though he was ravenous, Gon ate in a very polite manner, taking small bites like a little cat. It was heartwarming to watch.
However, Yuga didn't urge him to eat more since Gon wasn't ready for a large meal yet. Everything needed to be taken one step at a time.
After Gon gently put down his utensils, Yuga asked, "Are you done eating?"
Gon nodded in response.
Then, Yuga led Gon back to their room and took out the Rainbow Feather from the system's inventory, handing it to him.
"Keep this with you, always."
Gon stared at the dazzling Rainbow Feather in Yuga's hand with curiosity. Although he didn't understand why Yuga was giving it to him, he silently accepted it.
Strangely, the moment Gon touched the Rainbow Feather, its radiance temporarily subsided.
Seeing Gon carefully placing the Rainbow Feather inside his pocket, Yuga nodded in satisfaction.
