Capítulo 112: Eccentric

Later on, both of them managed to catch several Pokémon, but due to their low levels and potential, it was quite easy for Yuga to handle them using his Budew. However, there were moments when Rand's Blitzle found itself in a pinch.

The description of the super fishing rod in the system was indeed accurate. It had a special allure for Water-type Pokémon, making them unwittingly take the bait.

However, this kind of rod probably wouldn't attract higher-level Pokémon, so their catches were all relatively minor players.

Yet, it was just right for Yuga and Rand, who wanted to train their Budew and Blitzle.

Yuga released a Tentacool into the sea and turned to Rand. "So, enjoying fishing?"

Rand nodded. Fishing not only provided a chance to train his Blitzle, but he also got to see many Water-type Pokémon he hadn't encountered before, making it quite fascinating.

Yuga grinned. "Glad to hear you're having fun."

As Yuga was about to continue fishing, a middle-aged man in casual clothes approached them. He politely greeted Yuga. "Hello."

Though not sure of the man's intentions, Yuga courteously returned the greeting. "Hi."

The man, named Edward, smiled and asked, "Let me introduce myself first. I'm Edward. I saw you both catching one Pokémon after another. Is there some secret technique?"

Of course, the real secret was Yuga's overpowered fishing rod, but he wouldn't reveal that. So, he chuckled and replied, "There's really no secret. It's just that luck is on our side."

Edward was skeptical of Yuga's answer. "You're kidding, right? Who would take luck seriously? Why don't you share your secret? I can also share my fishing experiences. I'm quite a seasoned fishing enthusiast, you know."

Unwilling to spill the beans, Yuga said, "I really don't have any secrets. It's just plain old good luck, I assure you."

Since Yuga was unyielding, Edward started to suspect it might be the bait's fault.

He examined the bait Yuga had put aside and noticed it was just ordinary bait purchased on the ship, nothing like his special homemade bait.

Oh, right. Edward's eyes lit up as he figured it out. It must be the spot Yuga chose. For fishing, a good spot was crucial.

Edward sighed, "Well, if you won't tell me, I won't press further."

With that, he turned to leave, leaving Yuga confused by his behavior.

However, after a while, Edward returned, not alone, but with all his fishing gear: rod, bait, stool, and everything. He placed his bait not far from Yuga's.

Seeing his actions, Yuga immediately understood what he was up to. He found Edward rather self-important.

Soon enough, Edward realized that even after changing his location, his luck hadn't improved. He hadn't caught a single Pokémon. In contrast, Yuga and Rand kept pulling up Pokémon one after another.

His frustration mounting, Edward moved closer to Yuga and Rand, hoping for a breakthrough. When he realized his efforts were still in vain, he positioned himself right in the middle of Yuga and Rand.

Rand was still quite young, and despite his usual maturity, he was visibly annoyed. He wanted to reprimand Edward but was stopped by Yuga.

Yuga finished packing his gear and said to Rand, "Let's go to a different spot."

Although Rand couldn't understand why he should move when the old man was in the wrong, he packed his things and signaled for his Blitzle to follow Yuga.

Before they left, Rand saw Edward smirking smugly, making him even angrier.

After changing to a new spot, Yuga observed Rand's sulky face and found it quite amusing. Normally, Rand always had an impassive expression; this was the first time Yuga saw him visibly angry.

Yuga chuckled and shook his head. Kids will be kids. There's no point in getting mad over people like him.

Yuga spoke up, "Do you know why I ignored that guy, Edward?"

Rand shook his head.

Yuga continued, "Imagine if a Magikarp tried to challenge a Gyarados. Do you think the Gyarados would get angry?"

Rand shook his head again.

Yuga chuckled and said, "Exactly. What's the difference between someone like him and a Magikarp challenging a Gyarados?

What would we gain from arguing with him? Not only would we not gain anything, but we'd also just get angrier and lower ourselves to his level.

Of course, when I say he's like a Magikarp challenging a Gyarados, I don't mean we're of higher status and he's of lower status. I'm referring to our level of maturity and mentality.

Do you understand?"

Rand nodded, a bit puzzled.

Yuga continued, "To put it simply, even if we managed to give him a good beating to vent our frustration, we can't use force on this ship. If we do, even if we're right, we'll become the ones in the wrong. So, it's better to just ignore him.

But of course, if we ever get a chance to give him a beating in the future, don't hold back. Beat him to your heart's content."

This time, Rand understood clearly and didn't feel angry anymore. He replied, "Got it."

Just as Rand cast his fishing rod again, the rod twitched. Rand seized the opportunity, swiftly yanked it upwards, and pulled up a yellow-colored Pokémon.

"Qua."

The yellow Pokémon that was pulled up covered its head with both hands, then tilted its head to look at Rand, who had caught it.

"Why are you just standing there? Hurry up and tame it."

Seeing Rand hesitating, Yuga reminded him.

Upon hearing Yuga's reminder, Rand quickly sent out his Blitzle.

"Blitzle, use Shock Wave!"

Blitzle's reaction was swift. Upon hearing its Trainer's command, a surge of yellow electricity emitted from its body and struck the opposing yellow Pokémon.

Blitzle's Shock Wave clearly inflicted significant damage on the yellow Pokémon. Its initially dazed face twisted in pain. In response, the yellow Pokémon fired a Water Gun toward Blitzle.

However, Blitzle was quick, swiftly evading the Water Gun attack.

"Blitzle, Quick Attack."

Under Rand's command, Blitzle dashed toward the yellow Pokémon as a white streak of light, closing in instantly. It then kicked the yellow Pokémon's head with both hind hooves.

The yellow Pokémon clutched its throbbing head, its painful expression deepening. Its eyes glowed with a blue light, and before Blitzle could escape, it was ensnared by telekinesis of the yellow Pokémon and Blitzle was slammed onto the ground.

"Blitzle, get up quickly and use Shock Wave again!"

Blitzle rapidly got up from the ground and released another surge of yellow electricity. This time, the opposing yellow Pokémon couldn't hold on and collapsed.

As a Water-type Pokémon, the yellow Pokémon indeed couldn't withstand two consecutive Shock Waves, especially considering its low level. However, if this Pokémon had been more responsive and had some attacking moves, Blitzle might not have been able to defeat it.
