Her stepfather should have sought her out if he wanted to see her. She was not exactly hiding. That was if he even remembered her. But why would he? 

She was not his real daughter. She was not his flesh and blood. Therefore, he was not in any obligation to worry about her.

"I think she is someone I once knew," Jules answered her son's question, pointing to the woman who just disappeared inside the elevator. "But I am not quite sure."

How could she talk about her stepsister when she could not even bring her son to meet them? Oliver would only get confused about his family.

Although she had talked to her son about her biological parents, at least based on what she remembered about them, she had not mentioned anything about Eugene, Venus, and Kaely.
